Annual Report 2014 - United Senior Services
Our Vision Older adults in Clark County enjoy vibrant, healthy, independent lives. Our Mission is to enhance the lives of Clark County older adults by offering quality services that promote being active, staying involved and independent living. Board of Trustees President Darrell Kitchen Vice President Darryl Bauer Treasurer Mike Trempe Secretary Marjorie Travis Hugh Barnett George Degenhart Donald Flowers Wendy Ford Vicky Forrest Darrell Howard Hattie Millender Charlie Morris Dan O’Keefe Scott Powell Sheila Rice Larry Todd Jeanette Wehler Annual Report 2014 Dear Members and Friends, I am happy to present this report on the state of the agency as we close out 2014 and move forward into 2015 and beyond. First and foremost, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, please accept our sincere thank you for the passage of the Clark County Senior Services Levy renewal on November 4, 2014. This renewal was especially meaningful for our agency because voters approved the levy by 74%, our largest margin ever, and passed it in every precinct, another first. We recognize that this resounding approval was a result of the respect and trust our agency has earned of Clark County voters and we will continue to work hard to keep it. In addition to solid financial footing, USS has experienced increased demand for the high quality programs and services we offer. In Clark County the senior population continues to surge. Over 30% of Clark Countians are eligible to be members of our agency and enjoy our broad offerings. The US Census Bureau projects that percentage will increase to 35% in the next 5 years! To prepare for this increased population USS recently purchased 125 W Main Street in downtown Springfield. The move and renovation of our new building will result in increased space for members and staff. Our vision includes renovating the space beginning this fall, for expanded programming, improved security, integrated technology, plenty of flexible room to grow and an updated look inside and out. Our goal is to move to our a fully accessible building in the late summer of 2016. USS remains dedicated to helping older adults in Clark County live the best life possible with dependable, high quality programs and services. Now is the time to get involved! Thank you for the opportunity, ANNUAL M E E TI N G A G E N D A Welcome Darrell Kitchen Approval of the 2014 Minutes Marjorie Travis Treasurer’s Report Mike Trempe Nominating Committee Report Marjorie Travis Proposed Amendment Darrell Kitchen Executive Director’s Report Maureen Fagans Refreshments and Music U N IT E D S E N I O R S E RV I C E S S TA F F Maureen Fagans Joyce Ware Randy Yontz Denise Gresh Abby Johnson Janie Skogstrom Penny McKean Teresa Stetler-Clear TRANSPORTATION Dale Rapp – Director Lisa McDonough—Technician Dan Sherrock—Supervisor Charles Battle – Driver John Benysek - Driver Thomas Blake – Sub Driver Bruce Carter— Driver Percy Davis – Sub Driver Douglas Harris – Driver Pete Jackson – Driver John Lautzenheiser - Driver Mike McNutt - Driver Janet Strome – Driver Larry Strome – Driver Marilynn Blackman “My husband was in a wheelchair when he was asked to try chair volleyball at the center. He enjoyed it so much and had fun teasing and joking. When he died the group came to his funeral in their team shirts. That meant a lot to me. I still attend chair volleyball - it’s a great group and now friends. www.unitedseniorservices.org ADMINISTRATION Executive Director Assistant Director of Finance & Personnel Assistant Director Programs & Facilities Accountant Accountant Assistant Public Relations Coordinator Executive Assistant Administrative Assistant Donna Frederick C.A.R.E.
