Annual Report 2014
Dear Members and Friends,
I am happy to present this report on the state of the agency as we close out
2014 and move forward into 2015 and beyond.
First and foremost, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, please accept our sincere
thank you for the passage of the Clark County Senior Services Levy renewal on November 4, 2014. This renewal was especially meaningful for our agency because voters approved the levy by 74%, our largest margin ever, and passed it in every precinct, another first. We recognize that this resounding approval was a result of the respect and
trust our agency has earned of Clark County voters and we will continue to work hard to
keep it.
In addition to solid financial footing, USS has experienced increased demand for
the high quality programs and services we offer. In Clark County the senior population
continues to surge. Over 30% of Clark Countians are eligible to be members of our
agency and enjoy our broad offerings. The US Census Bureau projects that percentage
will increase to 35% in the next 5 years! To prepare for this increased population USS
recently purchased 125 W Main Street in downtown Springfield. The move and renovation of our new building will result in increased space for members and staff. Our vision
includes renovating the space beginning this fall, for expanded programming, improved
security, integrated technology, plenty of flexible room to grow and an updated look
inside and out. Our goal is to move to our a fully accessible building in the late summer
of 2016.
USS remains dedicated to helping older adults in Clark County live the best life
possible with dependable, high quality programs and services. Now is the time to get
involved! Thank you for the opportunity,

wheelchair when he was asked to try chair
volleyball at the center. He enjoyed it so much
and had fun teasing and joking. When he died
the group came to his funeral in their team
shirts. That meant a lot to me. I still attend
chair volleyball - it’s a great group and now
friends.

Cynthia Nowka “The tour program is wonderful and
well organized. There are a variety of trips for all fitness
levels, from zip lining to riverboats and shows. My husband and I will definitely travel more when he retires.”
Lin McCurdy “I started visiting USS for pickleball lessons. Since then I have continued to play this great sport
and have become aware of the many ways that USS
contributes to the community through its services. From
social activities to the caring services of meal distribution
and more, USS makes being a little older a lot better.”
