The three millennia are described below. First Millennium: Roman Times The Romans fortified northern England with Hadrian’s Wall, now a World Heritage site. Examples: Hadrian’s Wall, Vindolanda Fort and Museum - excellent collections, Housteads Fort - frontier fort, Chesters Fort - bathhouse on the frontier, Roman Army Museum. Second Millennium: Middle Ages Experience the days of King Arthur, Knights, Stately Castles - even stay at Langley Castle.
