Vehicle Disassembly. (a) Automatic Vehicles should be placed in Park with the Parking Brake set. 10mm Socket Negative Battery Cable (b) Remove the Negative Battery Cable. (Fig. 1-1) (1) Protect the Fender before starting. (2) Note the Battery Cable position, as it will be reinstalled in the same position. Battery CAUTION: Do not touch the positive terminal. (Fig. 1-13) (1) Remove 2 Bolts and 2 Clips. (2) Remove the Backside of the Vehicle Harness Clamp from the Center Cluster Lower Cover. (v) Remove the Knockout Cover of the Center Cluster Lower Cover in the bottom row, 4th space from the left. (Fig. 1-13) Bolt (1) Discard the Knockout Cover. V5 Harness (a) Route the V5 4P BLUE Connector and GREEN/RED Wire, from Center Cluster toward the Driver’s Side Area. (Fig. 2-6) Pliers GREEN/RED 30P 30P Tape Wire Side View 30P (j) Locate the 30P Connector’s GREEN/RED Wire (top row, fifth space from the left). Attach the V5 GREEN/RED Wire with a Splicing Connector. (Fig. 2-6) (1) Verify the Terminal is inserted and seated properly. (a) Turn the GBS Adjustment Screw on the GBS ECU to the “6” position. (Fig. 3-1) GBS ECU Fig. 3-1 GBS ECU Mounting Bracket (b) Insert the GBS ECU Mounting Bracket into the indicated Slot of the GBS ECU. (Fig. 3-2) (1) Insert the Mounting Bracket into the correct ECU’s Slot. (2) The Bracket is permanently attached once installed. GBS ECU Fig. 3-2 Issue: B 10/24/07 (3) Ensure the Bracket is firmly attached to the ECU. Noise Filter Vehicle Harness’ 8P (White) Screws (x2) Fig. 3-4 (e) Put the GBS ECU Assembly through the opening at the bottom of the Center Cluster Area. (Step f-n) (f) Locate the Boss on the Upper Part of the Heater Unit. Loosely install the GBS ECU Mounting Bracket and Noise Filter using the existing screw. (Fig. 3-6) Screw (1) Do not tighten the Screw yet. Fig. 3-6 (g) Put 2 Washers between the Noise Filter’s Bracket and Boss. Loosely secure it with existing Screw. (Fig. 3-7) (1) Do not forget the Washers, when re-installing the Noise Filter. Screw Fig. 3-7 (h) Install the RSE Audio Interface Module (AIM) Bracket. (1) Refer to the DVD Headrest RSE Installation Instructions (PN: PT900-35070) for additional information on this process. (i) Place the GBS Bracket onto the AIM Bracket’s Stud as shown. (Fig. 3-8) Fig. 3-8 AIM Bracket (j) Place the AIM unit on the AIM Bracket Studs. (Fig. 3-9) (k) Secure the AIM unit to the AIM Bracket as described in the DVD Headrest RSE Installation Instructions (PN: PT900-35070). (Fig. 3-10) V5 Harness (n) Secure the Microphone Connector’s Harness to the Vehicles Noise Filter Harness with 1 Wire Tie. (steps o-u) (p) Locate the Boss on the Bottom of the Heater Unit, align it with 2 bottom Holes on the GBS ECU Mounting Bracket. Loosely install the GBS ECU with 1 M6 Screw supplied. (Fig. 3-12) Screw (1) Do not tighten the Screw yet. Phillips Offset Screwdriver Boss GBS ECU (q) Locate the Boss on the Upper Part of the Heater Unit. Loosely install the GBS ECU Mounting Bracket and Noise Filter using the existing screw. (Fig. 3-13) (1) Do not tighten the Screw yet. Secure it with existing Screw. (Fig. 3-14) Boss GBS ECU (2) Verify the Screw is tightened securely. Washers (x2) Fig. 3-14 (1) Do not forget the Washer, when re-installing the Noise Filter. (s) Secure the 2 GBS ECU Mounting Bracket Screws. (Fig. 3-14) Screw (Existing) GBS ECU (t) Attach 1 piece of Foam Tape to the GBS ECU Mounting Bracket as shown. (Fig. 4-2) (1) Run the wire tie between the Reinforcement and the Vehicle Harness. Foam Tape (d) Apply 1 piece of Foam Tape to the Brace in the upper portion of the Glove Box Area as showne. (Fig. 4-3) Brace Foam Tape Brace Fig. 4-3 5. V5 ECU Preparation and Installation. (a) Insert the V5 ECU Mounting Bracket into the indicated Bracket Slot on the V5 ECU. (Fig. 5-1) V5 ECU Mounting Bracket (1) Insert the Mounting Bracket into the correct ECU Slot. V5 ECU (2) The Bracket is permanently attached once installed. (3) Ensure the Bracket is firmly attached to the ECU. Fig. 5-1 V5 ECU Mounting Bracket (b) Attach 1 piece of Foam Tape to the V5 ECU Mounting Bracket. Fold the Foam Tape around the Bracket as shown. (Fig. 5-3) 10mm, Deep Socket Connector Block (1) Do not discard the Nut. Nut Fig. 5-3 Bracket (d) Connect the V5 White 40P Connector to the V5 ECU. (Fig. 5-4) (1) Verify secure connection. V5 ECU 40P V5 Harness Fig. 5-4 (f) Position the V5 ECU Mounting Bracket onto the Vehicle Bracket’s Stud Bolt as shown. ECU Mounting Bracket 10mm Deep Socket, Phillips Screwdriver Reinforcement V5 ECU Mounting Bracket Bracket (2) Verify that the V5 ECU Mounting Bracket does not interfere with the Vehicle’s Bracket. Nut (Existing) Issue: B Screw 10/24/07 (g) Loosely install the V5 ECU Mounting Bracket with Existing Nut. (Fig. 5-5) (1) Do not tighten the Nut yet. Stud Bolt Fig. 5-5 (e) Put the V5 ECU behind the Dashboard through the opening in the upper portion of the Glove Box Area as shown. (Fig. 5-4) (h) Secure the V5 ECU Mounting Bracket to the Hole in the Reinforcement with 1 Screw (M6 size) supplied. Tighten the existing Nut. V5 ECU V5 ECU Mounting Bracket Side Cutter Reinforcement Brace V5 Harness Extra Large Wire Tie (a) Position the V5 Harness behind the Vehicle Brace in the Glove Box Area. Secure it to the Reinforcement with 1 Extra Large Wire Tie. (Fig. 6-1) (1) Put the Extra Large Wire Tie through the ECU Mounting Bracket opening. (b) Route the V5 Harness to the right side of the Glove Box Area. Secure it to the Vehicle Harness with 2 Wire Ties. (Fig. 6-1) Wire Ties (x2) Fig. 6-1 (c) Remove the Tape securing the Vehicle White 4P Connector in the right side of the Glove Box Area. (Fig. 6-3) (1) Verify Connectors are plugged in securely. (e) Secure the 4P Connector to the Vehicle Harness with 1 Wire Tie. (Fig. 6-3) (f) Route the V5 Ground Terminal toward the Passenger’s Side Cowl Area. (Fig. 6-3) (g) Locate and remove the Bolt securing the Vehicle Ground Wire Terminal in the Passenger’s Side Cowl Area. (Fig. 6-4) (1) Do not discard the Bolt. (Fig. 6-5) (1) Verify the Bolt is tightened securely. V5 Harness’ Ground Wire Terminal (i) Secure the V5 Harness to the Vehicle Harness with 2 Wire Ties. (Fig. 6-6) Side Cutter V5 Harness Wire Ties (x2) Fig. 6-6 Center Cluster Cover 7. Microphone Installation. (a) Insert the Microphone into the Knockout Opening in the Center Cluster as shown. Window Label Installation For US Vehicles use the English Labels and discard the Spanish Labels. For Mexico Vehicles use the Spanish Labels and discard the English Labels. Clear Tape Lineup with Bottom of Window Etching Window Label 10mm (a) Using Household Windex, clean the inside of the Front Door Windows. (Fig. 5-1) (1) When cleaning with Household Windex, follow the Manufacture's Directions. (b) Place the Warning Labels on the inside of the Front Door Windows as shown. (Fig. 5-1) (1) Use a piece of clean adhesive tape to lift the Labels off their protective backing. CAUTION: do not touch the labels adhesive surface. (2) Line up the labels properly and place on the glass. Do not attempt to reposition the Labels once they and place. (3) If the Label is begin installed with other Window Labels align it horizontally with the other Labels and 1-5mm from the last Label. (1) Reconnect any Disconnected Connectors. (2) Verify the Panels Fit Together properly with no uneven Gaps between them. (b) Confirm securing the Driver’s Side Cowl Cover Ribs and the Vehicle’s Claw. The turn signal lights flash once All doors lock. The security LED lights up. 2 Wait 30 seconds. Security LED starts flashing; the system is now armed. 3 Press and release the remote control’s unlock button to disarm the system. The turn signal lights flash twice. The driver’s door unlocks. The Security LED flashing. Open the driver’s door, insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to "ON". Roll down all the windows, remove the key and exit the vehicle. 4 Arm and disarm the system with the remote again, then wait 60 seconds. The doors automatically relock. 5 Press and release the remote control’s unlock button again to stop the arming process. Refer to step 3. 6 Insert the key into the driver’s door key cylinder and turn it toward the front of the vehicle to start the arming process. All doors lock. The Security LED lights up. 7 Wait 30 seconds. Security LED starts flashing; the system is now armed. 8 Reach inside and manually unlock the driver’s door to trigger an alarm. The driver’s door automatically relocks. The system automatically starts the arming process. The horn sounds repeatedly. The headlights flash repeatedly. The turn signal lights flash repeatedly. The Security LED lights up. 9 Manually unlock the driver’s door again and hold it unlocked, open the door, then sit in the driver’s seat. The driver’s door lock attempts to lock repeatedly. The horn continues to sound repeatedly. The headlights and turn signal lights continue flashing. The Security LED remains on. 10 Press and release the remote control’s unlock button to disarm the system. The horn stops sounding. All the lights stop flashing and/or turn off. The LED turns off. The turn signal lights flash twice. The drivers door unlocks. Issue: B 10/24/07 Page 21 of 25 pages TOYOTA FJ CRUISER 2008 - Procedure 11 TVIP V5 RS3200PLUS With the door open, press the lock switch on the door to lock the doors, then close the door to start the system’s arming process. All doors lock. 12 Wait 30 seconds. Security LED starts flashing; the system is now armed. 13 Reach inside and manually unlock the front passenger’s door to trigger an alarm. The front passenger’s door automatically relocks. The Security LED lights up. The horn sounds repeatedly. The headlights flash repeatedly. The turn signal lights flash repeatedly. The Security LED lights up. 14 Press and release the remote control’s unlock button to stop the alarm. The horn stops sounding. All the lights stop flashing. The LED flashing. 15 Press and release the remote control’s lock button to start the system’s arming process, then wait 30 seconds until the system is armed. Refer to steps 1 and 2. 16 Unlock and open one of the rear passenger doors to trigger an alarm. (if available). Refer to step 13. 17 Press and release the remote control’s unlock button to stop the alarm. Refer to Step 14 18 Repeat the above steps with the other rear passenger door. (if available). Refer to steps 1, 2, and 13. Roll up all windows, remove the key and exit the vehicle. 20 Press and release the remote control’s lock button to start the arming process. Refer to step 1. 21 Wait 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, the Security LED starts flashing; the system is now armed. (50°-90° F) 22 With the tip of a key, or Striker Tool pulled all the way out (PPO only), tap the center of the driver’s door window to trigger the alarm. The horn sounds repeatedly. The headlights flash repeatedly. The turn signal lights flash repeatedly. The Security LED lights up. 23 Insert the key into the driver’s door key cylinder and turn it toward the back of the vehicle to stop the alarm. Refer to step 10. NOTE: If the alarm does not trigger during functional verifications, increase the GBS sensitivity to the next setting. NOTE: If you do not disarm the system, the alarm will last 20 seconds. It is not necessary to check the alarm duration.
