New News
by Wayne Potash (video)
New news, new news,
Who’s got some new news?
(Who’s got) new news, new news?
Who’s got new news to share?
I once was one but now I'm two,
I'm almost as big as you!
Chorus:
B, I, G, I'm big, B, I, G, I'm big,
B, I, G, I'm big, I'm big, big, big!
What’s your news? Awesome news!
(let each child share their news)
I once was two but now I'm three,
I'm as big as I can be! (chorus)
New news, new news,
Such awesome new news!
(We’ve got) new news, new news,
So much new news to share!
I once was three but now I'm four,
Look at me I've grown some more! (chorus)
I once was four but now I'm five,
I can almost reach the sky! (chorus)
I Love My Shoes
My Five Senses
by Lisa Baydush
to the tune of Freres Jacques (audio)
by Donovan Leitch, adapted (video)
I love my shoes, I love my shoes
My shoes are so com-for-tab-ly lovely (repeat)
I can see, I can see,
With my eyes, with my eyes;
I can see my friends, I can see my friends
With my eyes, with my eyes.
Jason has shoes that he really loves
Shoes that he feels so groovy in!
They’re red and white and
they make him jump high
That’s why these are Jason’s fav’rites! (chorus)
I can hear… birds singing
I can smell… a flower
I can taste… ice cream
I can touch… my toes
With My Own Two Hands
by Ben Harper (video)
I can change the world with my own two hands;
Make it a better place with my own two hands;
Make a kinder place with my own two hands;
with my own, with my own two hands (2x)
Look at Me by Lisa Baydush
Chorus:
Look at me, look at me!
I’m as big as I can be!
Look at me, look at me!
I’m growing up!
What can you do with your two hands?
Read a book, hug a friend, tie my shoes… skills and body awareness
(repeat at beginning and end)
I started out so very small,
Just a little ba-a-by;
But then I grew and went to school
Here at the JCC! (chorus)
Soon I’ll go to a new school,
Make new friends and learn new things;
But I know I always have a home
Here at the JCC! (chorus)
Boo Boo Song

Monkeys Jumpin’ Everywhere
The Itsy Bitsy Ackaveesh
by Lisa Baydush (audio)
arranged by Rick Recht (audio)
The itsy bitsy ackaveesh went up the mayim spout;
Down came the geshem and washed the ackaveesh out!
Out came the shemesh and dried up all the geshem,
so the itsy bitsy ackaveesh went up the spout again.
Chorus:
Monkeys jumpin’ up and down,
Monkeys jumpin’ all around,
Monkeys jumpin’ here and there,
Monkeys jumpin’ everywhere! (repeat)
The GREAT BIG Achaveesh…
When Ducks Get Up in the Morning (audio)
Monkeys were jumping here at school,
I guess they hadn’t heard about
the “no-monkey” rule;
It took all my teachers and half of my class
To settle the monkeys so we could ask…
When ducks get up in the morning,
they always say good day! (repeat)
Quack, quack, quack, quack, that is what they say,
They say: Quack, quack, quack, quack,
That is what they say! (Repeat with other animals)
Why are there…??? (chorus)
The blue monkey said they wanted to see
Why everyone was talking about the JCC;
The yellow monkey said
they thought it’d be cool
to learn all the things that we learn in school!
The Goldfish
by Laurie Berkner, (video)
Shabbat verse by Lisa Baydush
Lots of little fish were sleeping on a rock
at the bottom of the ocean.
They lifted up their heads and they shook out their tails,
and they said, “Let’s go swimming!”
Way cool!!! (chorus)
We ran to tell Miss Ora the really neat news!
She said, “Don’t be silly,
monkeys don’t come to school!”
She didn’t believe us, but then she saw
a whole bunch of monkeys jumpin’ in the hall!
Chorus:
Let’s go swimming, let’s go swimming,
Yeah, let’s go swimming!
Let’s go swimming, let’s go swimming,
at the bottom of the ocean.
What on earth?! (chorus)
“What’s going on? This just can’t be!
Monkeys don’t belong at the JCC!
Call the police! Call the zoo!
I’m really not sure what we should do!”
Then the little fish got so very, very tired that they came
back to the rock. And they put down their heads and
they put down their tails and they took a little nap…
‘Cause there are… (chorus)
…And when they woke up, they decided to take a shower.
And they washed their hair/ears/tummies/beards,
And they washed their nose/toes, and then they said…
“Wait a minute! We’re FISH! We don’t take showers!”
The pink monkey said, “Miss Ora, please,
we’d really like to stay at the JCC!”
The green monkey said he thought it was fun
to jump up and down with everyone!
…And when they woke up, they decided to brush their teeth.
Wheeee!!! (chorus)
So they got out their toothbrush and their toothpaste.
And they squeezed a little on, tried not to waste.
And they put it in their mouth, brushed North and South,
CH - CH - CH – CH, and then they said…
“Wait a minute! We’re FISH! We don’t brush our teeth!”
Miss Ora raised her hands and we all sat down,
Except for the monkeys who were jumpin’ around;
“You see,” Miss Ora said,
“why there’s a “no-monkey” rule?
It’s hard to learn if you’re jumping in school!”
…And when they woke up, they decided to ride their bicycles.
Ohhhh! (chorus)
And they rode to the left/right/all day/all night.
They rode down the hill/faster still, and then they said…
“Wait a minute! We’re FISH! We don’t ride bicycles!
The monkeys stopped jumpin’…
up and down/all around/
here and there/everywhere!
…And when they woke up, they decided to celebrate Shabbat!
The purple monkey said, “So what d’ya say?
We really like to come here every day!”
The orange monkey said, “we won’t jump around!”
And Miss Ora said, “Well…
just wait ‘til you’re at the playground!”
Yay!!! (chorus)
-2-
They got out the challah, they got out the wine,
They baked the challah, it smelled so fine!
They took a bite, it was outta site! And then they said…
“Wait a minute! We’re FISH! We don’t celebrate Shabbat!

Matilda the Gorilla by Mary Rice Hopkins (audio)
Baby Bumble Bee adapted by Richele Bartkowiak
I had a pet gorilla and her name was Matilda
Matilda loved to sing songs every day
And this is what Matilda the gorilla would say
I caught myself a baby bumble bee
Won’t my mommy be so proud of me
I caught myself a baby bumble bee
Ouch! He stung me!
Chorus:
She’d go: Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ah, ah, ah (3x)
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ah-ah, ah
I’m talking to my baby bumble bee
Won’t my mommy be so proud of me
I’m talking to my baby bumble bee
“Oh,” he said, “I’m sorry.”
So Matilda would go strolling through the park
The people would laugh and the dogs would bark
They never understood a word Matilda would sing
But Matilda she was doing her gorilla thing (chorus)
I’m letting go my baby bumble bee
Won’t my mommy be so proud of me
I’m letting go my baby bumble bee
Look, he’s happy to be free!
One day a circus man came along
He said, "Matilda, I know where you belong
We'll put you in the circus to sing your songs
And you can monkey around all day long" (chorus)
Fuzzy Caterpillar
TTTO Itsy Bitsy Spider
Matilda was as happy as could be
She'd eat her bananas and swing from the trees
Let’s go to the circus so you can see
Matilda the gorilla singing happily (chorus)
Fuzzy caterpillar, curled up on a leaf
Spun a little chrysalis and then she fell asleep
While she was sleeping, she dreamed that she could fly,
And when she woke up, she was a butterfly!

The other day I met a bear,

He looked at me (echo), I looked at him (echo)
He sized up me (echo), I sized up him (echo)…

And so I climbed (echo) way up that tree (echo)
But then that bear (echo) climbed after me (echo)…
by Lisa Baydush
I looked at him (echo), he looked at me (echo)
I said a prayer: (echo) Please don’t eat me! (echo)…
I have a dog who likes to sing
My little dog sings anything
When she sings she sings like this: (animal sound)

In the beginning, day and night (day and night)
Noah used a hammer, hammer, hammer,
Noah used a hammer to build the ark. (repeat)
Then came the land, the sky and sea… (echo)

Who Built the Ark/Teva?
Next came the sun, the moon and stars… (echo)
Next came the animals, birds and fish… (echo)

Who built the ark/teva? Noah did! (repeat)
Last came the people, Adam and Eve… (echo)
Last came the people, you and me… (echo)

When the rain stopped falling and the land was dry…
A beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky! Oh… (chorus)

Children of the Lord
Good Ol’ Noah Built an Ark
(Lisa’s prop)
by Lisa Baydush TTTO Old MacDonald Had a Farm
The Lord said to Noah, there’s gonna be a floody
floody…Get your children out of the muddy-muddy…
Good ol’ Noah built an ark
’cause God said it would rain,
And on that ark he took two cows,
who moo’ed and moo’ed all day.
So Noah, he built him, he built him an arky-arky…
Made it out of hickory barky-barky…
The animals, they came on by 2’sies-2’sies…
Elephants and kangaroosies-roosies…
They moo-moo’ed here,
and they moo-moo’ed there
Here a moo, there a moo,
everywhere a moo-moo!
It rained and poured for 40 daysies-daysies…
Drove the animals nearly crazy-crazy…
End song:
And then one day the sun came out, and the water went away…
So Noah opened the door of the ark…
The sun came out and dried up the landy-landy…
Everything was fine and dandy-dandy…
Good ol’ Noah waved goodbye, Shalom, shalom, shalom!
This is the end of, the end of the story-story…
Everything was hunky dory-dory…

Bum bum bum bum (2x) (marching in place)
Put the band in the air, in the air (2x)
Put the band in the air, and shake it way up there
Put the band in the air, in the air

And when they’re up they’re up,
And when they’re down they’re down,
And when they’re only half-way up—--,
They’re neither up nor down!
Put the band way down low…touch your toe!
Put the band in the middle… and make it wiggle!
Put the band on your knees… and everybody sneeze!
Put the band way up high…and stretch up to the sky!
Put the band on the ground… no one make a sound!
Stretch the band over here… now stretch it over there!

The leaves on the trees are falling down,
falling down, falling down
The leaves on the trees are falling down
all through the town!
I’m going pumpkin picking with my friends,
We’ll go on a hayride at the very end;
I’m going pumpkin picking with my friends,
Look! I got a big one!
…The wind blows the trees from side to side…
…The leaves on the ground go crunch…
…The children throw the leaves up in the air…
I’m carving out my pumpkin, big and round,
I looked inside and strings are hanging down;
I’m carving out my pumpkin, big and round,
Ewww! It’s gooey!
Autumn Leaves
I’m scooping out my pumpkin, big and round,
I looked inside and seeds is what I found;

Blowing in the wind, dancing in the sky,
Autumn’s come again, wish that I could fly,
Autumn leaves (3x) are falling.

It's loud and slow and mighty strong,
But most of all, it's BIG!

A yellow school bus goes beep, beep, beep!
And we all go traveling by, by, by,
And we all go traveling by!

A red fire truck goes woo, woo, woo…
A purple dump truck goes rumble, rumble, rumble…
A long blue train goes chug, chug, chug…

If you’re thankful on Thanksgiving, give a hug!
We give thanks for moms & dads, & everything we have…
With a wobble, wobble, wobble
and a gobble, gobble, gobble,
All the turkeys spread their feathers
on Thanksgiving Day.
When they see the farmer coming
All the turkeys start a-running
And they say: “You cannot catch us
on Thanksgiving Day!”
If you’re hungry on Thanksgiving, rub your tummy!
There’s lots & lots to eat, get a plate & take a seat…
If you’re tired on Thanksgiving, take a nap!
After lots and lots of eatin’, it’s nice to do some sleepin’…

Grow our roots, grow our roots,
This is the way we grow our roots,

Spread my branches and grow more leaves
So I can take in everything I need (chorus)

I might grow fruit, an apple or a pear
Give you shelter or give you air
