embarrassments, excuses and evasions, minor deceptions
and major misunderstandings.

The world première of
Seeing the Lights
by Brendan Murray
A Theatre by the Lake production
directed by Stefan Escreet
designed by Anna Pilcher-Dunn
A brand new hilarious comedy about family relationships,
rivalries and responsibilities. Terry is a nurse by day and
full time carer for his mum by night. As her 75th birthday
approaches, the family descends and the siblings start
to bicker. Should mum be in a home? Who’s done the
most for her and who knows best? Terry wants things
to stay as they are, but his sister Marion has other ideas.
And then there’s the will…
As the pressure builds and her favourite son Kenneth
still hasn’t arrived for the party, mum’s left wondering
if she’ll ever get to see Blackpool Illuminations just one
more time.

The Comedy of Errors
by William Shakespeare
A Theatre by the Lake production
directed by Ian Forrest
designed by Martin Johns
Twenty years after being separated in a shipwreck as
babies, two pairs of identical twins find themselves in the
seaport of Ephesus, a town with a reputation for sorcery
and magic. Mistaken for each other, they are constantly
bewildered by bizarre encounters, cross-purpose
conversations and baffling misunderstandings. It all ends
in riotous chaos.
Shakespeare’s shortest play is a brilliantly colourful,
mystical romantic comedy of confusion, reconciliation
and reunion. Our production is Theatre by the Lake’s
contribution to the 450th anniversary celebrations of
Shakespeare’s birth.

Old Times
by Harold Pinter
A Theatre by the Lake production
directed by Mary Papadima
designed by Anna Pilcher-Dunn
When two friends reunite after 20 years apart, sparks
begin to fly. Anna returns to visit her old friend Kate and
meets Deeley, Kate’s husband. What begins as a reunion
reminiscing about their early years soon turns into
something more sinister.
An emotional battle commences where conflicting
memories clash, sexual tension mounts and the lines
between the past and the present, reality and imagination
begin to blur.
Pinter’s most passionate and mysterious of plays leaves
you questioning where the truth really lies. Don’t miss
this electrifying, enigmatic and gripping masterpiece.
