COME AND WALK WITH US….
Close your eyes and imagine an awe inspiring, lush farm
in southern Brazil on the edge of a deep blue lake. A
gentle breeze pushes a few white clouds in the sky and
is rustling the leaves on the coffee bushes. Above, the
sun shines like a diamond. Each breath you take is saturated with the smell of the fresh, damp soil and the sweet
aroma of fresh fruits on the trees. Reach out and feel
the crinkly texture of the sugar cane leaves on their dark
green stalks. Hear the drip, drip, drip of the perfect distillation coming from the copper pot still. Taste the purest
cachaca ever created.
Everything you have just imagined in your mind is just
how our farm is, only brighter and more vibrant. It is the
same experience that we capture in every bottle made by
Fazenda Mae De Ouro.

ABOUT
FAZENDA
MÃE DE OURO
Located in the state of Minas Gerais in southeast Brazil,
Fazenda Mae De Ouro is located in the heart of the most
celebrated cachaca producing state in Brazil. Near the
farm is the sleepy town of São José da Barra where fewer
than six thousand residents, live and work. In the 1960’s
this was the site of one of Brazil’s very first modern hydroelectric plants, the Furnas Hydro Power Facility. It is
this clean and renewable energy that has brought much
prosperity to the town.
At Fazenda Mae De Ouro we continue the traditions of
substantiality in everything we do. Nothing goes to waste.
For example as a producer of coffee, we use the chaff
(the outer skin of the coffee cherries) as nesting for our
chickens in their coops. These chickens in turn provide
the coffee fields with natural fertilizer.

In much the same way our sugarcane
is grown and harvested in the most
natural way possible. Each planting
season the fields are covered with
sugar cane leaves from the previous
season to encourage natural decay
and soil enrichment. Spent mash
also makes a perfect fertilizer for the
sugar cane fields, being naturally rich
in potassium.
This sustainable commitment has
been a part of Fazenda Mãe de
Ouro’s history since it’s founding by
our family, several generations ago.
With the new advances in technology,
we give have given priority to ethanol
and biodiesel vehicles and machinery. We have even planted a small
wooded area to compensate for our
carbon emissions generated by the
logistics of getting our products to
our markets. In our small way, we
know that we are contributing to a
more sustainable world climate.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Fazenda Mae De Ouro is indeed a beautiful place, and it is
reflected in the smiles of our workers. As an employer, we
have created jobs that support social stability by providing
good wages, modern housing and long term job security.
Indeed we are not only a working farm; we are home to the
families of our team. Children of our staff attend school
daily in São José da Barra, and all of us are exceptional
proud of their academic achievements. Each and every
employee is treated with respect and appreciation, and in
return they, as well as us, act as stewards of the land.

OUR CACHAÇA IS YOUR CACHAÇA
Cachaça is a noble and elegant spirit that is unique to
Brazil and a part of our rich heritage. Sharing cachaca
with family and friends brings a sense of joy and wellbeing
to those who appreciate the complex flavors and aromas
of the drink. Such is our passion to make this possible
with our handcrafted cachaca.
The process begins with hand-cut, unburnt sugarcane.
We then take the cane and mill immediately it to extract
the green frothy juices. Using natural yeasts and a natural
fermentation process, we transform this juice into an alcoholic base, which we then distill in a traditional copper pot
still. Just like the rest of our farm our distillation process,
lets nothing go to waste. Even our steam heat for the still
is fueled by clean burning pressed sugar cane biomass.
Once the cachaca has been distilled to perfection, it undergoes a rigorous chemical analysis before it is either
aged in oak or rested in stainless steel barrels, in accordance with its future use. Before bottling we triple filter
the cachaca before finally adding the seal of quality, the
label of Fazenda Mae De Ouro.
In each bottle now awaits a truly unique drinking experience that began with the land, was crafted pride and love,
and designed with a commitment to the people that work
for us, and the world that we all live in.
