Items will go by number. Keep this special section handy for

ITEMS ON EACH PAGE will be on auction during each
30 minute period. At the end of that time, they will be sold to
the highest bidders. The successful bidders will then report to
the auction storeroom at their earliest convenience and pay for
the items. They, in turn, will receive the items at the storeroom or will receive a slip indicating the item has been paid
for and will be able to pick up the item at the donor’s place of
business.
The Auction Storeroom this year
is being sponsored by
Katahdin Valley Health Center.
It is located in Watson Hall at the rear of the
Episcopal Church on Main Street.

PROCEEDS from this AUCTION
The major thrust of this year’s auction will support the
equipment upgrade at the Just for Kids playground, a
computerized cataloguing system for the Southern
Aroostook Agricultural Museum & the Dominican Water
Project.
Other projects to be supported this year are: Dollars For
Scholars (SAD 29, SAD 70, SACHS, SAD 14, GHCA),
Cary Library, Salvation Army, Student Recognition Day,
and Rotary Youth Exchange. In addition, the auction will
support the Boy and the Boot Foundation of the Houlton
Regional Health Services Foundation. We also support
Rotary International Projects.
The Houlton Rotary Club wishes to express its thanks to
our area advertisers, contributing businesses, patrons,
bidders, and news media for their continued support in
making the Radio/TV Auction a success.

HOULTON ROTARY CLUB SPONSORS ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE
Rotary Youth Exchange is an official program of
Rotary International. According to RI’s web site, “since
1927, students and host families all over the world
have had their horizons broadened and their lives
enriched by the generosity of Rotary’s Youth Exchange
program.” The program is administered by Rotary
clubs, districts and multidistrict groups. More than 82
countries and over 8,000 students are involved each
year.
The Houlton Rotary Club became involved in the
Rotary Youth Exchange program in 2004. Two to three
students have been selected each year from area
schools for a 6-8 week exchange program that takes
place during the summer months. Local students have
visited Germany, France, Brazil, Italy, Sweden, Finland,
The Netherlands, and Czech Republic. The students
visit another country and live in an exchange student’s
home with that student’s family. The foreign exchange
student then visits our area and stays with the local student’s family.
Local students that have been selected to participate in Houlton Rotary’s Youth Exchange program
include Jacob Callnan, Ashley Gard, Brian
McMann, Emily McGary, Ally Carmichael,
Chris McGuire, Tyler Delano, Danica
Fitzpatrick, Chelsi Murray, Abby Kinens,
Phoenix Crockett and Josh Sullivan from
Houlton High School; Ester Elmore from
Greater Houlton Christian Academy; Justin Quint, Sara
Brewer, Brianne McGary, Kim Levesque and Dayna
Tidd from Hodgdon High School.
The Houlton Rotary Club is committed to continuing the program to benefit area students. The local
club assumes the major financial obligations of the program by providing all students with round trip air fare,
application, VISA and other application fees, short-term
life insurance and Rotary Youth Exchange apparel.
Since 2009, the Houlton Rotary Club has hosted a
Community Bingo Night in the spring as a special
fundraiser for the Youth Exchange Program. Coming up
will be the 5th Annual Event in the Spring of 2013.
