Gold panning competitions schedule for 2014 A warm welcome to our new members Glen Miller Ron Haynes Ray Dube John Wolfe Buck Creek, Alberta The Alberta club will once again start this year’s gold panning season with the annual Spring Breakout event . We will go back to the site on the North Saskatchewan River at Buck Creek. It is quite close to Drayton Valley (see page 2 for directions) As in past years, club members will be able to camp free at the site. Camping will be on a gravel bar…. no hookups or sewer( hopefully we can get a porta-pottty) just a flat spot… equip yourself accordingly. Responsible quad use is allowed in this area. The events start at 10am Saturday with the AGPA sponsored Gold Panning Competition. There may be categories for children and adults, novice to pros, depending on numbers. Other events to watch for may include pan toss, dirt toss (you won’t believe this one), claim staking, a fun metal detecting competition and tall tale telling. The day’s activities will wrap-up with a BBQ dinner. Club supplies burger/hot dogs and the members supply potluck salads and or deserts followed by awards and some great prizes. Remember, you don’t have to know exactly what you are doing to participate in the competitions.
