Centro Interuniversitario di Magnetismo Naturale "Roberto Lanza" ALP - Alpine Laboratory of Paleomagnetism CHI SIAMO? Il Centro Interuniversitario di Magnetismo delle Rocce riunisce ricercatori da 6 sedi universitarie nazionali che nel 2005 sono riunite sotto una gestione amministrativa comune per concentrare le risorse e gli sforzi organizzativi nella realizzazione di un moderno laboratorio di ricerca. Le Università coinvolte sono: Chieti-Pescara, Milano, Parma, Roma 3, Torino, Urbino. Il laboratorio è situato in locali contigui al Centro Congressi di Peveragno (Cuneo), che l’Amministrazione Provinciale di Cuneo ha messo a disposizione dell’ Università di Torino fin dal 1994. COSA FACCIAMO? Le attività di ricerca si sviluppano nel quadro di programmi nazionali e internazionali e coprono una vasta gamma di interessi: oltre ai tradizionali campi della geologia (dinamica delle placche, stratigrafia magnetica), problematiche di grande interesse e attualità (rischio vulcanico, global change, magnetismo ambientale) e applicazioni in altri rami della scienza, come l’ archeologia e i beni culturali. Studenti e dottorandi delle università consorziate svolgono attività didattica e di ricerca presso ALP, che ospita anche studenti e ricercatori di altre università italiane ed estere. Il Centro Interuniversitario organizza inoltre a Peveragno corsi a livello post-universitario sulle varie applicazioni del magnetismo nelle Scienze della Terra.
