Baron-engraved rifles help net $15,000 for U.S. Biathlon Team
Trumbull, CT — During the two weeks when you were watching the athletes go for the gold at
the 2010 Winter Olympic Games on your big-screen HD TV sets, auctions took place behind
the scenes on Gunbroker.com to help raise funds for the United States Biathlon team. A total
of 50 “Team USA 2010” Savage Arms Mk II BTVS rifles, each one having an individual marking
for its state—such as CT 2010, was
auctioned off and garnered various
amounts that added up to the final total.
Baron engraved and hand-painted
the left side of each gun’s special red,
white and blue laminated stock with the
inscription “Team USA Vancouver 2010”
and the United States Biathlon Association
logo (both painted in blue). Also, each
engraved-in-the-USA rifle featured a serial
number that included a state designation
and the year: 2010.
Baron engraved all 50 Savage Arms Mk II BTVS rifles that were
auctioned off to benefit the U.S. Biathlon Team. After the
laminated stocks were engraved, they were meticulously handpainted with blue and gold. (Baron Engraving Photo.)
By the time the auctions ended on
the Olympics’ closing night, the program yielded nearly $15,000 for the team. The auction was
organized as part of the GunBroker.com-Hunting Heritage Trust “Heritage Partners” program
to benefit selected non-profits working in support of the hunting and shooting sports.
“The Savage Mark II BTVS is a very desirable rifle straight out of the factory, but the
engraving added by the artisans at Baron Engraving made all the difference in this being just a
successful program and being an extremely successful program for our U.S. Biathlon team,”
commented Bob Delfay, President of the Hunting Heritage Trust.
“Baron Engraving is very proud to have worked on these 50 rifles, which helped to raise
funds for the United States Biathlon Team,” said David Baron, president of Baron Engraving.
