The Gardens Mall Grand Court was rocking on Friday, Nov. 15 when Santa and his
dancing entourage made their official grand entrance at Santa’s Arrival Dance Party.
Five hundred excited tots and their equally bedazzled parents welcomed the worldfamous toymaker and his merry elves, plus a glittering entourage of jumping reindeer,
snowflake stilt walkers, comedians, jugglers, and a crystal-festooned ice princess.
DJ Renee got the crowd jumping as Santa arrived to welcome his fans who were only
too thrilled to meet and mingle with their favorite holiday hero.
More than 350 unwrapped gifts were collected for the Salvation Army Annual Toy
Drive. Missed your close-up with Kriss Kringle? Don’t fret. Santa will be available to
take treasurable photos in his Enchanted Garden during regular mall hours through Dec.
24.

Elion Partners, a national real estate investment firm, has
announced that The Fresh Market has signed on as anchor
tenant at The Shops at Fisherman’s Wharf on E. Indiantown
Road at Intracoastal Pointe Drive in Jupiter.
Now under renovation, the existing 5.5-acre shopping
plaza will soon resemble a European village with its
pedestrian-friendly setting and a choice selection of new
retailers. The Fresh Market itself will feature its signature
produce department, including a large selection of organic
produce as well as items that are sourced locally. In addition,
The Fresh Market will provide a full service meat and
seafood department, European-style deli, in-store bakery and
unique grocery, bulk, coffee, candy and floral departments.
Elion Partners acquired the property in August. The
multimillion-dollar renovation includes the construction of
a new 20,900-square-foot building for The Fresh Market
and renovations of the two existing buildings, as well as
significant sidewalk improvements and new parking. During
the remodeling, the plaza’s existing retailers remain open
for business. The Fresh Market is expected to open in the
summer of 2014.
Michael Hotte, with Echion, has been brought on to assist
with development. Atlantic Retail Properties is handling the
retail leasing. Transwestern is the property management
team.
Tom Godino of Atlantic Retail Properties noted, “Elion
Partners had the foresight to reposition this property with
The Fresh Market and new national brand retailers to create
long-term value.”
Prime Sites Inc. represented The Fresh Market and
worked closely with Elion Partners to achieve their objective
of penetrating this particular market.

2014 South Florida Fair Dedicated To New York City
The city that never sleeps is coming to the 2014 South
Florida Fair, Jan. 17 to Feb. 2, in West Palm Beach. The 102nd
annual South Florida Fair’s theme – “New York City: Be a
part of it!” – will feature many “Big Apple” sights and sounds
beginning with the entrance. As guests enter the main gates,
they will be welcomed to a replica of Manhattan’s Times
Square.
The fair’s 80,000-square-foot exposition hall will be
dedicated to the promotion of New York City. Guests will be
able to watch the construction of the Statue of Liberty using
more than 200 tons of sand. They’ll also be able to witness
the building of an Empire State Building replica made from
hundreds of canned goods. Another replica that will be set up
is New York’s subway system. For Broadway show fans, a
first-class ice skating show, “New York On Ice,” will be held
three times daily as international champion skaters perform
to the music of Broadway’s biggest hits. There also will be
a public ice skating rink set up for visitors to enjoy.
Additional new attractions include Las Vegas-trained
hypnotist Catherine Hickland, who has hypnotized FOX
news reporters and hosts across the country; a high-dive show
featuring divers leaping off a platform at over 80 feet in the
air (equivalent to an eight-story building) and reaching speeds
over 55 miles per hour; and Jimmy Riffle of the Gator Boys
presents Scales, Tales and Teeth Road Show. This road crew
will show how they handle alligators and other native and
exotic reptiles by performing dangerous stunts and capture
techniques.
Main stage national entertainment appearing on the CocaCola Stage at the Party Pavilion include: Brooke Eden, Craig
Morgan, Cassadee Pope, Eddie Money, The Leroy Van Dyke
Country Gold Tour, The Swon Brothers, The Lone Bellow
and The Fab Four, The Ultimate Tribute Band Competition.
A number of local acts are featured at other stages during
the fair as well.
Fair favorites also will return, which include The
Hambone Express featuring racing pigs, a petting zoo, South
Florida Fair Hall of Famer and entertainer Dennis Lee, the
Starz of the Future competition and the Miss South Florida
Fair Scholarship Pageant. More than $9,000 in scholarships
is distributed among the selected finalists. Miss America
certified judges select the winner, who advances to Miss
Florida, where she will compete to represent Florida at the

About The Gardens Mall
The Gardens Mall is located one mile east of I-95 on
PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens. The luxurious,
1.4-million-square-foot, super-regional shopping center

The fair’s educational component continues with
thousands of farm animals and feathered friends gathered
in the Agriplex. One of the highlights is the opportunity to
watch cows delivering their calves in the Moo-ternity Tent.
Additional activities include equestrian events from dressage,
show jumping and pleasure shows to western, barrel racing
and clinics. Strolling through historic Yesteryear Village,
open throughout the 17-day fair, allows visitors to see how
folks lived in inland South Florida during the late 19th century
and they can even get a taste of some homemade ice cream.
On Sunday at 1 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30
p.m., twirling groups, folkloric dancers, Amara Shriners,
marching bands, cars, mascots, the South Florida Fair
Marching Band and the fair mascot will stroll their way
through the grounds. The parades are sponsored by the
International Polo Club Palm Beach.
The fair wouldn’t be complete without the Wade Shows
midway with its more than 80 rides and attractions. Ride
fans can beat the lines with Gold Access, a VIP Experience.
Gold Access allows guests to skip the ride lines and move
to the front at the special gold and black checkerboard lines.
All Gold Access guests receive a VIP lanyard and distinctive
wristband to access Gold Access privileges. From 5 to 10 p.m.
on Thursday, Jan. 16, a Ride-A-Thon will be held. Admission
and rides will cost $10 with a coupon (available Jan. 2)

Benefiting Foster Children
Bright colors and brighter spirits will create an electric
atmosphere for the 2014 Hope Bash, as organizers plan an
evening of elegant fun to benefit the foster children, young
mothers and emancipated youth under the care of Place of
Hope (POH).
Hope Bash Co-chairs Sue Ende and Erin Rossitto of
Palm Beach Gardens are leading a collaborative committee
to create “Bright Nights: Celebrating the Colors of Hope,”
planned for Feb. 21, 2014, at PGA National Resort & Spa.
Co-chairs of the 2013 Hope Bash Nicole Henry and Elin
Nordegren of Jupiter will be returning as honorary co-chairs.
The new co-chairs bring a long history of enthusiasm and
support to the Hope Bash. Rossitto became involved with
Place of Hope in 2004, after moving from Connecticut; she
met Gina Fazio, clinical director at POH, in a Gymboree
class for their children. Rossitto introduced Ende to POH
about six years ago. Both women have served as volunteers,
committee members and fundraisers for the organization
before leading the signature gala.
“I am passionate about the work Place of Hope does,”
said Rossitto. “The Bash is an excellent vehicle for raising
awareness about Place of Hope’s many programs and a
fun and inspiring way to raise needed funds to ensure the
sustainability of the organization.”
Rossitto owns Muses & Visionaries (http://
musescoworking.com), a shared workspace space for female
entrepreneurs and professionals in downtown West Palm
Beach. She also launched a women’s magazine this fall,
called M&V Magazine (http://magazinemv.com). She said
the content will be regionally relevant with a global view
and perspective.
In addition to Ende’s work with Place of Hope, she
formed an organization of women who host “Parties with
a Purpose,” which raise both funds and awareness for local
charities.
“We have hosted these parties in support of many local
causes, such as Place of Hope, Villages of Hope, Joann’s
Cottage, Hospice of Volusia, the Richard David Kann
Melanoma Foundation, Driving Miss Crazy, as well as
others,” she said. “I have also volunteered for organizations
such as Adopt-A-Family, Habitat for Humanity, Community
Answers out of Greenwich, Conn.; and, having a weak spot
for animals, I have also been involved with Big Dog Ranch
Rescue.”
Proceeds from the 2014 Hope Bash fundraiser will
benefit the programs and operations of Place of Hope. With
campuses in Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach and
Boca Raton, Place of Hope is a faith-based, state-licensed
child welfare organization that provides family-style foster
care (emergency and long-term); family outreach and
intervention; maternity care; safety for domestic minor
sexually trafficked victims; transitional housing and support
services; adoption and foster care recruitment and support;
hope and healing opportunities for children and families who
have been traumatized by abuse and neglect.
The 2014 Hope Bash will begin at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21, at

2013 just flew by didn’t
it? I’ve noticed the older I
get, the faster the years go.
All the more reason to make
the most of every hour, day,
encounter. Time really does
fly when you are having
fun and having fun is really
a “choice!” Living with love at your center is a choice.
Everyday we can choose love or its nemesis. In case you
didn’t know: the opposite of love is “hate.” The more you
love, the more you will be loved and feel love, and hence
a good way to begin the year! Commit to a year of love.
Create and choose an environment that promotes love (not
the opposite). Make your home and office a more loving
place and good moments will follow suit. Reach out and
love more. Leave your comfort zone with love on your mind.
Use love as your main motivator in all that you do and you
cannot go wrong. By deciding to love more in 2014, you will
automatically cover all your new year’s resolutions! “Greet
each day with love in your heart!”
There are many reasons to join The Love Movement this
year such as:
Love is good for your health. Countless studies show that
married people live longer than unmarried people. Loneliness
is a risk factor for Alzheimer’s, suicide, and many other
ailments. Love is hope and hope is a cure. Therefore love is
the best natural medicine that exists.
Love is good for weight loss. I have seen ladies and
men that join with the infamous “10 pounds” on their minds.
Within weeks of joining, the weight seems to just fall off.
Why? Mainly because of the renewed faith and connectedness
to others. Renewed faith in love is remarkable.
Love can ward of depression. The less love you have,
the more depressed you are likely to feel. Love is a better
antidepressant than most. What a plan – love more and feel
better. Yes, there are people that need real medication and
that is OK … but the ultimate power lies in love.
Love is good for the E-C-O-N-O-M-Y. If you are feeling
love at home ... have a hot date and/or a romantic getaway
planned … don’t you think you will perform better on the
job? YES, you will! You will be like a magnet for good energy
… resulting in more sales, a raise, or even a promotion ...
whatever your goals may be … they will come easier.
May you all have love and all its benefits this year. Like
the Beatles song says: “All you need is love…love is all you
need.” Roll up all your typical New Year’s Resolutions,
put them in a bag, and call it LOVE.
Your life and love is in your hands … let’s make it an
amazing year ... TOGETHER!!

Frenchman’s Creek Donates To Jupiter Medical Center

Now in its seventh year, the Frenchman’s Creek Men’s
Health Day was held Wednesday, Dec. 11. Jupiter Medical
Center physicians including Dr. Michael Leighton, Dr. Lee
Fox, Dr. Morgan Poncy and Dr. K. Adam Lee accompanied
nearly 200 golfers at Frenchman’s Creek. The tournament
was chaired by Frenchman’s Creek residents, Steve
Weinberg, Bernie Herman and Richard Fleisher. JMC
Foundation President Murray Fournie stated, “Steve, Bernie
and Richard, along with their committee epitomize what
dedicated volunteers can accomplish for the community.”
“A hospital can only be as good as the community wants
it to be. We understand when a community requires a superior
facility for health care, they have to step up and assume
responsibility. This is not possible without private support.
Communities to play a part in achieving high quality health
it is our hope to raise the bar and encourage other local care
for themselves, families and friends,” added Steve Weinberg,
co-chair.
“Both the north and south courses were full; which
made the day even more meaningful. Players enjoyed a
day of golf, knowing they were also benefiting their local
community, while enhancing the future of healthcare,”
stated Robert Bruno, director of golf at Frenchman’s Creek.
North course, First Net winners were: Dr. Adam Lee, Irwin
Shipper, James Tisdale and Robert O’Kaufman. South course
First Net winners were: Max Botel, Mark Petricoff, Jeff
Stanfield and Mike Moshontz. The winners of Nine Hole
Round were: Elliott Cowen, Patrick Higgins, Lou Radler
and SandeWische.
After the sumptuous lunch buffet in the main dining
room, the Jupiter Medical Center was presented a check for
$250,000; one-quarter of the million dollar commitment,
to be raised over the next three years. These funds will be
donated to The Center, to be named, Frenchman’s Creek
Center for Digestive Excellence. “Philanthropy is changing
the very shape of healthcare at Jupiter Medical Center, with
Frenchman’s Creek donors leading the way,” added John
Couris, JMC’s CEO. “Patients and their families will no
longer be forced to travel to receive the various types of
advanced care we will be able to provide at JMC, thanks
to our supporters from the Frenchman’s Creek, and the
Men’s Health Day Tournament,” stated Dr. Chester “Chet”
Maxson, medical director JMC, Frenchman’s Creek Center
for Digestive Excellence.

Frenchman’s Creek banquet room was almost filled to
capacity with 200 golfers and event guests.
With the men’s luncheon nearby, a birthday celebration was
held for (standing) Eleanor Newman, with Ellen Spurber
and Phyllis LeBoff. Seated are Florence Walk with another
birthday celebrant Mimi Rieder, with HelenAnn Eisen and

Scripps Florida Celebrating 10 Years Of Discovery
Nearly 100 guests attended the Courageous Science event
at Scripps Florida in Jupiter on Nov. 3. As Scripps Florida
launches its celebration of a decade of discovery (2004-14),
the audience had the privilege to hear from Professor John
Cleveland, Ph.D., chair, department of cancer biology;
Thomas Kodadek, Ph.D., vice chair, department of chemistry;
and Laura Niedernhofer, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor,
department of aging and metabolism.
Each of the speakers discussed some of the groundbreaking
medical advances taking place at Scripps Florida and the bold,
innovative approach the scientists there are taking to find
cures for diseases that have continually plagued humankind.
Well-known entrepreneur, philanthropist and Palm Beach
resident Alexander Dreyfoos shared with guests his profound
commitment to Scripps Florida and the compelling reasons
to support it philanthropically. Dreyfoos, a trustee of the
institute, is a dedicated supporter and advocate of the worldrenowned not-for-profit biomedical research institute.
Over the last 10 years, Scripps Florida has established
deep roots in the Florida community, while fulfilling its
mission to advance biomedical research, improve human
health and train the next generation of scientists.
Some of the many supporters in attendance included: Gail
and William Boyan, Marsha and Nick Boyes, Kevin Bradley,
Nancy Hart, Tim Henry, Leanna Landsmann, Tom Kaplan,
Ginger Roll and Dr. Lynn Legerton.
