Back To School
2016
Clintondale High School is named
CNN’s Top 41 Most Innovative
Schools in America!
Greg Green
Superintendent
Thank you! I would
personally like to thank
all of the voters for your
generous support of our
schools! I could not be
happier for our students and
our local community for
the generous support during
the March 8th millage vote.
As a result, we can expand
our wireless Internet to
our entire school district
and give 900 Chromebooks to our students to
use and even support our
instructional technologies
as well. Our community’s
vote undoubtedly takes us
to the next level and allows
our students to compete not
only locally, but globally as
well. I feel with the community’s support, Clintondale Community Schools is
on the verge of something
terrific.
I could not be more proud of Clintondale High
School and the staff for all their hard work and
dedication to our students. I am pleased to announce
that our very own high school was named NUMBER
2 in the UNITED STATES for its innovative
practice and the development of the flipped school.
Dr. Morten Hansen, authour of the best seller Great
by Choice explained on his spring visit to our school
district, “You do not see schools just radically
change their approach like they have for their students. No one has done it in 300 years so radically
and saw the great results they (Clintondale) have.
That is why I am writing a chapter on Clintondale
in my next book,” said Hansen. It was an honor to
have had Dr. Hansen visit Clintondale Community
Schools.
I am so proud of our community and staff
commitment to our students. It all does start here!
Ready for Kindergarten... all children who turn 5

McGlinnen Elementary
McGlinnen Elementary School is
looking forward to a great 2016-17
school year! We will welcome
two new staff members, secretary
Mrs. Sue Pollack and Mrs. Amy
Wright who teach the third/fourth
multi-age class. You will see lots
of exciting changes when you
return in the fall! Mrs. Laurie
Kania and Mrs. Krissy Procissi
will be our new second grade
teachers, Mrs. Dawn Derkacz is
returning to fourth grade, Mr. John
Steinhebel will teach fifth grade
and Mrs. Jennifer Tschirhart
will lead a fifth/sixth multi-age
classroom. Teachers will embrace
more blended learning with the
addition of new laptops for staff,
new chromebooks for the students
and wi-fi throughout the entire
building. Teachers have been
preparing all summer attending
professional development in reading and math, catching up on the
latest research of the best practices
for student learning. Teacher learning will continue with literacy and
math coaches visiting throughout
the year. With the addition of an
expanded guided reading library
and math manipulatives, our
students will reap the benefits of
more resources. We are fortunate
to be able to add Leveled Literacy
Intervention (LLI), as a supplemental support for reading and writing.
Students can look forward to
leadership opportunities as Peaceful Panthers, Green Team, Safeties
and Mentors. Perhaps the most
exciting, is the support and enthusiasm of our new PTO! Under the
leadership of President Mrs. April
Bohrer (whose motto is “all parents are the PTO!”), there will be
lots of opportunities to participate
in family activities, fundraising and
fun. Look for new McGlinnenwear and a bulletin board and PTO
Facebook page filled with news and
information.
Parker Elementary
It is with great pleasure that we
welcome you back to Robbie Hall
Parker Elementary School for the
2016-17 school year. This year
promises to be one of new and
exciting possibilities! Our school
mission statement is, We are a
community of learners who are
respectful, responsible and focus on
learning. At Robbie Hall Parker
Elementary School we will work
together on this mission to increase
student achievement and help create leaders in our community. We
are excited to announce that for the
second year we have been chosen
to receive the I Am A Leader Foundation Grant which will enable us
to continue our work as a Leader
In Me school. The Leader In Me
program is a whole school transformation process that teaches 21st
century leadership and life skills
to K-12 students while creating a
culture of student empowerment
based on the idea that every child
can be a leader. Our students and
staff will work all year to achieve
WIGS, Wildly Important Goals.
The focus will be not only “setting”
goals, but the work that needs to
be done to effectively “achieve”
our goals. All of us at Robbie Hall
Parker Elementary are looking
forward to a successful school year.
Great habits make great leaders.
