PART 1: INTRODUCTION

regarding the programs and other aspects of life at Retail Ready Career Center. All policies and procedures
contained herein will apply equally to all Students and any questions concerning the information contained

Career Center or Robert Saunders, Chief Legal Counsel.
Here at Retail Ready Career Center, our goal is to build an educational institution where Students feel safe,
valued, challenged, highly committed and proud to be part of the School’s programs. We strive to provide
a positive academic environment for all Students and we rely heavily on teamwork. We encourage open
and direct communications and strive to create an atmosphere where achievements will be rewarded and
recognized. The policies and procedures outlined in this School Catalog provide a framework that, together
with our vision and mission, will assist you in making quality decisions and help you build a successful future
for yourself.
Retail Ready Career Center has a culturally diverse educational and work environment. The School is committed
to a policy of equal opportunity, non-discrimination, and non-retaliation for any member of RRCC’s community
on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, veterans’ or marital status,
sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected group status. This policy applies to all employees,
faculty, applicants, Students and visitors in a manner consistent with applicable federal, state and local
laws, rules regulations, and ordinances. This policy of non-discrimination addresses all aspects of Student
life and/or academic environment, and therefore, Retail Ready Career Center expressly prohibits unlawful

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), RRCC will make reasonable accommodations to
known physical or mental limitations of a qualified Student with a disability to enable such persons to enjoy
the benefits and privileges of being a Student, so long as such accommodations does not impose an undue
burden on the School. To be protected by the ADA, a Student must have a physical or mental impairment that
substantially limits one or more major life activities. Major life activities include functions such as caring for
oneself, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, and standing. Students
may request a reasonable accommodation by contacting the Director of Student Services.
The online publication serves as the official resource which reflects the official policies adopted by the School
and describes the practices and procedures developed for each program of study for which each Student must
comply. Students are responsible for reviewing this School Catalog and Student Handbook in its entirety and
they are required to sign the acknowledgment page certifying that they agree to be bound by the terms and
condition contained herein. If any policies are amended and/or revised, Students will only be required to
comply with the edition of the School Catalog and Student Handbook in which the Student signed.

1.2: EDUCATION OBJECTIVES
To give prospective Students the option of an application based education that empowers them with skills
and knowledge that translates into the job in which they seek rather than a limited, theory based, general
knowledge education.
Retail Ready Career Center is evolving education into the 21st century by removing non-applicable subjects
and materials from the curriculum and only incorporating relevant material of the specific career in which
Students are passionate about and have elected as their chosen path.
By building a relationship with the business community and incorporating their needs into the Retail Ready
Career Center’s curriculum, the structure is transformed from being focused on length of time and amount of
general subjects to a curriculum that is built upon the core job functions that the graduate will be required to
perform upon graduation.

admissions representative. The representative conducting the interview will determine if the applicant has
the ability and qualifications to satisfactorily complete the course material. Parents and/or significant others

The award of an initial scholarship does not guarantee the award of an additional scholarship
to the Student.
• Additional or subsequent scholarships are contingent upon the Student maintaining good
academic, financial, and legal standing.
AWARD NOTIFICATION
All applicants are notified by an Admissions Counselor if a Presidential Scholarship is granted.
2.8: PRIVATE LOAN
Students interested in financing their education at Retail Ready Career Center have the option of applying for
approval for a private loan. If the Student has completed and returned the Conditional Letter of Acceptance
from Retail Ready Career Center, the Student has already given enough information and permission to run a
credit check to see if the Student qualifies. Also, the School can send the Student a credit application to fill out
and return and it generally takes 24-48 hours to receive the results back.
A Student’s credit score is one of the main determining factors as to whether or not the Student will qualify for
financing. The Student’s credit score will also help determine what interest rate the Student will be eligible to
receive. Retail Ready Career Center has a two level policy for loan eligibility and interest rates. Level 1 or Tier 1
is for those with a minimum FICO score of 710 or higher. Level 2 or Tier 2 is for those with a FICO score of 676
to 709. If the Student’s credit or FICO score is below 676, the Student does not qualify for the loan program.
Depending on what tier the Student may qualify for, a co-buyer may not be necessary, however they are
always encouraged and the Student’s loan may come with an incentive for having a co-buyer. Co-buyers must
have a minimum credit or FICO score 710 or higher and there may be other stipulations depending on your
circumstances.
Please contact a Financial Aid representative at Retail Ready Career Center for further assistance and to see if
you qualify for a private Student loan.

2.9: CREDIT CHECK POLICY
Credit report or FICO score checks (collectively herein referred to as “Credit Checks”) will be conducted on all
conditionally accepted applicants wanting to apply for a private Student loan prior to their enrollment in either
Retail Ready Career Center Program. Retail Ready Career Center will designate a company to conduct the
Credit Checks and this company will issue reports directly to the Financial Aid Office. The School’s Conditional
Letter of Acceptance and Enrollment Application will inform prospective Students about the credit check
policy and our website will provide the prospective Student a copy of his/her rights according to the Fair Credit
Reporting Act (“FCRA”). Final loan approval is conditionally based upon several factors, including but not
limited to a satisfactory credit report, which must be approved prior to matriculation.
The purposes of conducting Credit Checks are multiple:
• to assure compliance with various regulatory or accrediting agencies that require or recommend
such checks;
• to determine creditworthiness for a private Student loan;
• to support RRCC’s commitment to risk management.
Enrollment will not be final until the completion of the credit check, the result of which is deemed acceptable
to the Program. In addition, prospective Students must meet the institution’s academic standards, provisions
of acceptance and admission requirements that are not covered in the credit check policy. Applicants and/or
Students who do not consent to the required credit check, refuse to provide information necessary to conduct
the credit check, or provide false or misleading information in regard to the credit check will be subject to
disciplinary action up to, and including, refusal of admission or immediate termination/dismissal from either
Program.
Retail Ready Career Center complies with all federal and state law requirements for consumer and credit
reports when information contained in the reports is used as a basis for taking adverse action against the
individual. The Financial Aid Office or his designee will be responsible for reviewing the credit report and any
other information provided that may be relevant to the final admission decision of the conditionally admitted
applicant and will decide whether the results of the credit investigation disqualify the conditionally admitted
applicant from final admission into either Program.
The Financial Aid Office or its designee may require the prospective applicant to meet in person or provide a
detailed, written description and explanation of the information contained in the credit records report along
with appropriate documentation. If the credit check reveals that the candidate has a history of bad debt, the
individual may be disqualified from receiving a loan. Subsequent Credit Checks may be repeated after the
initial check for any and all current Students as the School may deem necessary in accordance with applicable
policies and as noted in the Student Catalog and Handbook. All expenses associated with the Credit Check
Policy are the responsibility of the School.

2.10: BACKGROUND CHECK POLICY
Criminal Background Checks and driver’s license checks (collectively herein referred to as “Background
Checks”) will be conducted on all conditionally accepted applicants prior to their enrollment in the HVAC
Maintenance Ready Tech Program (the “Program”) and the Computer Repair Technician Program. Additional
Background Checks may be run on current Students if they are required by the Program. Retail Ready Career
Center will designate a company to conduct the Background Checks and this company will issue reports
directly to the Office of the President or his designees in the Office of Chief Legal Counsel or the Office of
Admissions. The School’s Conditional Letter of Acceptance and Enrollment Application will inform prospective
Students about the background check policy and the School’s website serves to provide the prospective
Student a copy of his/her rights according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”). Final admittance into
either Program is conditional on a satisfactory background report which must be completed and approved
prior to matriculation. Any omission of required information, including the failure to provide the consent, or
submitting false, misleading or incomplete information by the prospective or current Student may result in
withdrawal of conditional acceptance and/or immediate termination/dismissal from either Program.
REASON FOR POLICY
The purposes of conducting Background Checks are multiple:
• to ascertain the ability of the Student to maintain or eventually become licensed and/or certified

Enrollment will not be final until the completion of the background check, the result of which is deemed
acceptable to the Program. Applicants and/or Students who do not consent to the required background check,
refuse to provide information necessary to conduct the background check, or provide false or misleading
information in regard to the background check will be subject to disciplinary action up to, and including,
refusal of admission or immediate termination/dismissal from the Program. All expenses associated with the
Background Checks are the responsibility of the School.
EXAMINATION OF INFORMATION OBTAINED THROUGH BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS
The background check will only report convictions, conviction equivalent adjudications, all arrests without
final adjudication (both felonies and misdemeanors) and driving related convictions or tickets. Since the
background check is performed as part of the nationwide search, the rules and regulations of the Fair Credit
Reporting Act will apply. Please see our website for all of your rights according to The Fair Credit Reporting Act.
The Office of the President or his designee will be responsible for reviewing the background report and any
other information provided that may be relevant to the final admission decision of the conditionally admitted
applicant. The Office of the President or his designee will decide whether the results of the background
investigation disqualify the conditionally admitted applicant from final admission and matriculation into either
Program. The Office of the President or his designee may require the prospective applicant to meet in person
or provide a detailed, written description and explanation of the information contained in the background
records report along with appropriate documentation, such as police reports, certified court records and any
institutional correspondence and orders.
SUBSEQUENT BACKGROUND CHECKS
Subsequent Background Checks may be repeated after the initial check for any and all current Students as
the School may deem necessary in accordance with applicable policies. According to this School Catalog
and Student Handbook, Students are required, on a continuing basis, to disclose in writing to the School
any criminal convictions that occur since their original disclosure they completed with their application for
admission.
Applicants who fail to report a new criminal conviction may have their offer of acceptance rescinded and/or
their enrollment terminated immediately. For new criminal convictions reported by enrolled Students, the
Office of the President or his designee will review the information and determine whether any disciplinary
action is warranted. As deemed necessary, Students will be advised of the ramifications for professional
licensure/certification and whether any new convictions will affect their enrollment status.

PART 3: CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY
3.1: CANCELLATION POLICY
A full refund will be made to any Student who cancels the enrollment contract within 72 hours (until midnight
of the third day excluding Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays) after the enrollment contract is signed. A
full refund will also be made to any Student who cancels enrollment within the Student’s first three scheduled
class days, except that the School may retain not more than $100 in any administrative fees charged, as well
as items of extra expense that are necessary for the portion of either program attended and stated separately
on the enrollment agreement.
3.2: REFUND POLICY
1. Refund computations will be based on scheduled course time of class attendance through the last date
of attendance. Leaves of absence, suspensions and School holidays will not be counted as part of the
scheduled class attendance.
2. The effective date of termination for refund purposes will be the earliest of the following:
a. The last day of attendance, if the Student is terminated by the School;
b. The date of receipt of written notice from the Student; or
c. Ten School days following the last date of attendance.
3. If tuition and fees are collected in advance of entrance, and if after expiration of the 72 hour cancellation
privilege the Student does not enter School, not more than $100 in any administrative fees charged shall
be retained by the School for the entire residence program or synchronous distance education course.
4. If a Student enters a residence or synchronous distance education program and withdraws or is otherwise
terminated after the cancellation period, the School or college may retain not more than $100 in any
administrative fees charged for the entire program. The minimum refund of the remaining tuition and
fees will be the pro-rata portion of tuition, fees, and other charges that the number of hours remaining
in the portion of the course or program for which the Student has been charged after the effective date
of termination bears to the total number of hours in the portion of the course or program for which the
Student has been charged, except that a Student may not collect a refund if the Student has completed
75 percent or more of the total number of hours in the portion of the program for which the Student has
been charged on the effective date of termination.
5. Refunds for items of extra expense to the Student, such as books, tools, or other supplies are to be
handled separately from refund of tuition and other academic fees. The Student will not be required to

purchase instructional supplies, books and tools until such time as these materials are required. Once
these materials are purchased, no refund will be made. For full refunds, the School can withhold costs
for these types of items from the refund as long as they were necessary for the portion of the program
attended and separately stated in the enrollment agreement. Any such items not required for the portion
of the program attended must be included in the refund.
6. A Student who withdraws for a reason unrelated to the Student’s academic status after the 75 percent
completion mark and requests a grade at the time of withdrawal shall be given a grade of “incomplete”
and permitted to re-enroll in the course or program during the 12-month period following the date the
Student withdrew without payment of additional tuition for that portion of the course or program.
7. A full refund of all tuition and fees is due and refundable in each of the following:
a. An enrollee is not accepted by the School;
b. If the course of instruction is discontinued by the School and this prevents the Student from
completing the course; or
c. If the Student’s enrollment was procured as a result of any misrepresentation in advertising,
promotional materials of the School, or representations by the owner or representatives of the
School.
A full or partial refund may also be due in other circumstances of program deficiencies or violations of
requirements for career Schools and colleges.
8. REFUND POLICY FOR STUDENTS CALLED TO ACTIVE MILITARY SERVICE:
A Student of the School or college who withdraws from the School or college as a result of the Student
being called to active duty in a military service of the United States or the Texas National Guard may
elect one of the following options for each program in which the Student is enrolled:
a. If tuition and fees are collected in advance of the withdrawal, a pro-rata refund of any tuition, fees,
or other charges paid by the Student for the program and a cancellation of any unpaid tuition, fees,
or other charges owed by the Student for the portion of the program the Student does not complete
following withdrawal;
b. A grade of incomplete with the designation “withdrawn-military” for the courses in the program,
other than courses for which the Student has previously received a grade on the Student’s transcript,
and the right to re-enroll in the program, or a substantially equivalent program if that program is
no longer available, not later than the first anniversary of the date the Student is discharged from
active military duty without payment of additional tuition, fees, or other charges for the program
other than any previously unpaid balance of the original tuition, fees, and charges for books for the
program; or

c. The assignment of an appropriate final grade or credit for the courses in the program, but only if the
instructor or instructors of the program determine that the Student has:
1. satisfactorily completed at least 90 percent of the required coursework for the program; and
2. demonstrated sufficient mastery of the program material to receive credit for completing the
program.
9. The payment of refunds will be totally completed such that the refund instrument has been negotiated
or credited into the proper account(s), within 60 days after the effective date of termination.
10. RRCC may postpone the scheduled start date for training if the Student has failed to meet all
pre-enrollment and admissions requirements including but not limited to paying required tuition and
application fees and timely submission of all required enrollment paperwork. RRCC may also postpone
the scheduled start date for training if, in its sole discretion, it determines that the course of study, faculty
staffing, or other considerations such as inclement weather make the scheduled start date impossible,
unpractical or undesirable. Under such circumstances, the Student has the option to choose a later start
date for training as long as enrollment space is available in subsequent classes.
11. RRCC will make special arrangements if at all practicable for Students with disabilities, service animals,
Students with a spouse and/or one (1) minor child or Students requiring special dietary accommodations
due to medical or religious reasons. Please contact RRCC if you need special accommodations arranged
before your arrival on campus.
12. After the 72 hour cancellation privilege has expired, no refund is permitted nor will be given to the
Student for the cost of tools and supplies. After the expiration of the 72 hour cancellation privilege, the
tools and supplies will become the property of the Student.
13. Likewise, if the Student enrolls in either program and withdraws prior to arrival, then the School will not
refund the cost of travel to the Student if the airfare has been pre-purchased and is non-refundable.

PART 4: TRAINING METHODS
4.1: THEORY VS APPLICATION
The educational strategy at Retail Ready Career Center is based upon application based teaching, practicing,
and applying the knowledge. Theory is defined as contemplation, speculation, spectator and application is
defined as the action of putting something into operation, be applicable or relevant.
Retail Ready Career Center established it’s curriculum from the business community including its own staff
and the input of heating and air conditioning and computer repair technician contractors and their vast
experience. The end result provides a comprehensive course curriculum for the Heating, Air Conditioning &
Refrigeration (HVAC) and Computer Repair Technician Program. Text material is complemented with hand’s
on lab application and practice.
Classroom discussion delivered by our qualified staff of instructors encompasses each step of area specific
subject matter ensuring a complete understanding of information and practical use of each class. Instructors
also include first hand experiences that provide real world scenarios to paint a clear picture of the corresponding
environments.
A comprehensive series of lab exercises accompany the text material providing clear direction for each Student
along with through “hands-on” learning experiences and skills practice in an updated learning lab. Extensive
Hands-On Training is conducted in modern facilities with industry equipment and material fitting to the
course content chosen. Our laboratory resources provide valuable “hands-on” experience that will prepare
Students with technical skills, confidence and motivation for their desired career field.
4.2: INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION
Testing is conducted to evaluate each Student’s level of learning and skill development. This allows our
instructors to help overcome any difficulties the Student might be having.
Class size is controlled supporting an environment allowing Students ample opportunity for one-on-one time
with their instructor. For the HVAC Maintenance Ready Tech Program, the Student to Instructor ratio in the
classroom is 30 to 1 and in the lab it is 20 to 1. For the Computer Repair Technician Program, the Student to
Instructor Ratio is 35 to1.

PART 11: ACADEMIC STANDARDS
Applies to both programs: HVAC MAINTENANCE READY TECH and COMPUTER REPAIR TECHNICIAN.
11.1: GRADING PROCEDURES
Students overall course average is derived from various components: classwork and homework assignments,
lab activities, tests, quizzes and professional attire (attire for a well-dressed technician). Lab participation
is very critical to the Student’s success hence lab exercises are designed to solidify the basic fundamentals
of the Student’s comprehension of the HVAC and Computer Repair industries. The classroom is intended
for instruction while lab exercises provide a kinesthetic approach to embracing HVAC and Computer
Repair concepts coupled with additional assignments reinforcing the day’s productivity. Tests and quizzes
demonstrate mastery of concepts and skill set that every technician should have. Retail Ready’s weighted

FAILING
Other grades issued are as follows and are not considered in the calculation of course cumulative grade:
INCOMPLETE (I)
Student’s work in a course has been of passing quality but is incomplete due to circumstance beyond the
Student’s control. (Issued only upon advance approval of the Training Director). The transcript will state “I”
and credit for what was completed will be issued and not need to be re-taken if re-admitted into the program.
WITHDRAWAL (W)
A “W” for Withdrawal indicates that the Student officially withdrew or was administratively withdrawn from
the subject class. A Student with a grade of “W” cannot complete the course of study, and will be issued a
refund in accordance with the refund policy above. Under Texas Education Code §132.061(f), a Student who is
obligated for the full tuition and is withdrawing for an appropriate reason unrelated to the Student’s academic
status may request a grade of “I” for incomplete.

11.2: HOMEWORK, QUIZZES, SECTIONAL EXAMS & MAKE-UP WORK
• Classwork, homework, tests and quizzes should be completed and turned in on the due dates
specified by the instructor.
• Students are given an opportunity to make up exams, missed lab assignments as well as
classroom time on Saturdays from 8:00 AM – 2:00PM during the same week in which the
assignment was given/missed. If a make-up session is permitted by the Student’s Instructor,
then the Instructor will determine when the assignment is due but under no circumstances will
assignments submitted after the following Saturday be accepted. No exceptions.
• No More than 10% of the total course time hours may be made up. Make up work is at the sole
discretion of the instructor. If a Student is permitted to make up missed course time hours due
to absenteeism, then the Student’s official transcript including his/her attendance record shall
reflect the made up hours and curriculum. All made up hours and coursework must still comply
with the grading policies and Student academic progress requirements contained herein. The
Student will still be marked as “absent,” however, in the attendance records, it will be notated
that the Student “made up” those hours and those hours will not be counted against his total
attendance.
• Make up work shall be supervised by an instructor.
• Make up work shall require the Student to demonstrate substantially the same level of
knowledge or competence expected of a Student who attended the scheduled class.
• Make up work shall be signed and dated by the Student to acknowledge the make-up session.
11.3: GRADE APPEAL & GRADE CHANGE POLICY
When a Student believes that his or her final grade for a course was unfair, the Student may use the process
described herein to seek resolution of the matter. The burden of proving a claim of an unfair grade (e.g.
discrimination, unjust treatment, or errors in calculation) rests with the Student. Grades are awarded or
changed only by the course instructor or through this appeals process. An appealed grade may be raised or
lowered during the course of this appeals process. The parties should make every effort to achieve consensus
and to resolve conflicts at the lowest level and as quickly as possible, especially in cases where a Student’s
timely academic progress is in jeopardy.
The Student must direct an appeal in writing to the course instructor immediately upon receiving their final
course grade. The appeal must include presentation of whatever evidence of unfair evaluation the Student
believes is relevant. It is the responsibility of all parties to make every effort to resolve their differences
between themselves and informally.

11.4: ATTENDANCE POLICY & GRADES
In order to achieve satisfactory academic progress toward an HVAC or Computer Repair certificate, the
Student has to maintain at least the minimal passing grade point average, comply with the attendance policy,
and proceed through the program at a pace leading to completion in the respective 12 days or six week
time frames for each program. Satisfactory progress is measured in clock hours. Clock hour definition: All
attendance is based on clock hours and sixty minutes is considered one hour. Students will be placed on
Academic Probation at 14 hours missed for the HVAC program and 4.8 hours missed for the Computer Repair
Tech program.
11.5: DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR IN THE CLASSROOM
A Student shall not impair, interfere with, or obstruct the orderly conduct, process, or function of the School
or any of its Students, faculty members, guests or the surrounding community. Specific violations of this
standard include, but are not limited to: 1) threatening the health, safety, or welfare of another; 2) interfering
with the freedom of movement of another; 3) invading the privacy of another; 4) interfering with the right
of another to enter, use, or leave School’s facility, property, service, resource, or activity; 5) interfering with a
faculty member in the performance of his or her duty; 6) interfering with the freedoms of speech, religion, or
association of another; 7) trespassing or the unauthorized entering or accessing the School’s campus, property,
service, resource, or activity; 8) making, exhibiting, or producing any inappropriate, loud, or disruptive noise
or behavior; 10) acting recklessly or in a manner that causes a disruption to the orderly function or operation
of the School; or 11) exhibiting public nudity or lewd behavior.
The ultimate goal of this policy is to create a safe learning atmosphere of mutual respect and courtesy which is
conducive to clarity of thought in the classroom. Instructors and Students are expected to treat each other with
respect for their scholarly intentions which are noble and worthwhile pursuits. It is the instructor’s right and
responsibility to maintain an appropriate environment for learning with the expectation of support from the
School’s administration. In order to facilitate an environment that allows for optimal Student productivity and
enrichment through instruction and engagement, this policy has been developed to assist with classroom
management as it specifically addresses disruptive behavior.
Disruptive Behavior includes all violations of the Student Conduct Policy and can be defined as behavior that
a reasonable instructor would view as interfering with normal academic functions. This may include, but is
not limited to:
• Verbal, physical, or psychological threats, harassment, and physical violence,
• Refusal to comply with reasonable instructor directions,
• Repeatedly arriving after class has begun or leaving class early,

• Distractive talking, including speaking out of turn or monopolizing discussion,
• Use of any electronic device not related to class during the class period including but not limited
to texting, emailing, social media, YouTube, etc.,
• Use of alcohol, tobacco products, or controlled substances,
• Constantly leaving class and/or walking the hallways while class is in session.
Any violation of the Student conduct policy and/or activities not germane to the content and work of the class
in session may result in the Student being asked to leave the classroom. If the instructor requires a Student to
leave the classroom because of a violation of the conduct policy, all time missed from class will be deducted
from the Student’s daily clock hours. The amount of time the Student is restricted from the classroom is at
the discretion of the instructor and will be counted adversely towards the Student’s total attendance. Each
situation will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and is at the discretion of the instructor for enforcement of
this Disruptive Behavior Policy.
11.6: STUDENT ACADEMIC PROGRESS REPORT
All Students must maintain a minimum Student Academic Progress (“SAP”) as measured by both Qualitative
and Quantitative Standards as outlined in the chart in section 11.1 above. Any Retail Ready Career Center
Student may be dismissed from the School for failing to make satisfactory academic progress towards
completing their educational program.
The qualitative component of the Students’ SAP refers to the Student’s grade point average while the
quantitative component refers to the rate of the Student’s progress as it relates to course completion and
attendance. The School evaluates each Student’s academic progress at the end of each grading period which
ends every week on Friday unless otherwise noted on the academic calendar. For the HVAC Maintenance
Ready Tech Program and the Computer Repair Tech Program, both the qualitative (grade point average) and
quantitative (completion rate) standards for SAP are applied uniformly to all Students. If a Student does not
meet both the minimum required GPA and attendance requirements at the end of each grading period, then
that Student shall be placed on academic and/or attendance probation.
QUALITATIVE PROCESS
RRCC has defined qualitative academic progress as those Students who have a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or
better on a 4.0 scale. Therefore, if a Student who does not meet the minimum cumulative grade point average
(“CGPA”) of 70% at the end of each grading period, then the Student will be placed on Academic Probation for
the subsequent grading period. Each Student’s academic progress evaluation period is from Monday through
Friday each week.

2015 SCHOOL CATALOG
QUANTITATIVE PROCESS
All Students must show measurable progress toward their program completion and each Student must
complete a minimum of 90% of the required course hours for the HVAC Maintenance Ready Tech Program and
90% of the required course hours for the Computer Repair Technician Program. For the HVAC Maintenance
Ready Tech Program, a Student must complete a minimum of 254.7 hours. For the Computer Repair Tech
Program, a Student must complete a minimum of 93.6 hours. If a Student fails to complete the minimum
required quantitative component of SAP at the end of each grading period, then the Student will be placed
on Attendance Probation for the subsequent grading period. For the HVAC Maintenance Ready Tech Program,
the Student is placed on Attendance Probation once 14 hours are missed, and for the Computer Repair Tech
Program, the Student is placed on Attendance Probation once 4.8 hours are missed.
11.7 PROGRESS REPORTS & TRANSCRIPTS
Student records are recorded by the Instructor and are entered into Retail Ready Career Center’s Learning
Management System by School administrators. The School maintains a complete set of records on each
Student on a permanent basis which includes the Student’s GPA and attendance records. When combined,
these and other Student documents compose the Student’s official transcript.
The School maintains a complete set of records on each Student on a permanent basis. To facilitate Student
employment assistance and preserve his/her rights to privacy, each Student is requested to sign a written
authorization for release of information to employers. This authorization may be withdrawn in writing anytime.
All requests for transcripts must be submitted in writing to the campus registrar. Upon graduation, Retail
Ready Career Center provides a Certificate of Completion to each graduate. A replacement certificate (no
cover) is available for a fee of $15.00. New certificate covers may be purchased for $15.00.
11.8 PROBATIONARY PERIOD
1. Retail Ready Career Center shall place a Student making unsatisfactory progress for their respective
Program at the end of a progress evaluation period on academic probation for the next progress evaluation
period. If the Student on academic probation achieves satisfactory progress for the subsequent progress
evaluation period, but does not achieve the required grades to meet overall satisfactory progress for
their respective Program, the Student may be continued on academic probation for one more progress
evaluation period.
2. If a Student on academic probation fails to achieve satisfactory progress for the first probationary
progress evaluation period, the Student’s enrollment shall be terminated.

3. The enrollment of a Student who fails to achieve overall satisfactory progress for the program at the end
of two successive probationary progress evaluation periods shall be terminated.
a. When a Student is placed on academic probation, Retail Ready Career Center shall counsel the
Student prior to the Student returning to class. The date, action taken, and terms of probation shall
be clearly indicated in the Student’s permanent file.
b. Retail Ready Career Center may allow a Student whose enrollment was terminated for unsatisfactory
progress to re-enroll after a minimum of one progress evaluation period. Such re-enrollment does
not circumvent the approved refund policy.
c. The School shall place a Student who returns after their enrollment was terminated for unsatisfactory
progress on academic probation for the next grading period. The School shall advise the Student
of this action and document the Student’s file accordingly. If the Student doesn’t not demonstrate
satisfactory progress at the end of this probationary period, that Student’s enrollment shall be
terminated.
4. A Student who misses more than five (5%) of class hours will be placed on attendance probation with
conditions stipulated by the School Director. Please note that as stated above, a Student’s enrollment in
the program will be *terminated for a Student who is absent for more than ten (10%) of the class hours
in the HVAC Maintenance Ready Tech Program and five (5%) of the class hours in the Computer Repair
Tech Program.
*RRCC will not terminate the enrollment of a Student for lack of attendance at a point at which a refund would
not be due.

PART 12: ATTENDANCE POLICY
Retail Ready Career Center’s programs and your personal success depend upon your active participation.
RRCC encourages Students to strive for excellence in all areas. Our commitment is to provide Students with
the best HVAC and computer tech training available while preparing him or her for the industry as a welltrained, professional individual. While great emphasis is placed on academic achievement, equal emphasis is
placed on attendance. In preparation for entering the job market, Students are expected to regard their time
spent at Retail Ready Career Center as they would in the work force. To ensure proper career-preparedness, all
programs require Students to attend all scheduled coursework without interruption.
School closures will be at the discretion of Retail Ready Career Center when affected by weather conditions
and/or public transportation scheduling challenges. In the event of a School weather/nature related closure,
make-up class sessions will be communicated to all Students on the next class day.
Students are expected to be in their assigned classroom ready to begin class at starting time. Class instruction
will begin at 8:00 am and will continue until the normal designated stopping times for breaks, lunch, or the
end of class. In the event of absence or tardiness from an assigned class schedule, the Student is required to
report the absence. When reporting an absence, the Student must call their instructor or an administrative
representative and either speak directly with them or leave a detailed voice message. The Student must call
within one hour of scheduled start time. Please note that RRCC does not have “excused absences” and all
absences are counted against the mandated attendance policy.
Unsatisfactory attendance: According to state requirements, a Student shall be terminated who accumulates
the lesser of the following amounts of absences:
• more than 10 consecutive days;
• more than 20% of the total course time hours in a program with course times of more than 200
hours,
• more than 25% of the total course time hours in a program or individual class with course time
of 41 to 200 hours;
• more than 25% of the total course time hours for seminars, individual classes, or programs with
course time of 40 hours or less; or
• any number of days if the Student fails to return as scheduled from an approved leave of absence

However, due to the intense nature of both programs offered at RRCC, the School shall terminate a Student’s
enrollment if that Student misses more than ten percent (10%) of total clock hours in either program. Thus, if a
Student misses more than 28.3 hours in the HVAC Maintenance Ready Tech Program or more than 9.6 hours
in the Computer Repair Technician Program, then that Student’s enrollment shall be immediately terminated.
Students whose enrollment is terminated for violation of the attendance policy may not re-enroll before the
start of the next progress evaluation period and/or until the next program session begins. This provision does
not circumvent the approved refund policy.
Retail Ready Career Center’s HVAC program totals 283 hours.
Unsatisfactory attendance – A Student shall be terminated who exceeds:
• more than three consecutive days
• more than 10% of the total course time hours in a program of 283 hours.
Retail Ready Career Center’s Computer Repair Tech program totals 96 hours.
Unsatisfactory attendance – A Student shall be terminated who exceeds:
• more than 9.6 hours missed
• more than 10% of the total course time hours in a program of 96 hours.
12.1: TARDINESS
Tardiness and absenteeism and the accurate monitoring of both is state mandated at Retail Ready Career
Center and it is taken very seriously. Students are expected to report to class as scheduled, on time and
prepared to start class. Students are also expected to remain at the School for their entire class schedule. Late
arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours are disruptive and must be avoided. When
Students are tardy and/or take an early leave, it is recorded in the attendance log and it negatively affects
the Student’s total attendance percentage. All Students are required to be in class promptly each day at the
regularly scheduled start time of 8:00 am and they are expected to stay in class until the regularly scheduled
dismissal time for each program. If a Student is tardy/late to the start of any class or the Student leaves early
without permission, then the total amount of time that the Student is not present in the class shall be counted
against the Student’s total attendance. Students are required to be in their seat on time after each break and
immediately following lunch. If the Student is tardy, then this will be recorded in the Student’s attendance
record.

Even though the School does not have “excused absences,” RRCC understands that certain circumstances are
out of the control of the Student. Students who have a medical emergency, a death in their immediate family
or other serious event that adversely affects their attendance, then the School may permit the Student to make
up a total of 14.2 hours of missed class time for the HVAC Program and 4.8 hours for the Computer Repair Tech
Program. A Student may upon request make up an absence at the sole discretion of the Student’s instructor.
If an instructor grants a Student the opportunity to make up an absence, then that absence shall not count
adversely towards the Student’s total attendance percentage. All made up hours and coursework must still
comply with the grading policies and Student academic progress requirements.
12.2: ATTENDANCE RECORDS
Each instructor at Retail Ready Career Center enters and stores all attendance records. Instructors take
attendance each morning at 8:00 am and after each break and lunch and the instructor shall report all
Students who are in attendance to the School’s administration. Instructors also record all tardies and/or early
departures throughout the course of the day while School is in session.
Symbols Used in Attendance Records
• Present (P) Student is in attendance on time
• Tardy (T) Student was not in attendance on time.
• Absent (A) Student was not in attendance, there will be an ‘A’ notated. Absences may be
changed based upon the make-up policy in Section 11.2 above.
12.3: LEAVE OF ABSENCE POLICY
Students who wish to leave the School during their enrollment in either Program, after which they intend to
return, may be able to request a leave of absence. For the HVAC Maintenance Ready Tech Program, if a Student
is granted a leave of absence by the School, then the Student may be on leave of absence for a total of sixty
(60) calendar days. For the Computer Repair Technician Program, if a Student is granted a leave of absence by
the School, then the Student may be on leave of absence for a total of sixty (60) calendar days. Please note that
any Student who leaves the campus while enrolled in either Program without returning and fails to complete
the proper forms will receive grades of “F” in all courses.

The granting of a leave of absence guarantees readmission to the Program in which the Student is enrolled.
The starting date of the leave of absence is the date when the Student notifies the Office of Student Services in
writing. All leaves of absence must be approved in writing by the President of the School. The leave of absence
may not begin on the Student’s last day of academic activity if the Student has failed to fill out the proper
paperwork. When a leave of absence is granted, the course grade is normally an “I” (incomplete) in all courses.
Students taking a leave of absence should refer to the School’s Refund policy to determine the financial
implications of the leave of absence should the Student fail to return to the School from his/her leave of
absence. Likewise, before being granted approval for a leave of absence, all Students who are recipients of
private loans are required to be counseled by the Office of Financial Aid to discuss the consequences of their
changed status on their loan program.
Students on a leave of absence who decide not to return to the School should contact the Office of Student
Services on order to apply for a regular withdrawal. The date of separation for the leave of absence will be
used as the date of separation for the withdrawal. Students who do not return after the specified regular
leave of absence period and who do not apply for a regular withdrawal are administratively withdrawn and
the last day of attendance will be considered the date the leave of absence began. Students on a regular or
administrative withdrawal are required to reapply in order to return to the School, and in such instances, there
is no guarantee of readmission.
Students who must leave the School because of medical or psychological conditions that necessitate their
absence may request a medical leave of absence. Documentation of the serious nature of the medical condition
must be provided to the School. Likewise, before a Student may return from a medical leave of absence,
documentation must be submitted to the School indicating that the medical or psychological condition has
been remedied and that the Student is capable of resuming study at the School. Please note that the term for
the medical leave of absence is the same as a regular leave of absence. Students on medical leave of absence
who decide not to return to the School should contact the Office of Student Services to apply for a regular
withdrawal. If a Student does not return after the medical leave of absence, he or she will be administratively
withdrawn from the School. The date of separation for the medical leave of absence will be used as the date of
separation for the administrative withdrawal.
Students who must leave the School on urgent personal grounds that necessitate their absence for a period of
time, such as death or a serious illness in the immediate family, may request an emergency leave of absence.
Documentation of the serious nature of the emergency must be provided. Please note that the term for the
emergency leave of absence is the same as a regular leave of absence. Students on an emergency leave of
absence who decide not to return to the School should contact the Office of Student Services to apply for
a regular withdrawal. If a Student does not return after the emergency leave of absence, he or she will be
administratively withdrawn from the School. The date of separation for the emergency leave of absence will
be used as the date of separation for the administrative withdrawal.

12.4: WITHDRAWAL POLICY & PROCEDURE
Should any circumstance preclude a Student from continuing his or her studies, that Student should preferably
notify the School in person, but in extraordinary circumstances notifications can be submitted by phone or
in writing at the Office of Student Services. Notice of withdrawal prior to program start should be directed to
the Students’ admissions representative. Once a Student begins class, notices of written withdrawal should
be directed to the Program Director. The effective date of withdrawal will be the last date of actual class
attendance by the Student and tuition due will be charged in accordance with the School’s Refund Policy. The
School reserves the right to discontinue the training of any Student who does not maintain the standards of
the School in their grades, conduct or attendance.
Under Texas Education Code Section 132.061(f), a Student who is obligated for the full tuition may request a
grade of “incomplete” if the Student withdraws for an appropriate reason unrelated to the Student’s academic
status. The Student receiving a grade of incomplete may re-enroll in the program during the 12-month period
following the date he/she withdraws without payment of additional tuition.
12.5: REINSTATEMENT PROCEDURE
A Student who has been dropped from the program may apply for reinstatement. A request for reinstatement
must be submitted in written form to the attention of the Program Director. All Students requesting
reinstatement must meet with the Program Director or designee at the campus to determine the status of the
written application for reinstatement. Students will be given a decision on reinstatement at the time of the
on-campus meeting. In the event that a Student is denied reinstatement, the Student may appeal the decision
in writing to the Office of the President. Students who are granted reinstatement back into the program are
evaluated for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) by the Training Director.

PART 13: STUDENT CONDUCT POLICY
This Student Conduct Policy governs Student behavior relating to Student and academic life at Retail Ready
Career Center and all Students are required to conduct themselves in accordance with these policies. The
School has a clear responsibility in the area of Student conduct to protect and promote the pursuit of RRRC’s
academic goals and mission statement. In keeping with the School’s commitment to the intellectual and
personal growth of Students within a learning-centered community, Students are expected to be responsible
members of the community. Students must therefore comply with all federal, state, and local laws, and in
addition, they must abide by all rules and regulations of Retail Ready Career Center at all times.
As members of the Retail Ready Career Center’s community, all Students are responsible for sustaining the
highest ethical standards of this institution and of the broader community in which we function. The School
values integrity, honesty and fairness and strives to integrate these values into its teaching and business
practices. In that spirit, this Student Conduct Policy is an integral part of the School Catalog and Student
Handbook and represents RRCC’s commitment to upholding the ethical, academic and legal standards we use
as the basis for our daily and long-term decisions and actions. Students are each individually accountable for
their actions and, as members of the community, Students are collectively accountable for upholding these
standards of behavior and for compliance with all applicable laws and policies.
Any Student may be subjected to disciplinary action for violating any provision of this code of conduct or for
committing any act or type of conduct which, although not specifically enumerated herein, fails to meet the
standards of acceptable behavior outlined in this policy. This Student Conduct Policy sets forth community
expectations for RRCC’s Students as well as those behaviors, occurring both on or off campus, which constitute
unacceptable conduct for Students of the School. Students are responsible for conducting themselves in
accordance with the Student Conduct Policy at all times even when the Student is not present on campus.
Thus, RRCC reserves the right to review any action taken by civil authorities regarding a Students’ off campus
behavior. The ultimate decision on whether an incident off campus affects the School’s interests and thus falls
within the scope of this policy will fall under the purview of the Office of the President.
RRCC would like to set forth by way of example the following overall general conduct which may result in
disciplinary action up to and including immediate expulsion from the School and termination from the
program:
• Any and all conduct that is deemed to be contrary to the School’s non-discrimination policy
including but not limited to verbal or physical conduct constituting sexual or other prohibited
harassment.
• Any and all conduct that is deemed to be dishonest or fraudulent including but not limited
to cheating, theft, and misappropriation of or unauthorized removal of another Student’s or
RRCC’s property.

attempting to commit any violation of this Student Conduct Policy. A Student who has knowledge of another
committing or attempting to commit a violation of the code of conduct is required to remove him or herself
from the situation and failure to do so when reasonable under the circumstances may be the basis for a
violation of this policy.
In addition to the general principles of behavior outlined above, this Student Conduct Policy presents the
following examples of prohibited behavior. Please note that these examples are not intended to constitute
a complete and exhaustive list of prohibited conduct. These examples are meant to illustrate what conduct
is strictly impermissible or illegal but RRCC reserves the right to change the examples listed below at any
time with or without notice. While discipline for standard violations will follow a progressive disciplinary
procedure, RRCC reserves the right to implement discipline in accordance with the grievousness of the
violation. Violations of these or any other School policies may subject the Student to disciplinary action up to
and including immediate expulsion and termination from the program:

• Bribing another person to obtain an academic exercise, including answers to questions of an
unadministered academic exercise;
• Failing to adhere to standards of Student behavior established by a faculty member in
conjunction with an academic course.
• The instructor has the primary responsibility for control over classroom behavior and
maintenance of academic integrity, and can order the temporary removal or exclusion from
the classroom any Student engaged in disruptive conduct or conduct in violation of the general
rules and regulations of the institution. Extended or permanent exclusion from the classroom
or further disciplinary action, however, can be effected only through appropriate procedures of
the institution.

Every Student will be issued School shirts. RRCC expects that each Student will appropriately wear these
shirts daily with long jeans or cargo pants, a belt at waist level and no shorts of any kind. The shirts will be

Student with the safety requirements for a successful career in their field of choice.
13.8: FIRE SAFETY
Accident prevention is the responsibility of each Student of RRCC. All community members of RRCC are
responsible for reporting any unsafe conditions in the classrooms and labs. It is therefore the responsibility
of each Student to be familiar with the safe working practices and procedures listed in RRCC’s Fire Prevention

in this manual with his/her Students. RRCC Students are responsible for following the established guidelines

PART 14: DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES FOR STUDENTS
The School’s administration reserves the absolute discretion and authority to determine appropriate sanctions
and disciplinary procedures to be imposed upon a Student for any infraction of the Student Conduct Policy.
The sanctions explained below may be cumulative and no sanction need be exhausted before any other
sanction may be imposed. The sanctions may be enhanced based on a past disciplinary record, the severity of
behavior, or the impact upon the community. Sanctions may be tailored to specific situations and all Students
of RRCC are required to report any suspected violations of applicable laws and any provision in this code of
conduct. Allegations of Student misconduct or any conduct that may or may not be a violation of state or
federal law may be made to ANY member of the RRCC administrative staff. This reporting should normally be
made initially through standard academic channels beginning with the Student’s Instructor. If for any reason
it is not appropriate to report suspected violations to the Instructor (e.g., the suspected violation is by the
Instructor), Students may go to a higher level of the School’s administration including and up to the Office of
the President.
This School Catalog and Student Handbook is enforced through the disciplinary procedure set forth herein.
The primary goal of any disciplinary matter is to protect the safety and welfare of the Students and to ensure
that faculty members are morally fit to instruct and supervise the Students. Should a Student’s academic
performance, overall attitude, conduct or demeanor become unsatisfactory based on violations of this code
of conduct, then the Student will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination
from the program. Before or during imposition of any discipline, a Student may be given an opportunity
to relate their version of the incident or problem at issue and provide any explanation or justification they
consider relevant. Where appropriate, a policy of progressive Student discipline will be followed and major
elements of this policy include:
VERBAL REPRIMAND
The first step in the School’s progressive disciplinary policy is the “verbal reprimand.” This is a verbal warning
to a Student that his or her conduct is unacceptable, and that repeated or continued failure to conform his
or her conduct or performance to the School’s code of conduct will result in more severe disciplinary action.
Before receiving a verbal reprimand, a Student will be counseled by his or her Instructor and told what
improvements are necessary and expected to correct any performance deficiencies. A record of the notice of
the verbal reprimand may be made and retained in the Student’s file.

RETAIL READY
Career Center

WRITTEN REPRIMAND
The second step is a “written reprimand.” This reprimand will describe the unacceptable conduct or performance
of the Student and specify needed changes or improvements. A copy of the written reprimand will be retained
in the Student’s file.
DISCIPLINARY OR ACADEMIC PROBATION
Disciplinary or academic probation is a period of review during which the Student must demonstrate the
ability to comply with School’s rules, regulations, and all other stipulated requirements. If, during the period
of the disciplinary probation the Student is again found responsible for violating any School rule or regulation,
then the Student will be immediately suspended from the School.
SUSPENSION FROM THE SCHOOL
Suspension from the School requires a Student to be withdrawn from all classes, suspended from the School’s
campus and prohibited from participating in the School’s activities for the period of the suspension. A Student
who is suspended from Retail Ready Career Center is nonetheless responsible for all financial obligations to
the School. Pursuant to the refund policy and the Student absentee policy, a Student will not be suspended
for more than three (3) days in the Maintenance Ready Tech Program, and one(1) day in the Computer Repair
Tech Program. Every day that a Student is suspended will be counted as an absenteeism. A Student who is
suspended may submit an appeal in writing to the Office of the President and the President will make a final
determination as to the length or repeal of the suspension. After the Student complies with the terms and
conditions of the suspension, then the Student will be reinstated and permitted to attend all classes and
participate in all School activities.
TERMINATION
The final step in the disciplinary procedure is the termination of the Student. If an Student fails to conform his
or her conduct or performance to the standards required by the School, then RRCC may, in its sole discretion,
may terminate the Student’s participation in the program. Termination is defined as a permanent separation
and removal from the School and it requires that a Student be withdrawn from all classes, removed from
School housing, banned from the School’s campus, and rendered ineligible to register for any other School
program. The sanction of termination will only be rendered by the President of RRCC and all decisions of
expulsion will be considered final. Students terminated from Retail Ready Career Center are not eligible to
re-enroll at any time in the future for the same program or any other program that RRCC may offer.

Notwithstanding this progressive disciplinary procedure policy, Retail Ready Career Center reserves the right
to administer discipline in such a manner as it deems appropriate to the circumstances, and may, in its sole
discretion, eliminate any or all of the steps in the discipline process. The President of Retail Ready Career
Center is solely ultimately responsible for enforcing this Code of Conduct as it relates to all Student behavior.
Prior to making any final disciplinary decision, the President may notify the accused Student of his intention
to do so and the reasons therefore and invite the Student to reply to the determination. If permitted by the
President, the Student may reply, either in writing or in a personal conference, or both. After the accused
Student has had an opportunity to reply, the President will make a disciplinary ruling which is non-appealable
and absolutely final. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the President of RRCC can initiate a Student’s temporary
suspension from the program prior to the initiation of any disciplinary action if it is found that there is a strong
risk that the accused Student’s continued presence on campus will cause immediate and serious harm to any
member of the Retail Ready Career Center community.

PART 15: STUDENT SEXUAL HARASSMENT, INTIMIDATION & EXPLOITATION POLICY
Retail Ready Career Center strives to provide a place of work and study free of sexual harassment, intimidation,
exploitation or discrimination whether that discrimination or harassment is because of race, color, national
origin, sex, disability, religion, age, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation or any other
characteristic protected by law. It is expected that Students and other individuals covered by this policy will
treat one another with respect. Where sexual harassment has occurred, RRCC will act to stop the harassment,
prevent its recurrence, and discipline and/or take other appropriate action against those responsible.
15.1: GENERAL SEXUAL HARASSMENT POLICY
This policy applies to all Students of Retail Ready Career Center as well as others who participate in the School’s
programs and activities. Individuals who violate this policy are subject to discipline up to and including
immediate termination from the program. Reports of sexual harassment are taken very seriously and will
be dealt with promptly. The specific action taken in any particular case depends on the nature and gravity of
the conduct reported and may include intervention, mediation, investigation and the initiation of grievance
and disciplinary processes including contacting the police. Furthermore, RRCC recognizes the importance
of confidentiality. Those representatives of RRCC who are responsible for implementing this policy will
respect the confidentiality and privacy of individuals reporting or accused of sexual harassment to the extent
reasonably possible or permitted by law. As a matter of law, retaliation and/or reprisals against an individual
who in good faith reports or provides information about behavior that may violate this policy are against the
law and will not be tolerated. Conversely, intentionally making a false report or providing false information is
grounds for discipline.
15.2: WHAT IS SEXUAL HARASSMENT
Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other visual, verbal or physical conduct of a
sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when:
• It is implicitly or explicitly suggested that submission to or rejection of the conduct will be a
factor in academic or employment decisions or evaluations, or permission to participate in an
activity at RRCC; or
• The conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s academic
or work performance or creating an intimidating or hostile academic, work or Student living
environment.

Determining what constitutes sexual harassment depends on the specific facts and context in which the
conduct occurs. Sexual harassment may take many forms; subtle and indirect or blatant and overt. For example,
sexual harassment may include any of the following behaviors: to wit; conduct toward an individual of the
opposite sex or the same sex; or conduct that occurs between peers or between individuals in a hierarchical
relationship; or conduct aimed at coercing an individual to participate in an unwanted sexual relationship; or
conduct that may have the effect of causing an individual to change behavior or work performance; or conduct
that consists of repeated actions; or may even arise from a single incident if sufficiently egregious.
Other forms of unlawful harassment are also prohibited by this policy. Such harassment may include
harassment based upon a person’s race, national origin, religion, age or disability. Please note that any of
these forms of harassment may be reported pursuant to this policy. Therefore, it is also against RRCC’s policy
to engage in verbal or physical conduct that denigrates or shows hostility or aversion toward an individual
because of his or her race, color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, or other
protected category (or that of the individual’s relatives, friends, or associates) that: (1) has the purpose or
effect of creating an intimidating, hostile, humiliating, or offensive working or studying environment; (2)
has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s School or work performance; or (3)
otherwise adversely affects an individual’s employment opportunities. Depending on the circumstances, the
following conduct may constitute discriminatory harassment: (1) epithets, slurs, negative stereotyping, jokes,
or threatening, intimidating, or hostile acts that relate to race, color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age,
national origin, or disability; and (2) written or graphic material that denigrates or shows hostility toward an
individual or group because of race, color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or disability
and that is circulated on the campus or in Student housing. Other conduct may also constitute discriminatory
harassment if it falls within the definition of discriminatory harassment set forth above.
Any Student found to have engaged in such conduct, or who condones such action will be subject to immediate
and appropriate disciplinary action up to and including suspension or expulsion. A Student may also be subject
to individual liability and penalties as a harasser or someone who commits sexual harassment.
15.3: REPORTING PROCESS
The following are the primary methods for dealing with sexual harassment at Retail Ready Career Center.
There is no requirement to follow these options in any specific order, however, early informal methods are
often effective in correcting questionable behavior.
First, a Student may request a consultation with a senior member of RRCC’s staff or the President of RRCC
and these consultations are available for anyone who wants to discuss issues related to sexual harassment,
whether or not “harassment” actually has occurred or the person seeking information is a complainant, a

RETAIL READY
Career Center

person who believes his/ her own actions may be the subject of criticism (even if unwarranted), or a third party.
Often there is a desire that a consultation be confidential or “off the record” and this can usually be achieved
when individuals discuss concerns about sexual harassment without identifying the other persons involved.
Please note that in certain cases, the level of confidentiality depends on what legal protections are held by the
individual receiving the information and should be addressed with them before specific facts are disclosed.
Second, Students who believe they are the target of sexual harassment may file a complaint against another
Student or employee of RRCC in the Office of the President which will immediately be reviewed and
investigated. The School strives to maintain a lawful and pleasant work and study environment where all
Students are able to effectively perform their academic studies without interference of any type and RRCC
requests the assistance of all Students in this effort. Thus, RRCC encourages any Student to file an harassment
complaint regarding incidents experienced personally or incidents observed in the classroom, Student
housing or anywhere on the campus. If any Student experiences any related harassment or have a related
complaint, the Student should promptly report the matter immediately to their Instructor or directly to Jon
Davis, President of Retail Ready Career Center.
RRCC assures all Students that the School will undertake an immediate investigation ensuring confidentiality
to the greatest possible extent. Sexual harassment complaints should be made as soon as possible because
the earlier the report is made to an instructor or to an employee of RRCC, the easier it is to investigate and
take appropriate remedial action. When sexual harassment reports/complaints are delayed for a long period
of time, RRCC will try to act to the extent it is reasonable to do so, but it may be impossible to achieve a
satisfactory result after too much time has passed.
Third, sexual harassment is prohibited by state and federal law. In addition to the internal resources described
above, individuals may pursue complaints directly with the government agencies that deal with unlawful
harassment and discrimination claims.
15.4: INVESTIGATION
Once a complaint is received, RRCC will begin a prompt and thorough investigation. The investigation may
include interviews with all involved Students and/or employees, including the alleged harasser, and any
employees or Students who are aware of facts or incidents alleged to have occurred. The investigation will be
conducted in a way that respects, to the reasonable extent possible bearing in mind the safety of the campus
community, the privacy of all of persons involved. In appropriate cases, professional investigators may be
asked to assist in the investigation. The results of the investigation may be used in the third party intervention
process or in a grievance or disciplinary action.

69
RETAIL READY
Career Center
2015 SCHOOL CATALOG
Once the investigation is completed, a determination will be made regarding the validity of the harassment
allegations. If it is determined that harassment has occurred, then prompt, remedial action will be taken. This
may include some or all of the following steps:
• Restore any lost terms, conditions or benefits of the complaining Student.
• Discipline the harasser. This discipline can include written disciplinary warnings, suspension,
and expulsion.
15.5: THIRD PARTY INTERVENTION
Depending on the circumstances, third party intervention in the academic setting may be attempted. The
third party may be professional counselors trained in sexual harassment, human resources professionals,
other faculty or staff, or sometimes a mediator unrelated to RRCC. When third party intervention is used,
typically the third party(ies) meets privately with each person involved, tries to clarify their perceptions and
attempts to develop a mutually acceptable understanding that can insure the parties are comfortable with
their future interactions.
15.6: GRIEVANCES & APPEALS
The applicable procedure depends on the circumstances and the status of the person bringing the charge and
the person against whom the charge is brought. Generally, the process consists of the individual’s submission
of a written statement explaining the alleged prohibited conduct, a fact-finding process or investigation by
an RRCC representative, followed by a decision and, in some cases, the possibility of an appeal if permitted
by the President.

PART 16: STUDENT GRIEVANCE POLICY
The two primary objectives of this Student grievance procedure are to ensure that Students have the
opportunity to present grievances to the School regarding a certain action or inaction by a member of the
Retail Ready Career Center community and to guarantee that the School has a consistent way of resolving those
grievances in a fair and just manner. A Student may pursue a grievance if he or she believes that a member of
the RRCC community including faculty and other Students have violated his or her rights. A grievance arises
when a Student believes, based on established administrative policies and procedures, that he or she has
been treated in an arbitrary, inappropriate, discriminatory or capricious manner by another Student or by a
representative of the School. This Student grievance procedure also applies to alleged discrimination on the
basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, or disability as well
as problems arising in the relationship between a Student and the School that are not governed by other
specific grievance procedures.
Prior to bringing a formal grievance against a School representative or another Student, Retail Ready Career
Center encourages Students to resolve grievances directly with the person(s) concerned in an attempt at a
good-faith resolution of the grievance. This attempt may be made with the party directly involved with the
disputed matter or with the head of the department in which the grievance arises. Please note however that
there are cases when the Student may feel it is appropriate to go directly to the formal grievance resolution
process. Retail Ready Career Center faculty members and staff are available to assist Students with such
concerns/grievances. If a Student decides not to present his or her grievance to the person alleged to have
caused the grievance or if the Student is not satisfied with the response, he or she may present the grievance
in writing to the Office of Student Services. The formal grievance process, outlined below, should also be
initiated within thirty (30) days of the failed informal resolution if applicable.
STEP 1
A formal grievance is presented in writing to the Office of Student Services. This written grievance must
include the following:
• Name, address and phone number of the person making the grievance;
• Identification of the individual against whom the grievance is brought;
• A description of the specific School action or individual behavior resulting in this grievance;
• The date or period of time in which the behavior occurred and the location of the incident; and
• A listing of all individuals who witnessed any part of the incident in dispute.

Career Center

STEP 2
Upon receipt of the formal grievance, a designee is appointed by the Office of Student Services to investigate
the dispute. If the grievance involves a School employee acting within their role or duty or another Student,
the investigator will conduct a formal investigation and all relevant facts will be gathered (i.e. witness
testimony, etc). Once the investigation is complete, the investigator will determine the degree of involvement
of pertinent individuals in the investigation and the investigator’s findings will then be presented to the
Office of the President for review. If the grievance violates the terms and conditions of this School Catalog
and Student Handbook, then the President of Retail Ready Career Center will make a final determination and
submit his decision in writing to the Student and to the person alleged to have caused the grievance. The
written determination shall include the reasons for the decision and shall indicate the remedial action to be
taken which may include suspension or expulsion from the program.
Students who believe they have been discriminated against, sexually harassed, or retaliated against in violation
of the Retail Ready Career Center’s non-discrimination policy, they may make their claim in strictest confidence
directly to Office of the President of Retail Ready Career Center. Reports of discrimination, sexual harassment,
or retaliation should be made in writing and should be done as soon as possible. RRCC is committed to
investigating and immediately re-mediating such claims and all individuals bound by this policy are expected
to fully participate and cooperate in the investigation of any such claim. Failure by any Student to participate
and/or cooperate in an investigation when requested is grounds for immediate discipline. Likewise, making a
false report or providing false information may be grounds for discipline in the absence of a good faith belief
that the report.
If after exhausting these efforts the Student remains dissatisfied with the outcome, they may direct unresolved
grievances to:

PART 17: STUDENT & CAREER SERVICES ASSISTANCE
Retail Ready Career Center maintains an efficient Career Services Department to assist the graduate in
obtaining employment. As with any School, college or university, Retail Ready Career Center cannot promise
or guarantee employment. Upon graduation, each Student is eligible to participate and utilize the assistance
of the Career Services Department. The Career Services Department is dedicated to support Students and
Graduates find suitable employment in a number of ways:
• Development of a placement package for each Student including a recorded interview, Student’s
academic track record and resume.
• Arrange in person and/or interviews conducted over the Internet with HVAC contractors and
computer industry.
• Provide Students with successful interviewing skills and techniques.
Every reasonable effort is made to assist Students requesting full-time employment in obtaining the types
of career positions for which they are qualified and in geographical areas that they prefer. However, it is
sometimes necessary for Students to relocate to obtain the most desirable jobs.
Students must authorize Retail Ready Career Center to make available their records of grades, attendance
and instructor evaluations for employment purposes. Upon procuring employment, Students must inform
the Student Services Department of the company name, address and contact information, supervisor’s name,
starting salary, date of employment and position held. Also, Students must sign Authorization for Employment
Verification prior to graduation. Career services will be provided to all Students upon successful completion
of their program.
Retail Ready Career Center offers continued Career Services to graduates who exhibit a positive attitude while
employed and who refrain from such negative habits as illegal substance abuse, stealing, excessive absence
and/or tardiness and unethical or improper conduct.
Retail Ready Career Center offers Career Placement Services to all graduates who successfully fulfill the
requirements for graduation. However, such services may be discontinued for graduates who fail to comply
with the above stipulations or exhibit inappropriate behavior in the conduct of the employment search or on
the job.
A prospective employer’s hiring decision ultimately depends on how a graduate presents himself/herself on
his/her resumes and interview. (Retail Ready Career Center will expend every effort reasonable to prepare
each Student.)

17.1: STUDENT HOUSING ASSISTANCE
Retail Ready Career Center’s application based learning is built on a sense of community which occurs when
Students live and study together. The School is committed to establishing this continuity between intellectual
and residential life, and therefore, RRCC requires all of its Students to live in Student provided housing during
the entire length of their program until they graduate.
The Student Housing Assistance Program guarantees that each Student will receive travel accommodations
to and from the School, appropriate housing accommodations during their stay, and a daily meal plan for the
entire length of the Student’s program. Upon arrival, RRCC will provide each Student with his/her own private
room at a 2 or 3 star rated extended stay hotel. The Student’s hotel accommodations will include a continental
breakfast, fitness room, free Wi-Fi Internet service, coin laundry service, business center, and cable television.
RRCC will not be responsible for incidental hotel purchases including without limitation charges for mini-bar,
laundry/dry cleaning services, telephone calls, pay-per-view, valet parking, smoking in the room, vandalism
or any violation of the hotel’s guest policies. Student’s may be required to put down a deposit with the hotel
to ensure the Student complies with the hotel’s guest policies which shall be refundable when the Student
graduates or checks out provided there is no damage to or loss of furniture and furnishings and the room is
clean and in good condition.
Student’s residing in School provided housing must comply with the hotel’s guest policies. A Student who
fails to comply with the hotel’s guest policies may be evicted and the School will not provide nor pay for
alternate housing for the Student. School provided housing is prepaid in advance of the Student’s arrival to
campus and the School cannot and will not refund the money paid for Student housing in violation of the
refund policies contained herein.
To be eligible to live in RRCC provided housing, the Student must be enrolled and the Student must be in
good academic and financial standing. If a Student terminates their enrollment or if the Student is suspended
or expelled from their program at any time, then the Student must vacate the School provided housing
immediately. If a Student refuses to vacate a room when he/she is no longer authorized to remain in RRCC
provided housing, the Student will be responsible for any associated costs incurred by the Student.
Students who live locally are required to live and stay in Student provided housing Monday through Friday
during the entire length of their program until they graduate. Local Students must reside in Student provided
housing and they may NOT reside nor sleep at home during the School week. No exceptions. Students who
live locally may go home for the weekends, however, they must be on the School provided busing Monday
morning. All Students, regardless of whether they live locally or not, must ride the School provided bus to and
from School each day class is in session.

food cash allowance.
If possible, RRCC will make special dietary accommodations due to medical or religious reasons. Please
contact RRCC to request special dietary accommodations.
17.3: AIRFARE
Once the Student’s enrollment has been completed and tuition and fees have been paid, RRCC will purchase
the Student’s airline ticket in advance of your departure with a major airline that offers competitive pricing and
flight times. RRCC does not guarantee a direct flight to the DFW area nor a specific time frame for departures
or arrivals. Additional bags over the two (2) bag limit is the sole financial responsibility of the Student as
well as oversized bags in excess of fifty pounds (50 lbs.) each. The Student assumes full responsibility for all
additional baggage fees and miscellaneous charges including costs for travel to and from the airport. If a
Student is delayed or held over due to inclement weather, then upon request RRCC will arrange for alternate
travel arrangements and/or hotels at no cost to the Student. The Student’s airfare will include:

School is in session Monday through Friday. Students may not commute to the School even if they live locally
and they must ride School provided busing during the School week.
Likewise, RRCC will provide transportation to and from any group activities that the School schedules, but the
