All India Engineering Entrance Examination 2006 28 Introduction Programme of Action (PoA), 1992 under the National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986 envisaged conduct of a common entrance examination on all India basis for admission to professional and technical programs in the country. For admission to Engineering and Architecture/Planning programs, Government of India vide Resolution dated 18th October 2001 has laid down a Three – Exam Scheme (JEE and AIEEE at the National Level and the State Level Engineering Entrance Examinations (SLEEE) for State Level Institutions – with an option to join AIEEE). This takes care of varying admission standards in these programs and helps in maintenance of professional standards. This also solves problems of overlaps and reduces physical, mental and financial burden on students and their parents due to multiplicity of entrance examinations. Examination Schedule AIEEE will be conducted on the following dates as per schedule given below: Date of Examination: 30.04.2006 Paper: Paper 1 Subjects: Physics,Chemistry & Mathematics Timings: 0930-1230 Hours Duration: 3 Hours Date of Examination: 30.04.2006 Paper: Paper 2 Subjects: Mathematics & Aptitude Test Timings: 1400-1700 Hrs Duration: 3 Hours For those unable to appear in AIEEE on scheduled date of examination for any reason, no re-examination shall be held under any circumstances. Each computer is connected to a server which prepares the question set and delivers it to the candidate on the computer. This is unlike the traditional paper-pencil based test which is generally offered on a single day to all candidates. BITSAT-2006 will be offered over a period of time and the candidate can choose the center, the day and time of his/her convenience to take the test, as described in the later sections.
