Tallahassee Downtown
Always in Session
BY Jay Revell
Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority
EVERYBODY KNOWS TALLAHASSEE is
Florida’s Capital City, and Downtown
Tallahassee is the political epicenter
— drawing in visitors from around the
state and nation each year to visit the
Capitol. The influx peaks when the legislative session opens, and people with a
purpose pour in to mind the state’s business. The heart of the Capital City is
Downtown Tallahassee — and whether
the Legislature is in town or not, Downtown is Always in Session.
RESTAURANTS and NIGHTLIFE
It is home to some of the city’s most
iconic restaurants and watering holes.
Storied establishments like Andrew’s
Capital Grill & Bar and Clyde’s &
Costello’s can be found on the Adams
Street Commons. Their location, only
a stone’s throw from the Capitol, has
made them favorites of legislators, governors and many other legendary Florida characters. Also on the Commons
is the Governor’s Club. If you’re lucky
enough, you’ll score an invite to this exclusive venue.
A short stroll down the hill offers a mix
of favorite local venues. Kleman Plaza is
home to great food and nightlife yearround. Restaurants like Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grill and 101 Restaurant are
happy hour favorites for those who like to
spend their evenings Downtown.
College Avenue hosts one of the most
scenic views in the city for catching the
sunset behind Florida State University’s
The iconic view
down College Avenue
of FSU’s Westcott
Building is especially
beautiful at sunset.

Among all of the great lunch spots,
Metro Deli is hard to beat. Go in, say hi to

Another favorite spot is Andrew’s 228,
