The blooming technology has taken deep roots in every field
now a days. It is impossible for anyone to imagine a world
without high computing environment. It is the worst nightmare
for any organization to imagine its functioning without high
end automated systems. In the management field, I.T. plays a
vital role directly or indirectly.
Moreover, computers facilitate an electronic format for
storage of information, thereby saving paper. Homework
and test assignments submitted as soft copies save paper.
Electronically erasable memory devices can be used repeatedly.
They offer a robust storage of data and reliable data retrieval.
The importance of computers is evident today and having the
perfect know-how of computers can only propel one’s career in
the right direction. Today, computers are a part of almost every
industry. They are no more limited to the software industry.
They are widely used in networking, information access,
data storage and the processing of information for the most
effective decision making.

Going Global In A Big Way

the premiere and leading institutions of the world in the field of education. The vision serves manifold objectives to promote
international education through faculty exchange programmes, student exchange programmes, joint research programmes,
twinning programmes and externally funded consultancy programmes. It further serves the purpose of enhancing academic
standards to bring them at par with international standards which is really a major requirement for a B-School to succeed in the
era of globalization of education.
IDRAC’s International School of
Management, France
In line with the above objectives, we have signed agreements
in the recent past with IDRAC’s International School of
Management, France. The agreements broadly cover student
exchange programme and faculty exchange programmes.
Success speaks for itself with the fact that the two agreements
have been extremely successful. We have been able to invite
French students to our campus continuously since last three
years for one full academic term. This has served to establish
that Asia-Pacific meets international academic standards and
Programme. The interesting thing is that IDRAC International
School of Management has been equally keen to go ahead
with Faculty Exchange Programme. Mrs. Favre Benedicte,
Head International Relations, visited us recently and we have
had extensive discussions with her to work out details of the
Faculty Exchange Programme. Mrs. Benedicte during her
recent visit addressed Asia-Pacific’s faculty and students about
IDRAC’s International School of Management. Her presentation
was well received by the students and it has motivated AsiaPacific’s students to apply for Student Exchange Programme.
We expect to send about ten tudents to France every year to
implement student exchange program in its true sense.
at the same time we have developed close ties with IDRAC. That
is quite an achievement in such a short span of three years.
More interestingly, some of our French student-guests have
done so well during internship programmes with Indian
companies, that the Indian companies have given them job
offers to work in India at highly attractive compensation
packages. The French students have gladly accepted them and
are currently working in India. As part of the student exchange
agreement, we have sent Asia-Pacific’s students to France for a
full academic term. These students described the exposure to

The success of the Student Exchange Programme convinced us
that it was the right time to move ahead with Faculty Exchange

range of activities including study opportunities for visiting

SHAURYA: The E-Cell
Sports
Shaurya (the E-Cell) of Asia-Pacific Institute of Management
gives impetus to the development of budding entrepreneurs.
It is a platform to showcase and hone one’s entrepreneurial
skills. It was founded in 2007. The purpose of Shaurya is to
enlighten the inner self within an individual. Shaurya operates
in collaboration with National Entrepreneurship Network
(NEN). The faculty coordinators provide guidance to its
student members and help them in planning out the various
entrepreneurial events. Ms. Kalpana, NEN consultant, has
been appointed for Delhi NCR region with whom the faculty
coordinators as well as the members of Shaurya can directly
approach for any kind of assistance required. A core committee
of five students is appointed in the departments like HR,
Finance, Marketing, IT and Operations and the members of
Shaurya are then assigned various departments to ensure the
smooth flow of work.
An ignited mind in a
healthy body is a prime
requirement for the
budding manager. The
students are provided
gymnasium facilities and
encouraged to take part in various sports. The Annual Sports Day
is organised every year, that provides platform to the students to
display their talent in various indoor and outdoor games.
In order to nurture the entrepreneurship skills, Shaurya has
organized campus-wide events like E-Talk, Kalpana (The
Vichaar), Debate, E-Quiz, Platitude, Paisa Builder, E-Click,
E-Junkies. Shaurya members also host Annual NEN E-Leaders’
Summit at the institute’s campus. Every year Shaurya organizes
E-Week to foster the entrepreneurial skills through fun and
competitions.
Saying “No” to Ragging
The students join us without any apprehensions, as there is no place
for ragging in AIM. Stringent action, including filing of an FIR with the
police, may be taken against any student violating the ant-ragging
rules of Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, as per the latest order
from the honourable Supreme Court of India and AICTE regulations.
Students and their guardians need to sign an undertaking that the
students will not indulge in direct or indirect, verbal or nonverbal
ragging in any form.
cultural activities
Asia-Pacific Institute of Management organises annual cultural
and management fest INDRADHANUSH every year to bring with
itself to the campus all the colours of the rainbow, figuratively and
literally. Standing to its name, Indradhanush is a show of colors
brought into play in the arena of events like dance, quiz, singing,
extempore, acting etc. Colours of joy, celebration, fun take away
the monotonous routine of students and recharge them with
hope, faith and love. It is a platform on which students from
all sections came together and worked in sync with each other
creating a more friendly and amicable environment for the future.
It, for a while replaces all blues with undying spirit of excitement
and amusement. Indradhanush is more of a revealing session of
many hidden talents, which are as of yet unexplored.
Asia-Pacific Institute of Management had the privilege to
host competitions in cultural and academic fields where
participants from various other reputed institutes compete
in large number. Irrespective of the magnitude of effort put in
or the resources spent, a management and cultural fest is the
physical manifestation of the aspirations, hopes and dreams of
the students involved. It would not be narcissistic on our part to
quote that Indradhanush witnesses the grandeur of unveiling
and recognition of many a latent talents for personal amelioration
and for cultural development.

Education is not only the driving force for a leader to move
ahead in life but also the motivation to take an occasional pause
and reflect back, connect with one’s alma mater and share the
richness of one’s journey. The Annual Alumni Meet - Nostalgia,
2012, of the Asia Pacific Institute of Management proved to be
that pause. The event was organized on 24th November 2012.
This was the 14th Alumni Meet of the Institute wherein more
than 700 alumni participated. Nostalgia means ‘Remembrance
of Special Memories’. The first Nostalgia was organized in 1999
and from there on, Asia-Pacific has kept this theme alive and is
committed to organize event every year for creating a platform
to the alumni for reunion, re-living their old campus days and
sharing the experience with existing students. The event was
brought to life by the vivacious performances organized by
the students of current batch. The event was a grand success
in all respects with a plethora of cultural events organized and
managed by the students, which included group songs, dance
and comedy shows, etc.

Unemployment is globally regarded as a major social and
economic problem. But the first question that strikes the
mind is whether the problem is unemployment or lack of
employability? Today, the industry expects new recruits to come
to the corporate world with the proper balance of aptitude and
attitude. They expect them to be committed, dedicated, selfdisciplined, self-motivated, show high degree of learnability
and adaptability. According to a study by Higher Education
Forum, there are gaps that exist between the expectations of
the employers and skills possessed by the students churned
out from educational institutes. Unfortunately, it has been
observed that the youth today are educated but ‘unemployable’
i.e. they are not job ready in terms of “skill sets” required in the
industries.
The Labor Report states in 2007 “about 53% of employed youth
suffer from skill deprivation while only 8% are unemployed”. In
light of the above, the PG Lab at AIM is exclusively designed
to plug in the gap by increasing students’ employability. A
120-hours intensive program delivering experiential learning
both through class-room teaching and outbound trainings
(OBTs), has been set up by the institute to groom the
students in three major areas-Communication, Soft Skills and
Employability.
Through this Lab we have the aspiration to maximize the
chances of almost every employer to visit our campus and
hire our students. Training is a learning process that involves
the acquisition of knowledge, sharpening of skills, concepts,
rules, or changing of attitudes and behaviour to enhance the
performance of trainees. Department of Training specifically
understands the above notions to train the students on a rich
platform and helps them turn into effective managers.
Business Communication (BC-I & BC-II )
To strengthen the students’ language skills through basic
English grammar, the techniques and skills of communication,
are inculcated in the students by familiarizing them with various
types of listening, forms of speaking, reading skills, writing
skills, in order to bring students from varied backgrounds
to a standard level where they can express themselves with
minimal MTIs.
Soft
Skills
Enhancement
Programme (SSEP)
Employability Enhancement Programme (EEP-I &
EEP-II)
SSEP is organised to sensitize the students
on the importance of Soft Skills, strengthen
self perception and outlook through positive
thinking, build a ‘never say die’ attitude,
strengthen
Emotional
Intelligence
for
sustainable success in a managerial role &
Social Intelligence for connecting with the
outside world. Cross Cultural Intelligence (CCI)
for building rapport with people from different
backgrounds, helps them to learn Team Playing
Skills, Motivation, Image Building, Personal
Branding, Adaptability, Negotiation Skills,
Critical Thinking and Conflict Resolution Skills.
The objective of EEP is to help the students become focused about their goals and
objectives, to do a reality check and accordingly set attainable goals, It further
assists in Aspiration Management, Industry Analysis, building their resume,
exploring job opportunities on various online job portals, besides helping them
in becoming aware of different types of selection processes like GDPI, etc.
In the ever increasing competitive scenario, career development is of utmost
priority for any individual. After the academic and professional qualifications,
there is still a lot to learn before one enters into the corporate world. We
assist the students in accelerating the learning and in value addition to
their personality, confidence and enthusiasm to face day-to-day challenges
effectively. The lab specialises in providing career skills to the students from
varied backgrounds. We aim to enhance the employability of students by
training them on various skills & knowledge that the industry requires.
