3 Use AUTO CROSS with parallel port
AUTO CROSS work perfectly with parallel ports in
many modes e.g.. Normal, EPP and ECP. But some
printer models like HP LaserJet 6P and 6MP cannot
operate in ECP and EPP mode. (This is the case with
a few PCs only.) If you have installed AUTO CROSS
and cannot operate, especially a HP LaserJet 6P and
6MP, it might be that the parallel port type parameter
in BIOS is set to be ECP and EPP. Set it back to
Standard Mode by using BIOS/CMOS Setup utility or
set the jumpers of the parallel port expansion card.
4 How to change BIOS Setup
A Reboot the computer while it is booting or performing
memory check, press Delete or F1 or F2 or ESP or
Ctrl-Alt-Esc key (Depending on type and model of
computer).

B In order to select the Printer Port Mode item (Can be
found in Chipset Feature Setup or Integrated
Peripherals menu). Basically, there are many modes
to select, preferably choose Standard or Normal or
SPP or Compatible or something else except ECP
and FPP. Then save the parameter.
Caution: Do not modify other parameters
otherwise the computer may malfunction.
5 Garbage Printing Solving
Printing under Windows 95 sometimes does not work
properly. It might happens with the EPSON dot matrix
printer. This may be fixed by follow these steps.
A Right click at My Computer icon, then select
Properties, Device Manager, Port (COM & LPT),
Driver. Check whether their file version is 4.00.950 or
not. Then select Change Driver and see Models are
on the Printer Port or not.
B Disable the bi-directional operation. Basically, this can
be done by 3 ways.
1
Re-install a driver and find out which step leads
the user to customize an installation and enables
to suppress the bi-directional operation.
2
Delete Status Monitor programs from hard disk or
re-install driver without Status Monitor feature.
3
Try to find one driver program that has an option
to suppress the bi-directional operation.
notexecute a command.
A Make sure that all cables are tightly connected to the
right connectors.
This problem is specific to Windows 95 and
some computer models. It is no case a
malfunction of AUTO CROSS.
A Change from its initial driver to Windows by clicking at
Add New Printer under Setting, Printers and then
choose an appropriate driver from the list prepared by
Windows (do not select have Disk) or
(use type config.sys and type autoexec.bat).
3 Which brand and model of both computer and
printer? How many printer ports they have?
when difficulties occurred? What is the version
number and which malfunction happened at what
step or menu? Did it work before? If a problem is a
kind of bad printing, attach a bad printout sample.
B Check the operation of the printer itself. Switch off and
on. Put in paper. Check if the Online or Ready indicator
is lit or not. If Ok, issue a print job using other
applications (like Paint). If the printer is functioning
well, AUTO CROSS is functioning well too.
C Switch off and on the computer. Try the above.
6 Difficulties with some computer models
If you have difficulties to install and use AUTO CROSS
with a specific printer model. They might be due to an
unusual printer driver. Do the following steps.
1 DOS version or Windows version
4 Which application software were you working with
all device, Printer Port, OK, OK.
version 4.00.503 from \DRIVERS\PRINTER\LPT
directory in Windows 95 CD-ROM to replace the old

Before sending AUTO CROSS to one of our service,
centers, please provide all information as to help our
representative to analyze, to save cost an to
accelerate.

USING PIMJAI PROGRAM
PIMJAI is a special program, helping us using AUTO
CROSS easier. We can select the printer directly at
the computer we are using without pressing on the
AUTO CROSS panel. There are 2 groups of PIMJAI
Programs. The first group is used with Windows
95/98/ME SP Select and the second group is used in
DOS, which called PIMJAI.COM, S_LOCK.EXE and
S_SELECT.COM
SP Select (for Windows 95/98/ME)
A Installation
RUN SETUP.EXE from diskette then Ok. After that
press "Setting" for feeding the names or series of
printer in Printer1, Printer2 and Printer3 ex. "Laser",
"Ink", "Dot Metrix"
PIMJAI in DOS
In DOS is consist of 3 Programs which are
PIMJAI.COM, S_LOCK.EXE and S_SELECT.COM.
These 3 programs are proper for DOS only
PIMJAI.COM is a resident programs that user can
call whenever he wants.
S_LOCK.EXE is a supported program, using with
PIMJAI.COM for locking the printer.
S_SELECT.EXE is a non-resident program. The
printer can be select by running this program
These 3 programs were designed for working with
DOS only, not for Windows.
A Installation
RUN "INSTDOS.BAT" and specify the installing drive
and the printer types behind the command e.g. the
printer1, 2 and 3 are Laser, Laser and LQ please type
as below.
INSTDOS C:\LASER LASER LQ
INSTDOS Program will modify AUTOEXEC.BAT,
whenever the computer is booted, PIMJAI.COM will
be requested.
B Uninstallation
The user can uninstall SP Select by using Add/
Remove Program in Control Panel.
C Usage
When the system is starting, SP Select will function
also. The red icon of AUTO CROSS sign will be
minimized at the right of the Taskbar. Then double
click at the icon for calling the menu.
The monitor will show the no of printer, which is
connecting with the computer. If we press "Next
Printer", the computer will connect with the next one
or we can specify the printer directly. Press "Refresh"
when the monitor for status is not like on the AUTO
CROSS status.
B Abolition
Delete PIMJAI commanding line from AUTOEXEC
.BAT file.
1 Using PIMJAI.COM
Running PIMJAI.COM as below:
PIMJAI/A = [Printer Type]
/B = [Printer Type]
/C = [Printer Type]
Printer Type is the type of printer that connected with
AUTO CROSS follow the order e.g. Printer1 is Laser,
Printer2 & 3 are LQ, the command is
PIMJAI/A = LASER /B = LQ /C = LQ
For SP225 can connect with 2 printer please use /A
and /B
After run PIMJAI, calling the menu by press Ctrl &
Tab in the sometime. Selecting the printer can be
done in 2 ways
1st way
Use "S" key 1 time the light on the panel will be
change to the next one. This way likes the users
press directly on the AC panel.
2nd way
This is a permanent selection by pressing A, B or C in
stead of 1, 2 and 3 or printer locking. After locking the
user do not have to select and move until changing
locking to be another printer cancel locking can do by
pressing "S" key.
Users can choose the printer through the other
language program. Please study from PIMJAI.DOC
Users can abolish PIMJAI.COM from MU by order
"PIMJAI/U"
1 USING "S_LOCK.EXE"
Sometime we can not press Ctrl-Tab for bringing
PIMjAI program though we already run it in MU. The
other working choice is using "S_LOCK". S_LOCK
will send the number of printer through PIMJAI
Program in MU without "Popup"
Using by ordering s_lock and followed by /A or /B or
/C which are refer to the printer we want to use such
as type "S_LOCK/A" when we want to lock Printer A
S_LOCK can be use only the time PIMJAI was run.
3 USING S_SELECT.COM
This program is working like SP Select in Windows,
only selecting the printer without locking.
Use S_SELECT and followed by A, B or C whish are the
Printer No. 1, 2 and 3 that we want to select such as.
S_SELECT B when we want to use the Printer No. 2
S_SELECT can be function independently but
S_LOCK has to be connected with PIMJAI program.
