Excursion 1: FOUGERES-SUR-BIEVRE | 24 km
Discover the Château of Fougères-sur-Bièvre, the unique example of feudal style that illustrates the 15th
century architecture. Do not miss to stop for a wine tasting in a local producer along your route: you are
in the Cheverny appellation!
Excursion 2: CHEVERNY | 23 km
Your itinerary leads you through Château de Troussay, a small château from Renaissance style and via the
Château de Cheverny, well-known for its sumptuously furnished and decorated apartments, which
inspired Hergé's vision of Marlinspike in the adventures of Tintin!
Excursion 3: BEAUREGARD | 14 km
Take the opportunity to visit the Château of Beauregard famous for its Portrait Gallery and to enjoy the
huge park of 70ha with English style gardens. Enjoy a day between vineyards, fields and gardens to relax.
Excursion 4: CHAMBORD | 54 km
Cycle through the rich Domain of Chambord forest, where a stop is essential to visit the most famous and
majestic château in the Loire Valley. In its Renaissance splendour, the Château de Chambord boasts no
less than 440 rooms.
Excursion 5: BLOIS | 33 km
Through the forest to finally reach the Loire river banks and the nice town of Blois, worth visiting for its
old quarter and also its château offering a brilliant illustration of the evolution of French architecture
from the Middle Ages to the 17th century.
Excursion 6: CHAUMONT-SUR-LOIRE | 37 km
Passing by the countryside routes before reaching the Loire banks at Chaumont-sur-Loire where you can
visit the nice Château overlooking the Loire. The ‘’garden festival’’ where you will be able to admire
different interpretations of artistic garden composition based on a common theme takes place every year
in its majestic park.
Excursion 7: SOLOGNE AREA | 42 km
Cycle to the heart of the Sologne area between forest and ponds. Along your ride, you may stop in
vineyards of Appellation "Cheverny", so do not hesitate to visit a local wine producer to sample a glass of
Cheverny blanc !

Royal stay in châteaux country area
Stay in a refined environment, marked with charm and abundant history and surrounded by
beautiful green scenery. You will stay in the heart of Cheverny AOC vineyards and close to the
famous château which inspired Herge for his Tintin comic adventures. Discover the numerous
châteaux of the area along the cycling and walking paths. This establishment offers two types of
accommodation with different atmospheres: Le Verger: renovated rooms with refined decoration
situated in the former orchards. This building will offer you peaceful moments and bucolic charms.
Le Château: a wonderful manor house from the 18th century with original and elegant decoration.

A stage in Sologne, first to Château of Villesavin before reaching the famous Château of Chambord, where

Excursion 2: BLOIS | 46 km
Through numerous typical villages, reach the Loire river banks and the nice town of Blois, worth visiting
for its old quarter and also its château offering a brilliant illustration of the evolution of French
architecture from the Middle Ages to the 17th century. Then return through the forest of Russy.
Excursion 3 : CHÂTEAU OF CHAUMONT-SUR-LOIRE | 49 km

Walking excursions :
Excursion 4 : WALK IN SOLOGNE FOREST | 12.3 km
Sologne is land of hunting and fishing. Discover along this excursion the reason of the King’s interest for
this area. On the walking paths and the small countryside routes, listen to the wind through the forest, the
birds and other wild animals living here freely (except during the hunting period), learn about the local

flowers, mushrooms and have a rest along one of the numerous ponds. This stage will guide you in the
heart of the Sologne forest’s treasures.
Excursion 5 : CHÂTEAU OF TROUSSAY | 12.5 km
Your itinerary takes you through Château de Troussay, a small château from Renaissance style and via
numerous vineyards of Cheverny appellation. Along this excursion, you will have numerous possibilities
to taste wine in local producer’s cellars. This vineyard produces fine, fresh, fruity white and red wines
perfectly expressing the typicity of their soils and landscapes.

Bike tour around the royal city of Amboise
A stay in the heart of the charming royal town of Amboise, where you are invited to visit the
various Touraine vineyards and discover the treasures of history, architecture and culture on our
range of excursions. Located a stone's throw from the château and the Leonardo Da Vinci Park,
your delightful sumptuous 17th century house converted into a charming hotel, with open air

- EXCURSION TO CHENONCEAU | 41 km
Once you have crossed the forest of Amboise, you will come to the famous Château de Chenonceau,
straddling the Cher river, which was the scene of a famous rivalry in French history: that of Diane de
Poitiers and Catherine de Medici.

Leave Loire banks to reach the picturesque Vouvray vineyards, surrounded by troglodyte houses, and

Follow the meandering country roads which bring you to the banks of the Loire in Chaumont-sur-Loire,

Loire à Velo: bike tour from Nevers to Orléans
Discover the new part of the « Loire à Vélo » and enjoy the wildest part of the Loire river. From
Nevers to Orléans, follow the Santiago de Compostela paths, ride through the Sancerre vineyards,
until the canal-bridge in Briare … before the reaching Orléans, Joan of Arc’s town.

Ride over the Loire river using the “canal bridge” then proceed to Saint Brisson sur Loire and its

The gentle “Loire à Vélo” path on ‘’family’’ tour
Here is a special route for not very well experienced cyclist … or the younger one!
Follow the ‘Loire à vélo’ cycling paths with short and easy stages,
using cycling tracks or not heavy traffic roads.
Version A: from Orléans to Tours
Discover the royal valley by longing the majestic river from Orléans to Tours where thousands of
treasures are waiting for you: historical heritage and testimony with numerous châteaux,
wonderful landscapes of different natural areas, regional gastronomy delights…
Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ORLÉANS
Discover Orléans and its old historical centre, situated between the large countryside fields of Beauce
area, green pastures, ponds and forest of Sologne area.
Day 2: ORLÉANS – BEAUGENCY | 26 km
Longing the wild Loire river banks for a stage in calm and serenity, through the charming and very
flowered city of Beaugency.
Day 3: BEAUGENCY – ST. DYÉ SUR LOIRE | 20 km
Follow the "Loire à Vélo" cycling paths to Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire which was the former port of Chambord.
Then ride through the impressive Chambord forest to join the prestigious Château de Chambord, real
French Renaissance masterpiece with more than 440 rooms, built during Francis 1st reign.
Dinner & accommodation in an unclassified hotel – similar to 3* category
Day 4: ST. DYÉ SUR LOIRE – BLOIS | 25 km
Ride to Blois, and do not forget to discover the town with its typical pedestrian streets and its château
offering a brilliant illustration of the evolution of French architecture from the Middle Ages to the 17th
century.

Day 5: BLOIS – CHAUMONT SUR LOIRE | 21 km
Follow the small countryside routes until the Château of Chaumont overlooking the Loire River. In its
park the ‘’Festival des Jardins’’ takes place every year, where you will be able to admire the different
interpretations of artistic garden composition based on a common theme.
Day 6: CHAUMONT SUR LOIRE – AMBOISE | 22 km
Along the Loire river or through the vineyards, ride to Amboise and its royal château from 15th –16th
century. Few streets further, is the last home of Leonardo Da Vinci: Manorhouse of ‘Clos Lucé’
Day 7: AMBOISE – TOURS | 27 km
Ride through the vineyards of Montlouis to discover the numerous cellars that offer sweet white or
sparkling wines. Then, enjoy the lovely château de la Bourdaisière, birthplace of Gabrielle d’Estrées, the
favourite of King Henri IV. Continue to the heart of the city of Tours to discover the old quarters
sheltering the famous ‘’Place Plumereau’’ and its half-timbered houses.
Day 8: DEPARTURE
Version B: from Tours to Saumur
This part of the Loire Valley is the most doted in châteaux and vineyards. Follow the Loire River
which will guide you from historical places to famous cellars for tasting. Enjoy the ‘French art de
vivre’ along the peaceful and wild landscapes.
Day 1: ARRIVAL IN TOURS
Visit the city of Tours to discover its old quarters and its typical half-timbered houses.
Day 2: Tours – Villandy | 21 km
Follow ‘Loire à vélo’ cycling path and reach Villandry and its famous ‘French style’ Renaissance gardens.
Enjoy the ‘Ornamental kitchen Garden’, the ‘Garden of Love’, the ‘Water Garden’ and the ‘Sun Garden’.
These artistic gardens vary with seasons to make each visit an astonishment!
Day 3: Villandy – Azay le Rideau | 24 km
Ride towards Chateau of Saché, the place of inspiration of the famous French author Honoré de Balzac.
This garden which has inspired the novel ‘Le Lys dans la Vallée’ will guide you through Lis and peonies.
Then, continue to Azay le Rideau and its chateau: a Renaissance marvel in a setting of water and greenery.
Day 4: Azay le Rideau – Rigny Ussé | 18 km
Depart towards Langeais and its 15th century château offering a typical form of a medieval fortified castle
where you could admire wonderful tapestries and piece of furniture. Then ride towards the ‘Sleeping
Beauty’ chateau in Ussé which has inspired Perrault for its famous fairy tail story.

Day 5: Rigny Ussé – Chinon | 17 km
Ride across the Chinon forest before reaching the medieval town through the vineyards where you may
visit one of the numerous cellars built on the banks of the river Vienne and that are so famous thanks to
the red wine!
Day 6: Chinon – Fontevraud | 23 km
Leave the medieval city of Chinon riding through the vineyards direction the abbey of Fontevraud, the
largest monastic city remaining in Europe which is the Necropolis of the Plantagenêts sovereigns.
Accommodation in a charming guest house and dinner in a local restaurant
Day 7: Fontevraud – Saumur | 17 km
Cycle through the ‘Saumur ‘ & ‘Saumur Champigny’ vineyards towards the village of Candes-Saint-Martin
where you can visit the magnificent 12th and 13th century collegiate church. Then proceed to the
beautiful village of Montsoreau before joining the city of Saumur, charming city dominated by its
impressive chateau.

From the royal Touraine to the Anjou vineyards
An incomparable journey through the vineyards of Touraine and Saumur, passing via many
sumptuous châteaux and medieval towns dotted along the way. Enjoy a walk through an
authentic rural environment along typical countryside lanes that the only Loire Valley area can

Day 1: Arrival in Tours
You will have the opportunity to visit the heart of the city, especially the old quarters including the
famous ‘Place Plumereau’ with its half-timbered houses and the gothic cathedral.
Day 2: Transfer by taxi to Villandry : Villandry – Azay le Rideau | 17 km
Do not hesitate to visit in Villandry the famous Gardens ‘à la française’, matchless in Europe and
composed of 3 superposed terraces ! This stage will bring you to the Indre Valley passing via Azay le
Rideau and its Renaissance château: a jewel in a wonderful setting of water and green !

Day 4: Excursion around Chinon | 17 km
An excursion through the vineyards of Chinon where you will have the opportunity to enter and visit

Day 5: Chinon – Fontevraud | 17 km
Leave Chinon following the Vienne River to reach Fontevraud, well-known for its amazing Abbey which is
the largest monastic city remaining in Europe.

Day 6: Excursion to Montsoreau | 14 km
Excursion towards Montsoreau, a charming village on the Loire River, where you will have the possibility
to visit incomparable troglodyte sites which have become mushroom beds installed in an old carrier
where the “tuffeau” stone used to be extracted.
Day 7: Transfer by taxi to Turquant : Turquant – Saumur | 11 km
Depart from Turquant for a stage through the vineyards of ‘Saumur’ and ‘Saumur-Champigny’ towards
Saumur, a nice historical town overlooked by its imposing château.

Day 2: Blois – Bracieux | 21 km ou 19 km
Departure for a walking stage through the forest to reach the pretty village Bracieux situated at the door of the
Sologne area !
Day 3: Excursion Bracieux – Chambord – Bracieux | 19 km + optional 4 km
Walking excursion to the prestigious Château of Chambord, the widest Château of the Loire Valley mainly built
under the king Francis the First, passing by the Forest Estate covering more than 5500ha.

Day 4: Bracieux – Chitenay | 21 km
Walk in direction of Cheverny well known for its Château still inhabited by the owners and hunting traditions
before proceeding to the typical and charming village of Chitenay.
Day 5: transfer by taxi to Choussy : Choussy – Montrichard | 19 km or 17 km
Leave the Sologne area through the vineyards, and then you will reach the Cher Valley and the villages of
Bourré and Montrichard. Overlooked by vineyards, these typical villages shelter incomparable underground
sites: mushroom bed installed in an old carrier where the Bourré’s “tuffeau” used to be extracted and where
you can now discover the astonishing mushrooms cultivation.

Day 6: Excursion Montrichard – Chenonceaux – Montrichard | 21 km or 25 km
Following the Cher river, this excursion will bring you to Chenonceaux, famous for its Renaissance chateau
spanning the river and still steeped in memories of the famous ladies in French History: Diane de Poitiers and
Catherine de Medicis.

Day 7: Montrichard – Amboise | 21 km or 26 km
Leave the Cher river to join the Loire River. You will cross the forest of Amboise before reaching the charming
town of Amboise where you will have the opportunity to visit the Royal Château (where lived the most
important Kings of France) or the Parc Leonardo Da Vinci, last home of Leonardo da Vinci sheltering an
astonishing collection of models representing the fabulous inventions of this Renaissance genius.
