Help Phone Homes for the Holidays seasonal tour and fundraiser.
This event brings family and friends together to tour five beautifully decorated
homes for the holiday season. Local homeowners, designers, retail stores, and
countless volunteers generously give their time and talent to make this event a
huge success. We would like to thank each and every one of them for their support.
From contemporary to heritage, this year’s themes showcase our designer’s
creativity and talent which will inspire you to create your own theme. Our
designers, including Celebrity designer Jillian Harris, Founder and Creative
Director of jillianharris.com, Host of Love It or List It (Vancouver) and formerly
on ABC’s The Bachelor & Bachelorette, will be pleased to meet you!
Ensuring Kids Help Phone service is always there and that we keep innovating
to stay current with young people’s emerging needs requires a consistent and
ongoing investment. Our deepest thanks to our sponsors and event attendees who

For the first time, Homes For the Holidays is proud
to announce that Love It or List It celebrity designer
Jillian Harris and her talented design team have joined
to decorate one of Vancouver’s most iconic homes in her
signature style. Famous for mixing vintage with modern designs,
Jillian has teamed up with her go-to design sources to transform
Wood House into a winter wonderland.
Inspired by the grandeur and elegance of the home, Jillian has
decorated an enormous white flocked Christmas tree in silver and
gold. The grand fireplace and mantle are festooned with stockings
and garlands, and overstuffed pillows and blankets adorn every
chair while an elegantly set dining table brings contemporary sparkle
and style to this historic home. And if all this wasn’t enough, the
adjacent Butler’s pantry is home to flutes of champagne and ceiling
high displays of delicious French macarons!
The kitchen is filled with the delicious scent of hot apple cider
simmering on the stove alongside freshly baked treats providing a
cozy warm atmosphere for the family room with a traditional tree
decorated with individually sourced vintage Christmas ornaments
and with beautifully wrapped gifts piled beneath it, just waiting to
be opened.
Upstairs you will continue to see how the home has been
lovingly updated to add modern comforts without compromising
its detail rich architecture.
Jillian and her team have surpassed themselves this season,
creating a show-stopping Christmas for a scene stealing home.

Experience an ultra-green Christmas set in a ultra-contemporary
home. Designed and built by the late Chart McCulloch and wife Pat,
this home of minimalist interior readily adapts to seasonal decorations.
As you approach the home through a mature serene garden with a
reflecting pool you immediately leave behind the hustle and bustle
and escape into privacy. The contemporary design is apparent as you
enter through a translucent glass front door and up the hanging
glass/corian staircase to an open floor plan with floor to ceiling
windows exposing stunning views of mother nature.
Pulling inspiration from the homeowners extensive art collection
and the surrounding outdoors, lead designer, Bianca Fusco Zanatta
of M. Zanatta Homes notes the décor is simple and “creatively green”.
Using a combination of branches, pinecones, twigs and greenery
combined with a splash of color from seasonal flowers, berries, fruits
and nuts while incorporating natural colors and textures provides the
perfect opportunity to punch it up with some opulence by introducing
an accent of silver and white décor provided by Garden Works.
The dining table is set by Pedersen’s Party Rentals mixing a few
favourite antique pieces with contemporary design to create a harmonious luxurious setting that compliments the “creatively green” theme with
table arrangements running the length of the table by Thomas Hobbs.
The downstairs family room continues to be “creatively green”
with a live Christmas Tree punctuated with red accents.
And the greatest thing about being “creatively green” is that, once
the season is over, everything goes back to where it came from, nature!

Arriving past the box hedges through a black wrought iron gate,
you are greeted by an expansive front yard and a curved path leading
to the impressive front façade of this beautiful Georgian home. You
will recognize the comfort and soul of this family home as you step
into the coat room. A perimeter of inky black paneling, punctuated
with black and white coat hooks and an upholstered bench provides
a cozy moment as you kick off your winter boots. Moving into the
charming center foyer, you are transported into a welcoming family
home with high style.
In the heart of the iconic Vancouver Shaughnessy neighbourhood,
Dexter Dolores, of Dexter Dolores Interiors, along with his design team
have partnered with Granville Island Florists and Urban Barn to create
a sophisticated holiday home worthy of the refined palette this neighbourhood is known for. Succulent greens and crystals accent the home
providing a subdued sense of edginess, while the simple floral arrangements allow for the space to feel comfortable and unaffected. The living
room to the left of the center foyer carries with it an air of fantasy,
while the deeply hued dining room opposite provides an enveloping
atmosphere for an intimate holiday feast. The family room adjacent
to the (elegant) shaker-style kitchen offers a casual and comfortable
space for Christmas morning fun and relaxation. The private quarters
on the upper level will allow a glimpse into the eclectic personalities
of the family, with each room showcasing their own unique décor
supplemented with holiday charms.

Built in 1912, this timeless Shaughnessy home mixes contemporary
styling balanced with its Arts and Crafts heritage. This home is the
perfect combination of comfort and style and has plenty of room for
entertaining and relaxation. The family purchased the home in 2007
and although the structure had already undergone a substantial
renovation in 2000, they chose to expand their entertainment space
outdoors by connecting the dining area with a new updated deck and
patio. Featuring an exterior gas fireplace with seating and a dining area
large enough to accommodate 8 people, the homeowners are able to
maximize their short west coast summer season. Working with the
home’s slightly eclectic feel, Danielle Molnar’s Accentrix Design team
felt that a whimsical approach would be the right choice for this
year’s holiday décor. Through creative use of lighting, abundant ropes
of floral draping, mixed seasonal greens and an unconventional “tree”,
the design channels Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, interpreting
the children’s classic tale for the modern interior.
The experience starts at the gate, where over-scale florals inspired
by the Queen of Heart’s enchanted winter garden frame the paved
walkway. As guests enter the foyer and tour through both floors of the
home, they will pass through a Mad Hatter’s holiday tea party that is both
modern-day sophisticated and wonderland quirky. Like the characters in
the story, colourful vignettes pop up throughout the home in unexpected
places that will titillate the imagination
of the old and young alike.

Natural Eclectric, fresh flowers supplied by ourlittleflowercompany,
and Accentrix’s own extensive décor collection,
Christmas takes a journey down the rabbit
hole of whimsy and eccentricity,

Christmas
Working closely with the clients, Sublime Interior Design Ltd and
EDG homes designed a house that was custom built by Mercia
Construction. This beautiful new home takes a slightly more modern
twist on the traditional Vancouver craftsman exterior, while blending
seamlessly with many of the old homes in the Cambie Village neighbourhood. Inside Sublime produced a west coast style that is light
and bright with a very open space plan. By using Nano walls opening
onto the back deck/yard, an indoor-outdoor feeling is created, something that Sublime is known for! Using a light colour scheme, clean
lines and a mix of textures provides a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere
for family and friends to cook and entertain in a comfortable setting.
Sublime Interior Design Ltd. and Pier 1 imports are coming
together this year for Homes for the Holidays. They will be decking
out this home focusing on the fun and whimsy Christmas decor.
By use of layering pattern and texture with a combination of a
colour blocking technique with bright bold hues, a harmonious
and festive ambiance will be showcased. It will be bright and
bold decor that will evoke those deep rooted Christmas
childhood memories by including twinkling lights, milk
and cookies for Santa, and a warm cozy family
feeling. Of course not to forget, dressing the dining
table for a Turkey dinner fit for a family feast
is a must!
