Dear Sennett Families:
This is the time of year that we could all use some warm weather and green grass to let us know that spring is near.
I am very excited and proud of the efforts and performance of our staff and students and am looking forward to a
wonderful conclusion to the school year.
I would like to encourage each of you to join us at the Parent Action Team meeting on Wednesday March 4th at
6pm. We would like to communicate and receive your feedback on the following topics:

The expansion of the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) and English as a Second Language (ESL)
programming and how that will impact the restructuring of our house system.

The Foundation for Madison's Public Schools, More for the Middle Campaign and how it will impact Sennett
Middle School.

The school referendum and its impact on Sennett and other Lafollette area schools.
I look forward to an engaging and thought provoking conversation with you and look forward to hearing your
valuable input as we move forward. Thank you for all you do to support your school community. We appreciate
you and your children!
Sincerely,
Dr. Tremayne Clardy
Principal

Sennett School Improvement Plan (SIP) Notes
Data (Achievement & Implementation) Summary:
 Deep Dive: After our Deep Dive, it is apparent we need to narrow our focus with the large
number of initiatives in action to support our students. We need to keep in the forefront
of our minds that our practice should work on building metacognition in our students and
accelerating the learning of our African American and English Language Learners, our
two focus groups in the SIP.
 PCT: Teachers continue to work during collaboration time on Mondays. Encore learned
about strategies to support English Language Learners. Language Arts and Math looked
at student work and assessment, aligned to the standards. All teams used data to support
decisions.
Structure Summary:
Our ESL redesign team continues to meet on Wednesdays to determine how we can restructure
Sennett to best meet the needs of our DLI and ESL students while maintaining the integrity and
strength that exists in the building. Sennett is looking to create a “5th Core” option where 6th
graders will be in 6th grade reading, and 7th and 8th graders will be in World Language. Sennett
is restructuring to meet the needs of our students.
Congratulations to the winner of the 2015 Spelling Bee:
Alex Thao from House 4! Alex will represent Sennett at
the All City Bee on Saturday, February 21st @ 10:00 in
MATC's theater. Henry Bull Lyon from House 1 came in
2nd place, after a lengthy championship round! Also, from
House 1, the 3rd place winner was Mina Linsenmayer.
