It is the mission of Kirkcaldy Foodbank that nobody in the Kirkcaldy area
goes hungry during a time of crisis and that everybody shares what they
have.
We are an independent foodbank working hard to ensure local people do
not go hungry during a time of crisis since our launch in December
2013. At Kirkcaldy Foodbank we work towards helping local people and
families in crisis by providing emergency food parcels to people in need.
From 3rd December 2013 - August 2014 Kirkcaldy Foodbank provided
emergency food provisions to 3460 adults and children.

Christmas Eve Service - Christingles
MP 589 – See him lying on a bed of straw
As a special treat, for our 6.30pm Christmas Eve service we will be making
Christingles. The idea of Christingles came from a Moravian Church
in Germany in 1747. The minister, John de Watteville, gave children at
the service a lighted candle with a red ribbon around it. This represented
Jesus being the light of the world and the final prayer of that first service
was "Lord Jesus, kindle a flame in these children’s hearts.” The custom
went around the world with the church. Missionaries brought the
Moravian Church to England in the 1700s. In Moravian churches, the
Christingle Service is usually held on the Sunday before Christmas or on
Christmas Eve.

A Christmas Message
Let us all remember
When our faith is running low,
Christ is more than just a figure
Wrapped in an ethereal glow –
For He came and dwelt among us
And He Knows our every need
And He loves and understands us
And forgives each sinful deed –
He was crucified and buried
And rose again in glory
And His promise of salvation
Makes the wondrous Christmas Story
An abiding reassurance
That the little Christ Child’s birth
Was the beautiful beginning

Messy Nativity in the Mercat
The Messy Nativity event in the Mercat last Saturday
was another great success, with over 80 children and
almost 60 adults attending. With 5 craft activities, a
prayer space, storytime and a song, we shared the story
of the first Christmas with everyone who attended.
All the churches involved (Connect, Pathhead Parish Church, Kinghorn
& Burntisland Parish Church, Newcraigs and The Salvation Army) worked
together as a team to make the event work so well and a big thank you is due
to all who contributed.
The event was completely free but there was a donation box for Bethany
Christian Trust and the sum of £47.38 was raised.
A very special thanks to all those who gave their time to make this such
a successful Fair, as without them, this event would not be possible. The
kindness and generosity shown by everyone who contributed both goods and
cash donations was amazing. Thanks also, to those who supported us and a
special thanks to Joan our guest for the day.
