GAME CHANGERS
are those who, through their leadership and commitment, transform a situation. They look at a
crisis and see not only danger, but opportunity. They aren’t just dreamers, they are doers.
When it comes to justice, every one of you is a game changer.
Through your support of the Legal Aid Foundation, you are investing in solutions—game changing
solutions—for low income Coloradans.
Rather than providing temporary beds, your contributions saved homes by preventing wrongful
evictions and foreclosures.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Legal Aid Foundation of Colorado
promotes equal access to justice by raising
funds to provide civil legal services for lowincome people in the state of Colorado.
Rather than stocking a food bank, your generosity provided long term economic security and
stability for families bankrupted by medical bills or cheated by unscrupulous opportunists.
Rather than staffing an emergency shelter, your commitment freed people from a continuing
lifetime of abuse.
For the hundreds of Coloradans who are facing a life crisis of some sort every day, the most
powerful and effective response often includes legal assistance—and, by supporting the Legal
Aid Foundation, you make that happen.
In this time of great need and scarce resources, you stepped up in record numbers and at record
levels to invest in helping low income Coloradans solve their legal problems.

COLORADO LEGAL SERVICES
Your contributions to the Legal Aid Foundation support Colorado Legal
Services, which is the only agency in the state that provides free civil
legal services to indigent clients in every Colorado county.
In 2012, Colorado Legal Services
directly served 10,898 low-income
clients but stretched its limited
resources with technology, pro
se materials, self help programs,
clinics, and pro bono programs
to serve many more.
Priority is given to addressing legal issues that threaten the basic
necessities of a decent life, including at least minimally adequate income,
food, shelter, utilities and medical care, freedom from domestic violence
and abuse, and the protection of individual rights of the elderly and those
who are physically and mentally disabled.
With few exceptions, those served live at or below 125% of the federal
poverty guidelines. The most recent Census Bureau survey found that
there are now more than 880,000 Coloradans who are income-eligible
for legal aid services.
