AROUND THE DIAMOND IN THE ABL
WEEK 14
8/25/10
BIG STORY: The parity and competition has been outstanding in 2010 and will setup a thrilling final
four games of the season. A great example is the three team tie for the third and final playoff spot in the
American Division between Atlanta, Manahawkin, and Syracuse. As for the rest of the division, it’s all
set. The Long Beach Island Starfish captured their third division title in history during their bye week as
the B-Bay Corsairs locked up 2nd place and will enter the playoffs for the 2nd time in franchise history. As
for the National Division, big time movement as the Titusville Perfectos claimed a playoff spot. Plus Las
Vegas and Tallahassee pulled off big time sweeps to put them in a good playoff position heading into the
final countdown. Enjoy the excitement of ABL baseball as the playoff drive comes down to the final two
play weeks. ABL baseball at its best during the stretch drive!

ROLLING DICE?? (Q and A with Game Play Notes) (PLEASE TAKE NOTE)
1. Infield In and result is a DP-Grounder, the chart states you must go to the infield range chart and roll
one die to determine where the play is going. Do you also reduce the infield range rating by two grades
per the infield range chart?
ANSWER: Yes. Follow all the adjustments that apply on the Infield Range Chart.
2. Error Chart Play: Catcher hovers under foul pop, but drops it. Runners hold. E (0). Is this an
error to the catcher?
ANSWER: Yes. The error is charged to the catcher since the at bat was allowed to continue
due to the drop ball. Runners or batter do not advance hence the (0).
3. DP-P on the error chart. Do you apply the DP-Grounder rule sending the play to the Infield Range
Chart since pitchers and catchers are always assumed to be playing in?
ANSWER: No. The DP-Grounder Rule is ignored on the Error Chart. Remember pitchers and catchers
are always assumed to be playing in but their ranges are not adjusted on the infield range chart, hence
they are not penalized for “playing in” on the error chart either.
TRIPLE PLAY BASEBALL CHART CHANGE:
All ABL Managers please take note!!!!
Please add the note in bold below to the Infield Range Chart Key
INFIELD RANGE KEY:
Toss: No runner on 1st, H&R, or Infielder In use Close Call results. Otherwise…
Force at 2nd and roll one die for results of throw to first… (0 = 10)
If you have any questions, please contact the Commish. Ensure you update your charts ASAP.
PREVIEWS IN AROUND THE DIAMOND:
For the most part the Previews are back in Around the Diamond! We did receive on preview from Coop
(thanks) that helped out this week. Going forward I’ll try to do as many that make sense for a giving
week. Thanks for all the positive feedback about the previews. I know now most managers are actually
reading Around the Diamond!
RECAPS: ABL managers please put the final score of each game in the recap. Please put the final score
in “bold” to make it easier for managers to locate the outcome. Remember incentive points may be lost
if the recaps do not meet the guidelines of the ABL Rulebook. Thanks for your support.
SCORE SHEETS: ABL managers please put the date on all score sheets when the game was played
when you submit them to the league office. The date is important to track records for our yearly
yearbook. If no date is present, incentive points will be lost. Also please ensure the sheets are filled
out completely and accurately. Ensure to list all positions and fill in all the correct stats. Thanks for
your support.
ABL 50/50 RAFFLE:
Antman suggested it at the ABL Winter Meetings and we are going forward with the idea. The Commish
will be selling ABL 50/50 Raffle tickets all season long to help support the ABL. Half of the money
collected to the winner and the other half dumped back into the ABL to help keep costs down. The
drawing will be held at the Winter Meetings in November and is open to anyone. Tickets are $1.00 for 1,
$2.00 for 3, $5.00 for 10, and $10.00 for 20. Just purchase them from the Commish, write you name on
the back and possibly win some cash in November.
ABL 2010-2011 OFF-SEASON VOTING:
Send in your proposals for rule changes to be voted on in the off-season. Should the ABL use the Home
Run rule delivered with the Triple Play Baseball Game? Have your voice be heard.
ABL 2011 FEE:
The 2011 ABL fee will stay the same as 2010 at $60. If you finish with 15 IP’s, you can get it lowered
down to $50. Win the title and it’s on the ABL’s nickel.
Each manager must pay the $60 operational fee for the American Baseball League Season by November
15th for the next season. If it isn’t paid in full by November 25th, the ABL will fold your team for that
upcoming season unless other arrangements have been made with the league. The fees help with
expenses to run the league. This is a firm deadline; please communicate with the Commish if you can’t
meet the deadline.
Remember the 2011 fee is due November 15th. Please pay the fee on time if you want to play ball in
2011. If money is a problem, let the Commish know and something can be worked out. You have plenty
of notice to make sure the fee is paid on time. If an Expansion Team Fee is paid by November 15th, the
new manager will be able to vote in the November Off-Season voting session. The first expansion team
to pay their fee in full will get the highest pick in the expansion draft. The second team to pay their fee in
full will get the 2nd pick in the expansion draft and so on. There is no extra cost for Expansion teams in
2011.
ABL 2011 EXPANSION TEAM APPLICATIONS:
All possible new 2011 ABL managers must fill out an ABL Expansion Team Application. The
Application will be reviewed and acceptance won’t be final until the expansion fee has been paid in full.
Remember all new perspective managers must complete all steps of the new ABL Development Plan for
new perspective managers. Tell a friend or co-worker about the fun of managing in the ABL.
ABL NIGHT AT THE B-METS:
The ABL Night at the B-Mets was again a huge success with the excellent turnout. As usual it looked
like everyone had a nice time watching some exciting baseball and chatting about the ABL. I would like
to thank Lenny for donating four tickets towards the event. Too bad Skibby had to leave a little early as
crap piled up at the King while the Dawg just couldn’t last one more inning for the thrilling B-Mets walk
off win in the 10th inning. Thanks again to everyone who attended enjoying a fun night of baseball with
friends.
BASEBALL THOUGHTS:
Commish’s Batavia July 2010 Trip:
Duran shipped off to U.S. Army Basic Training earlier in the week as Tia, Alexei, and I headed into the
Finger Lakes region for some shopping and of course more Baseball. We started out on Friday July 16th
in the morning headed for the Waterloo Outlets located about an hour east of Rochester. We took the
majestic route as we cruised along Cayuga Lake on the beautiful sunny day. We arrived at the outlets
around the lunchtime and immediately started looking for the food court. We grabbed some food and
then started the great excitement of outlet shopping. Usually I enjoy the scenery if you know what I mean
but actually there was a find interesting shops too. I picked up a neat ballpark book for $5.00 and also
grabbed a neat Vancouver Canucks mug for the Dawg. The girls continued to shop as I attempted to
enjoy the view and then we received a call from Duran that he made it Basic Training and the fun really
began for him. The girls wrapped up their shopping and he headed to our hotel just south of Rochester to
relax for a bit until ballgame time.
We headed out to grab a bite to eat that didn’t go very well since we didn’t plan our timing well. An
interesting dinner at a very odd place called the Lehigh Restaurant where a mini-blow up ensured before
eating some finger foods. After cooler heads prevailed, we headed west to Batavia and Dwyer Stadium.
Batavia was only about a thirty minute drive from where we staying on the New York State Thruway.
We headed off the exit and followed the directions that took us through a nice neighborhood in Batavia.
We came around a corner and there was the ballpark nestled in a neighborhood much like the park in
Auburn, N.Y. The ballpark had a city park located behind the outfield walls as we grabbed some free
parking just up the street from Dwyer Stadium. We snapped some pictures out front and Tia had to grab
some 50/50 tickets sold by the Rochester/Batavia Booster Club. We entered the stadium and the elderly
ticket lady took our tickets I had printed online. I said, “I’ve never been here, How will I know where my
seats are?” She said, “Write down on your scorecard and the usher will show you to your seats.” I have
to admit that was a first in all my minor league baseball travels. I got the sense that not many people
purchased tickets online for Muckdogs Baseball. We went to the usher and explained how she kept the
tickets and he gave us an odd look and showed us our seats. It turned out they were right behind the
visiting dugout and Tia couldn’t even see over the dugout to see home plate. The sun was also burning
down on that spot with high humidity and quickly we made the call to sit under the Grandstand in the
General Admission area.
View of Grandstand behind home plate
There was a decent crown on hand for this Friday night contest against the Lowell Spinner (Red Sox) on
fireworks night. I purchased a black Muckdogs cap as the Muckdogs sported their third black jerseys on
the diamond. A nice feature was the low speaker volume up in the grandstand. I could actually hear Tia
and Alexei both talking to me as a foul ball went over the roof right behind us. I pointed to a guy walking
with a little toddler that the ball was there and he finally noticed. The little guy was ecstatic to get a
baseball at the game. The Muckdogs are affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals and won the NY-Penn
league title during the 2008 season. The visiting Spinners scored first on a long two run homer of the bat
of the1st basemen Head in the top of the first inning. Muckdogs cut in half in the bottom of the inning as
the leadoff hitter O’Neil tripled followed by a Longmire RBI groundout to make it a 2-1 game. Nicolas
Longmire was a 2010 5th round selection of the St. Louis Cardinals leading team with five dingers. Plenty
of scoring in the 3rd inning as the Spinner plated two and the dogs came right back with three of their own
to tie the game at four a piece. Famous Lottery girl Yolanda Vega was at the game doing promotions
between innings for the nearby Batavia Downs Racetrack and Casino. The ballpark just had a very
enjoyable small town feel to it like the one in Auburn, N.Y. as the fans were into the game much more
than locally here in Binghamton.
View from Grandstand with the Muckdogs in the Field
Top of the 4th inning and the Muckdogs pitcher is nailed by a line drive and has to leave the game. The
Red Sox number one overall pick in the draft Vitek was holding the fort on 3rd base for the Spinners al
evening. Both team’s bullpen pitchers settled in and kept the game tied at four runs apiece through the
summer night. God Bless America was sung during the 7th inning stretch like at Yankee Stadium. It was
the bottom of the 9th two outs and the crowd getting louder and louder cheering for their home town
Muckdogs. Leadoff hitter O’Neil draws a walk 2nd basemen Colin Walsh rips a double in the gap and the
manager waves home O’Neil. The throw comes in and O’Neil slides just under the tag and he’s safe!
Safe! Muckdogs win in walk off style 5-4 in an exciting game. We decided to not stay for the fireworks
as we head to get up early the next morning and head to the Windmill.
We got up next morning and grabbed some breakfast at McDonalds and headed for the Windmill Flea
Market shopping experience. It was hot and quite the experience just north of Watkins Glen, N.Y. We
did grab some delicious Chicken BBQ as we ran into my Dad and Denise also. After some shopping we
packed it in and headed home after a nice weekend of shopping for the girls and a fun night of baseball
for the Commish.
FUTURE ABL MANAGERS:
Reminder to all managers that if you find someone interested in baseball lets get them started in the ABL
Developmental Plan playing practice games. Contact the Commish for a sample set of cards/charts and
start teaching the ABL’s next Billy Martin the excitement of tabletop baseball.
ABL Developmental Plan Guidelines:
At a minimum new perspective managers must complete the following:
1. Two practice games with a current ABL Manager with score sheets.
2. Submit one recap within a reasonable time frame to be included in Around the Diamond.
3. One practice game with a current ABL Manager on the dice roller.
4. Continue to play one practice game a month with current ABL Mangers until the end of
September.
5. Finally the new perspective manager should request an ABL Expansion Application.
To ensure deadlines can be met in a timely manner by the new perspective manager, once the new
manager enters the development plan, he or she is expected to complete at a minimum one game a month
until the end of September. The Commish will then decide if the new perspective manager is ready for
the ABL or still needs more time learning with the developmental plan.

RECAPS OF ABL BASEBALL:
Chesapeake Bay at Tallahassee
GM # 1
Big playoff implication in this series. C-Bay with a sweep makes things even tighter in the National
Division. A sweep by Tallahassee and they inch one step closer to securing a spot in the 2010 ABL
Playoffs.
Both teams send their big guns on the hill in game 1. Gallardo vs Sabathia.
Channel Cats strike first scoring 3 big runs off of one from Tulo a 3-run blast 3-0. In the bottom of the 3rd
Terriers play small ball sending 9 men to the plate scoring 4 runs with RBI from A-Rod, Dunn, Cano and
Tejada. Both pitcher and the pen would settle down throwing up zero after zero's on the board. To the 9th
a one run led Tallahassee brings in their closer Boxton to try and close the deal. A leadoff double by
V.Martinez who would score on the very next pitch as Braun would get the gcf single. Broxton would get
the next 3 batters. Nothing going on for either team a hit here and there but no one crossing the plate.
Bottom of the 11th Tejada would leadoff with a single. Doumit the man who owned the Cats last year and
earlier in the year with a grand slam in the 9th to give the Terriers the win was ready to do it again. But
Tallahassee manager decided to stick with Olivo. Olivo would not disappoint as he sent a Franklin
fastball deep into the night for a walk off 2-run shot. Gardner did come close to pull it back into the park
rolled a 19 needed a 20. Final 6-4 in 11 innings

Cats get on the board again first in the 2nd Braun would single and score later on a error by A-Rod.
Rodriguez had the Terrier bats all confused through 5 innings allowing only 2 hits. In the 6th Martinez
would double and score on a gcf single by Braun 2-0. Bottom of the 6th Andrus would single and steal
2nd base. 1 out later Gwynn would single him in 2-1. With 2 outs Cats decide to pitch to Shoppach who
makes them pay with a 2-run bomb to give the Terriers the lead 3-2. In the 7th Andrus singles steal 2nd
and trots to 3rd and a wild pitch by Wilson. PH Callaspo bring him in with a RBI single 4-2. To the 8th
Braun walks steal 2nd and scores on a gcf single by Kubel 4-3. The next 2 batters reach to load the bases.
Perez gets out of the jam though striking out Gardner and Napoli to end the inning. To the 9th Broxton is
called upon again to try and nail down the save. A one Double for Uggla. Martinez would fly out Braun
would walk 1st and 2nd 2 outs Kubel steps to the plate and goes down swinging. Final 4-3

Chicago at Titusville
The Titusville Perfectos rode a strong bullpen performance and the bat of Aramis Ramirez to a 4-2
victory against the Chicago Gangstas in the first game of Play Week 14 at Ashburn Alley in Titusville.
Perfectos starter Matt Garza turned in a fine, if short, performance, allowing only four singles over four
innings. The Gangsters took advantage of two of those singles and Titusville's propensity for issuing
walks in the third to score a pair on a two-RBI single from Fukudome. That would be it for Chicago,
though, as the Perfectos pen went on to combine for five no-hit innings. For Chicago, Bannister was
yielding more hits, but only two runs through six, with the game tied 2-2. But with one on in the seventh,
Aramis Ramirez belted a homer to seal the win.

In the nightcap the Gangstas took advantage of some poor Titusville defense to split the series with a 7-5
victory. (Ant's BFH might have had something to do with it too!) It was a battle of home runs early.
Michael Young's two-run shot gave the Gangstas the early lead, but two solo homers by Ryan Raburn and
a deuce off the bat of Lind gave TV a 5-2 lead. Mark Derosa played the goat in the top of the eighth,
when he made two errors that led to three unearned runs, the difference-maker in the game. His two-base
error came on a double-zero roll, the second double-zero roll of the game. (Maybe that BFH wasn't such a
great idea.) Michael Young added his second home run of the game in the top of the ninth to provide
some insurance, and Cliff Lee held on in the bottom of the ninth against the heart of the Titusville lineup
to get the complete-game win.

CABRERA POWERS HAZARD PAST CARPENTER, PELICANS
MVP candidate and Syracuse Hazard first baseman Miguel Cabrera went 3-4 with 2 HRs and drove in all
4 of the Hazard's runs against #1 overall draft pick
for the Pelicans, Cris Carpenter. Cabrera put the Hazard up 2-1 in the 4th with his first two run bomb,
then after reliever Luke Gregerson gave the lead back to the Pelicans on three straight hits with 2 outs in
the top of the 8th, Cabrera would blast another 2-run shot in the bottom half to put the Hazard up 4-3.
Mariano Rivera would come in to get the save. Carpenter was sharp allowing 10 hits, but walking
nobody while striking out 7, making only the two mistakes to Cabrera, his counterpart, Nick Blackburn
went 6 innings surrendering 7 hits, one walk, and leaving with the game tied at 2. Reliever Shawn Camp
pitched 2/3 of an inning leaving with runners on first and third and handing the ball to Luke Gregerson.
Gregerson got 3 straight outs before giving up back to back singles to the bottom of the Pelicans order,
and then finally breaking and allowing an rbi double to Jamey Carroll that gave the Pelicans a slim lead.
The lead wouldn't last long as the Hazard MVP candidate struck quickly with Dexter Fowler aboard to
put the Hazard ahead 4-3. Rivera then came in and converted his 5th save of the season and the Hazard
hold on to that one run lead to win 4-3.
Notes:
Manahawkin 1st baseman, Joey Votto, was ejected in the bottom of the 6th after arguing a call by the first
base umpire on a fielder's choice.
Cabrera's HRs were numbers 10 and 11 on the year, while raising his rbi total to 27.
Manahawkin CF Rajai Davis stole 1 base to bring his league leading total to 13.

SANTANA KEEPS PELICANS BATS WHILE HAZARD OFFENSE EXPLODES.
Johan Santana got his second win in two starts since joining the Syracuse Hazard, going the distance and
allowing 4 runs on 8 hits while striking out 13 batters. The Hazard offense was able to plate 10 runs off
of Joel Pineiro highlighted by home runs from Casey Blake and Prince Fielder. The Hazard put 4 runs on
the board in the bottom of the first inning, culminating in a 3 run Casey Blake blast. The Pelicans would
close it to 4-3 in the top of the third as their first three batters would reach base, and runners would score
via a Joey Votto double and a 2-run single from Willy Aybar. The Hazard then pulled away scoring one
run in the 3rd inning (a Will Venable double), 3 in the 5th, 2 of which came on Prince Fielder's 8th home
run of the year and added one run in both the 7th and 8th innings. The Pelicans would scratch a run
across in the top of the 9th but that would be all they could muster, 10 runs worth of support was enough
for Johan on this evening as the Hazard win 10-4.
Notes:
Hazard MVP candidate Miguel Cabrera was not kept quiet in the second game of the double header going
4-5 in the nightcap with 2 RBIs and 4 Runs scored, giving him a 7-9 series with 2 HR, 6 RBI and 6 Runs
scored.

Barnegat Bay at Atlanta
Game # 1
Barnaget Bay would start the scoring in the top of the 2nd sending 8 men to the plate and scoring 3 runs
on back to back to back singles by Martin, Figgins, and Pedroia. Atlanta would answer right back with a
run of there own in the bottom of the 2nd on an rbi fielders choice by span. Barnaget would send 7 men to
the plate in the top of the 3rd scoring 3 more runs on a double by Ordonez and a 2 rbi single by Martin.

Orlando at Las Vegas
Game #1- Danny Haren on the bump for the Vipers and Jair Jurjens for the Sharks on this hot desert day.
Bottom of the 1st and Pujols doubles in 2 to give LV an early lead. Orlando gets one back in the third
playing...you guessed it...buck ball! Crawford walks, steals 2nd, and scores on a Hudson gcf. 2-1 LV.
Pagan gets on in the bottom of the inning on an error and later scores on a Pujols single...3-1LV...Bottom
of the 5th and Justin Upton hits a pinch hit 2-run HR to make it 5-1. It was so nice it made the Vipers
manager sick as we had to continue the following day. Texeira blasts a solo HR in the 6th, but the Vipers
answer right back with an rbi from Pagan, and two from Lopez. 8-2 LV. Werth cranks a HR in the 9th for
Orlando but the game ends in favor of the Vipers 8-3.

Game #2- Josh Johnson this time for the Vipers and Clayton Kershaw for the Sharks(on a hot night). Top
of the 2nd and Orlando starts off the scoring on a J. Upton error. Pagan gets a sac fly in the bottom of the
inning to tie it at 1. The Sharks take a 3-1 lead in the 3rd, with Bartlett and Hanigan picking up the steaks.
The Vipers explode in the bottom of the 4th as Iannetta blasts a 3-run HR, Lopez hits a 2-run single and
Upton doubles in a run to make it 7-3LV. Top of the 5th and Big Tex leads off with a bomb to center,
Werth follows it up with a bomb of his own to cut the lead to 7-5. A battle of the pens for the rest of the
game. Top of the 6th and Matsui gets a pinch hit walk, Ryan comes in to run. Meyer goes for the pickoff
but throws it into RF, and Ryan goes all the way to 3rd. Meyer still cant hit a glove as he throws his next
pitch to the backstop as Ryan jogs home to make it a 1 run game...7-6. Bottom of the 7th and Rolen hits
one into the triangle and legs out a lead off triple, McCann singles him in on the next pitch to make it 8-6.
Pujols hits a solo HR in the next inning to give Nathan some breathing room. Big Tex does it again as he
blasts another HR in the 9th. Dye pinch hits as the tying run but grounds out to SS to end the game. Final
9-7 LV.

SERIES 1 MANAHAWKIN(14-18) AT ORLANDO(15-17)
HEAD TO HEAD: Tied 1-1
NOTES: The Pelicans travel to face the Sharks in a series both teams need to win if they plan to join the
playoff party in 2010. The Pels are coming off a let down after having a dominate Summer Slam.
Manahawkin will need Scott Baker and Joe Blanton to step up against the Sharks top two. Verlander and
Kuroda must do their thing if the Sharks are going to catch Tallahassee or Las Vegas for the final playoff
spot. The Sharks will also need some help from Atlanta and Long Beach Island too. Everyone is going
to need help from someone if you are on the outside looking in for the post season. Ironically the
Pelicans and Sharks have both scored 142 runs so far in 2010 but the Pels have pitched better with only
141 runs against to 158. Pitching will be key but it seems the team that hits the most in this series will
have a chance to live another day in their post season dream.
SERIES 2 ATLANTA(14-18) AT LAS VEGAS(18-14)
HEAD TO HEAD: Las Vegas leads 18-8
NOTES: The Inmates travel to Fenway Park to face the Vipers in another series that has huge playoff
implications. Good news for the Inmates is they are better on the road at 8-6 compared to 6-12 at home.
More good news is the Vipers will send their 3rd and 4th pitcher to the bump in Shields and Wolf instead
of the top two. Now the bad news, Atlanta will also send their 3rd and 4th pitchers in Oswalt and
Hochevar and the Vipers have won 69 percent of the time in the past. Pujols once again went yard
against the Sharks last play week and will have to be a concern for Inmates manager Kevin Kunkle. The
Vipers have hit the ball well down the stretch and that could be their biggest advantage over the offensive
challenged Inmates. How challenged? How about an ABL low 124 runs scored so far through 32 games.
Even the last place Chi-town Gangstas have scored more runs than Atlanta this season. The bats better
wake up soon if the Inmates want to make the post season party most expected back around the All-Star
Break.
SERIES 3 BARNEGAT BAY(19-15) AT CHICAGO(7-25)
HEAD TO HEAD: Tied 3-3
NOTES: The Corsairs travel to face the Chi-town Gangstas in a cross divisional match up getting ready
for their 2nd post season appearance in history. Barnegat Bay can’t catch the first place Starfish but also
have locked in at 2nd place against the remaining three teams trying to join the party. The Corsairs can
still play for home field in the finals against a non-division winner from the National Division. More
importantly they’ll get ready for their first ever post season series since their last time in the playoffs only
involved a one game playoff. Their opponent? You guessed it. The Chicago Gangstas back in 2008.
Antman’s club is playing out the string with the 2011 number one pick locked in for next winter’s free
agent draft. Bad news this past week as potential number one pick Stephen Strasburg won’t have enough
innings to pitch in the ABL unless he returns later 2010. Good news is the Gangstas have tons of other
picks in next year’s draft as they will look to return to their winning ways in 2011.
SERIES 4 SYRACUSE(14-18) AT TITUSVILLE(21-11)
HEAD TO HEAD: Titusville leads 4-2
NOTES (By Coop): The Hazard look to continue their current hot streak, after sweeping Manahawkin
last play week Syracuse is attempting to crash the American Division Playoff Party. Standing in their
way this week, the Titusville Perfectos. The Perfectos punched their ticket in a split with the Gangsta's
but still need one more win in order to clinch the first round bye. The Hazard will focus on winning but
their attention will also be drawn to the out of town scores with great interest in the Las Vegas and
Orlando series, with the Vipers and Sharks facing the Inmates and Pelicans, respectively. Atlanta,
Manahawkin and Syracuse currently sit in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot in the American
Division. Check your ERAs at the door for this one as two offenses with firepower go head to head as the
playoff picture starts to get a little more in focus with only two weeks left of baseball.
SERIES 5 LONG BEACH ISLAND(22-10) AT TALLAHASSEE(18-14)
HEAD TO HEAD: Tallahassee leads 16-10
NOTES: The American Division champions travel to face the Terriers in a cross divisional battle
between two likely playoff teams. Obviously the Starfish will head to the party playing the winner of the
Barnegat Bay against whomever series in the American Final. The Starfish can still clinch home field
throughout the playoffs and with their 7-7 record against the National Division vs. their dominate 15-3
record within the division, that might prove to be important. As for the Terriers, the dream continues for
the Legend. He stated earlier on that he just wanted to win ten games and then he proceeded to trade draft
picks two through five and once again is on the verge of making the post season. A possible Manager of
the Year candidate? Tallahassee has not missed the playoffs since 1996 and with one more win, they will
at least earn a one game playoff. If you in the hunt, nothing can be more exciting than late August
baseball in the ABL.
