Harley Quinn Cork Gun
Thanks for choosing The Kingston Vacuum Works' resin model of this unusual subject.
Harley Quinn is the notorious gun-moll of The Joker-- famous adversaries of DC
Comics' Batman! Harley Quinn is dementedly in love with The Joker and makes use of
this "funny" cork gun in her attempts to impress her Joker. The gun in the comics shoots
all kinds of large-caliber rounds. Your gun cannot! Your gun is for play, treat it seriously
and be carefull when and where you show it off! I recommend a play environment and
bright lights. Make sure your toy gun is secure when you're not using it-- don't let kids
play with it without your supervision. Also, this is sturdy, but not tough! So be gentle
and so advise others who handle it!
Assembling The Resin Model
Harley Quinn Cork Gun
What You'll Need:
Cutting tool-- an X-Acto knife with a fresh #11 blade or any
hobby knife with a new blade.
Sandpaper-- fine and coarse are relative terms, but 320 (fine)
and 150 (coarse) is a good start. Wet-or-dry is a kind of
sandpaper that allows one to be used under running water. That
clears the sandpaper grit and material from the model surface,
but is not strictly necessary. I recommend the use of nailsanders as they are convenient and will do almost everything
you need.
Gap-Filling Cyanoacrylic "Super Glue"-- you may sand
through or cut through the surface. Fill any small holes, let dry
for about 10 minutes-- you can also trim with a blade-- then
sand. Any longer and it gets harder than the resin and is harder
to sand.
Small drill bit-- a brass rod for use as a paint stand is included,
it is 3/32" in diameter. That, according to my uncertain math, is

equal to 2.4mm. In the future, the brass tube size may change.
Whatever it is, you will need a drill bit that is the same
diameter. You may need some masking tape on the tube to
prevent it from slipping into the model.
Paint-- primer and whatever final "metal" color you wish. I
recommend the use of auto-body spray-on primer and, if you
find a color you like at the auto parts shop, a spray can of that
too. If you have access to a modelling or hobby shop, Testors
brand "Titanium" and "German Silver" both gave me excellent
results (for different versions). I have gotten similar results
with Krylon and Rustoleum brand primers and paints, which
are available at Home Depot as well as hobby/craft shops. If
you want to add a little more protection to your paint finish,
add a coat of Testors Dull-Cote or Gloss Cote-- depending on
the finished look you wish.
You can slice the flash, gently scrape with the back of the blade or just pull the flash off with
your fingers. If there are any little "bubbles" of resin, they can be easily sliced off. Lightly sand
the seam, let the sanding medium do the work.
There is a prominent
blob in the middle of the
barrel. Gently, using
finger pressure, twist the
drill bit into the resin.
At this point, you can
start spray-painting. Start
off the model, spray
quickly onto and past the
model then stop. Several
light coats are better than
one heavy one. Prime and

a small start of a hole in the butt of the
pistol grip. Gently screw the screw-eye
into the hole. You can screw directly into
the--broad-- face of the cork. Place the
cork into the barrel, tie the string into
each screw-eye.
