ORGATEC | 2014 4 5 Borges, designed by Studio Kairos, is an alternative solution to the classical layout systems and grids typically composed of a tabletop in a standard dimension. 7 From this narrower central axis, stem many elements to create a standard depth for working, a space for meeting, available in various sizes and forms, mini-worktops for tablets, and a hood for concentration. All elements placed on the central axis system, can be easily shifted and moved along the core lifeline without the use of any tools. All elements are free to slide along the central beam’s connection channel that extends along the main axis. 8 ORGATEC | 2014 The architect, or the planner can play around with the elements of the system to create their own reference points and scale, and endeavor as many dimensions as possible using an endless variety of options in composing a “unique” work habitat around the “shelf axis”. In this way a unique layout is composed for each project and place, and is not be replicated in any other. The authenticity of each composition is the result of the behavioral attitude of the open design process. 10 11 Borges meeting table is presented in 3 table top alternatives; oval, rectangle and square. With its laminate, veneer and marble table top options and epoxy legs, Borges fulfills the needs of meeting groups ranging from 4 to 12 participants. 13 Technical Specifications Borges Manager Borges Meeting Materials & Finishes Table top: Manufactured as natural veneer finish on 25 mm (0.9 inch) MDF. Borges Workstation HORIZONTAL FRAME Materials & Finishes Aluminum extrusion profile and epoxy-painted 40x40x2 mm (1.6x1.6x0.1 inch) box profile. Materials & Finishes TABLE TOP It is manufactured as laminate finish on 25 mm (0.9 inch) MDF. Fastening Elements Aluminium injection is connected to aluminum case via corner fittings and M6 bolts. Table Frame; epoxy painted aluminium profile. Table frame: Epoxy-painted aluminum profile. Laminate finish on 25 mm (0.9 inch) MDF top. Legs: Epoxy-painted aluminum injection leg. The lower part is mounted with adjustable special feet. Leg - case installation element: Epoxy-painted aluminum injection corner piece. Fastening Elements The connection between profiles of frame making up table case and the leg is made via molded corner fittings and special fastening elements. Table top can be installed with sliding rails. SIDE PEDESTAL Materials & Finishes Base and drawer panels 25 mm (0.9 inch) MDF with veneer finish. Side panel frames are veneer finish on 25 mm (0.9 inch) MDF; side panels in the frame are lacquer finish on 18 mm (0.7 inch) MDF. Hidden rails and push to open drawers are used. MODESTY PANELS Materials & Finishes Veneer finish on 18 mm (0.7 inch) chipboard. Fastening Elements Table is connected to aluminum profiles with M6 screws. Base slab is manufactured as 25 mm (0.9 inch) melamine board. ABS edge banding with same color of table top. Cable lids are epoxy painted or naturally veneered on aluminum extrusion profile. Epoxy-painted cable trays made of 1,5 mm (0.05 inch) sheet metal are connected to lower slabs. Fastening Elements Interconnections among the slabs and cable trays are connected to frame with M6 bolts and M6 rings. LEGS Materials & Finishes Epoxy painted aluminium injection. The feet are designed for leveling. Leg: Epoxy painted aluminium injection leg with special section. The feet are designed for leveling. Leg-Frame Mounting Component: Epoxy painted aluminium injection corner piece. CABLE LIDS Materials & Finishes Epoxy painted aluminum extrusion profile with soft closing. For veneer finish tables, cable lid is naturally veneered with soft closing. Fastening Elements Profiles of frame and legs are connected with corner pieces. CABLE TRAYS Materials & Finishes Epoxy-painted 1.5 mm (0.05 inch) sheet metal. DIVIDING AND FRONT SCREEN Materials & Finishes Fabric covered EPS panels with epoxy painted aliminium frame. Table top can be installed with sliding rails. Fastening Elements In single desks, screen is connected to table frame by 40x40mm (1.6x1.6 inch) box profile. In workstations, dividing panels are connected to middle frame by axle. TOP SHELF Materials & Finishes Lacquer finish on 14 mm (0.6 inch) MDF. Legs: Specially lathed transmission, epoxy painted. Fastening Elements The shelves located between two table tops in working stations are joint to the cable tray with M8 screws. The shelves located on the panels, however, are joint to the panel with special plastic injection materials and M6 screws. SIDE EXTENSION & PEDESTAL Materials & Finishes Frame: 1 mm (0.3 inch) sheet metal, epoxy painted. Drawer panels, back panel, doors, bottom shelf; are produced as 18 mm (0.7 inch) melamine. ACCESSORY SHELF Materials & Finishes Epoxy painted 2 mm (0.1 inch) perforated sheet panel. CABLE MANAGEMENT Materials & Finishes In single tables, cables received from the ground reach the cable tray and socket box under the table. From there, move through the cable lid over the table top and reach the table surface. In tables with side extension and pedestal; cables received from the ground reach the cable tray and socket box under the table through the side extension and pedestal. From there, move through the cable lid over the table top and reach the table surface. Pencil Tray: Black powder painted, 100% steel and recyclable drawer frame. Nickel coated steel rail system. 25-45 kg (55.1-99.2 lbs) loading capacity. Partially and fully opening options. Anti-drop safety system. Vertical adjustment in the drawer panel. MODESTY PANEL Materials & Finishes Epoxy painted 2 mm (0.1 inch) perforated sheet panel. Fastening Elements Connected to frame with M6 screws.
