General settings
Put Omnitapps always on top: This is a common setting to force Omnitapps to be viewed on top of all other windows.
Back to menu timeout in seconds: The amount of seconds after where Omnitapps will return automatically return to the menu.
Enable mouse emulation: When checked you can control Omnitapps with a mouse device.
Normally Omnitapps can be controlled with multitouch: Movable items can be scaled and rotated with multiple touch fingers or multiple users.
Note: When you are running Omnitapps in mouse emulation do not use a multitouch screen to control Omnitapps since it “listens” to singletouch events.
Show mouse emulation notifier at startup: When checked Omnitapps shows a popup message at startup when Omnitapps starts in mouse mode.(as a
reminder) When you configure Omnitapps on your local computer with no touchscreen attached you enable mouse emulation. Afterward when you run your
configuration on a touchscreen enabled system the mouse emulation setting is often forgotten thus not turned off.
Enable corner transformations through the use of the designated black area on touch elements: When checked Omnitapps displays little corner elements on media items. When you touch (or click) this corner you can scale/rotate that item with one finger. (click & hold when you use a mouse device)

Videowall: This setting is for large multimonitor setups. When you have a 2x2 display setup the seams between displays interfere with some items on the screen. e.g. the horizontal display seam (Horizontal centre line) is in the same place as the Swipe-menu, Coverflow-menu, VideoJukebox-
menu, DrawonVideo-menu and OmniTimeline-menu.
With the Videowall orientation selected you can configure a vertical offset for the menus as described above.
Go to the configuration settings for each application to configure the vertical menu offset.

Metro menu with wide tiles and standard tiles.
•Media folder: Select your folder where your media is located for OmniWall. Read the notes below about setting up a folder structure.
Note: You have to prepare a folder structure before browsing for the media folder. OmniWall does setup itself by reading the category folders and the
content in each category. In the example below you select the folder MEDIA in the configurator.
Also look at the example from the demo configuration located here: My Documents\OmniTapps\Default Content\OmniWall\Media\
• Possible Omniwall folder structure:
My Documents\OmniTapps\Default Content 3.0\OmniWall\Media\
The folders Cars, Planes and Boats are the categories. The files in those folders are the mediafiles you can view on the screen. Media files can be Image
files (.JPG, .PNG) PDF files, Video files (.MOV, .MP4 rendered with a H264 codec), and websites.
Note: category folders can have the same sort of content (all image files, all pdf files) or mixed content.
42
OmniWall
Configuring related content
Since Omnitapps version 2.2 it is possible to show related content at a main item. (e.g. show all car variations to the main image “Car”) You can create a small
list docked to the main item. In this list you show your related content. Related content can be images, videos, PDF files and websites.
When you look at the Default Content example below you see an extra folder in the content folder “Scenery”. The photo “Scenery1.jpg” shows an extra menu
with all related content from the folder with the same name and ending with: _related. All items in the “Scenery_related” folder will be displayed in a sidemenu on the image Scenery1.jpg. In our demo content you see it at the stone bridge (Chinese style) When you click on a related item it will be displayed in
the main viewing area.
• Create Category thumbnails:
The OmniWall menu displays categories that are in fact folders. Folders do not have a default image file (thumbnail). However you can show your own
thumbnail images in the OmniWall menu. Place image files (.JPG) next to the category folders with exact the same name as the folder (uppercase sensitive). Like in the example above you should place image files in the MEDIA folder named Cars.jpg, Planes.jpg and Boats.jpg.
Add websites:
To add websites to the OmniWall menu you have to create a textfile (websites.txt) and place the text file in one of the category folders. Open the text file
and add website URL’s in this format: “ website http://www.websiteURL.com ”
Example: website http://www.multitouch-software.com
TIP: Omnitapps automatically generates a website thumbnail in the menu. You can set your own image and button title for each website
Example that defines the website (cnn.com) , the button image (flower.jpg) and button title “title”
website http://www.cnn.com#$#title#$#c:\images\flower.jpg
• Drawing folder: Select a folder where OmniWall saves all drawing image files. You can make drawings on top of all media types displayed in the MediaWall. When you save your drawing in the drawing menu (Save Symbol) the image file is saved into the predefined folder.
Note: When you select a folder within the chosen mediafolder (the category folders) the saved drawings are automatically added to the MediaWall menu
to be selected and viewed on the screen by other users.
• Enable drawing: When checked every item showed on the mediawall has a drawing pen button. When clicked a drawing menu is displayed.
• Enable selection menu, for requesting files: When checked an request area is displayed on the right side of the screen. This selection menu has the
same functionality as Omnirequest, but now you can also “request” Photos, videos and PDF files.
• Enable sorting of media on wall: When checked a button is displayed on the left side of the screen. Its function is to align all active media items in a
grid. All active media is placed horizontally and evenly spaced.
• Media has to open upright on the wall: When checked all media items opened from the menu will be positioned horizontally. (No rotation by default)
• Loop media while playing: When checked videos will keep playing in a loop. When the video ends it starts over again.
Note: Videos can always be closed by the system when you configured “Performance settings” (e.g. autoclose function or “maximum amount of videos on
the screen”) See “performance settings” below the next chapter.
• PDF rendering technique: OmniWall converts all PDF files at first startup to another format for fast viewing and handling. Here you select the rendering
method. Some PDF files containing lots of layers or vector graphics are best rendered with the setting “Bitmap 1”.
Vector: Leaves all vector shapes intact (Possible performance issues when scaling).
Bitmap 1: Converts graphics into bitmap (rasterize). Text stays vectorized.
Bitmap 2: Converts everything to bitmap (rasterize).

•Media folder: Select your folder where your media is located for OmniWall. Read the notes below about setting up a folder structure.
Note: You have to prepare a folder structure before browsing for the WEBSITES folder. OmniWall does setup itself by reading the category folders and the
content in each category. In the example below you select the folder WEBSITES in the configurator.
Also look at the example from the demo configuration located here: My Documents\OmniTapps\Default Content\OmniWebviewer\Websites
Possible website folder structure:
My Documents\OmniTapps\Default Config\OmniWebviewer\Websites
The folders “Corporate” and “Social” are categories. The text files in those folders hold the website URL info.
Note: You don’t always have to make categories. You can just place the “websites.txt” file in the WEBSITES folder (main folder).
Create Category thumbnails: The OmniWebViewer menu displays categories that are in fact folders. Folders do not have a default image file (thumbnail). However you can show your own thumbnail images in the OmniWebViewer menu. Place image files (.JPG) next to the category folders with exact
the same name as the folder (uppercase sensitive). Like in the example above you should place image files in the WEBSITES folder named Social.jpg and
Corporate.jpg.
Add websites: To add websites to the menu you have to create a textfile websites.txt) and place the text file in one of the category folders.
Open the text file and add website URL’s in this format: “ website http://www.websiteURL.com ”
Example:
website http://www.multitouch-software.com
website http://www.omnivision.nl

FAQ
I see a project selector window before Omnitapps starts but i want to start directly to my configuration?
Go to the configurator and uncheck the checkbox in the top bar “Enable project selector”
Can I have my own localized onscreen keyboard in Omnitapps?
In the Omnitapps configurator you can select a predefined localized keyboard. In Omnitapps you can choose English, Italian, French, Spanish, German Dutch,
Russian, Portugese, Norwegian, Romanian or Turkish onscreen keyboard.
Please contact us to request a new keyboard layout. We will consider your request for a next Omnitapps release.
Contact us by E-Mail: [email protected]
Can you customize (new features) one of the Omnitapps applications for me?
Your feedback is valuable to us. Please use the “Feedback button” in the configurator to point directly to our feedback webpage.
Here you can let us know how to make Omnitapps better. If you want to have a modified Omnitapps version with specific features to fit your needs, please
contact our sales department. You can send a E-Mail to [email protected] or call us at +31 (0)499-367607. (CET)
I’m sure I have a multitouch display but Omnitapps does not respond to my touch gestures.
Omnitapps does get its touch input from the Windows operating system. This is called “Native touch”. If you have a multitouch screen connected to your computer Windows must recognize this display as a multitouch input device. Some (multitouch)touchscreens are installed by plugging in a USB port (Plug&Play)
and some need to have a software driver installed. (Please refer to your touchscreen manual)
When Omnitapps does not respond to your touch inputs:
• The touchscreen is not recognized by Windows as a native (multi)touchscreen. You probably can’t draw 2 simultaneous lines in MS Paint. Please contact
your touchscreen hardware supplier for a possible solution.
• You have a touchscreen that uses a special technique where the touchscreen software driver “talks” directly to your windows applications and simulates
gestures as mouse events, or the software driver communicates with application by the TUIO protocol. This technique is not compatible with Omnitapps.
It’s not Windows 7 native touch compatible.
• Make sure you don’t have software drivers installed like from Wacom or other drawing tablet manufacturers. These “trick” windows believing the system is
multitouch enabled.
How do I check if my computer has a native multitouch multitouch device connected?
• Rightclick with your mouse on “My Computer” select “properties”. You see a list of your system specifications. You will see a item called “Pen & Touch”. There
you should read something like this “Touch input available with xx touchpoints” This indicates Windows native multitouch.
• Open the Windows application MS paint. You should be able to draw 2 simultaneous lines.
NOTE: You can test your multitouch capability with the TEST application in Omnitapps or visit this website: http://www.multitouch-touchscreens.com/
I want to control Omnitapps with my mouse, but Omnitapps does not respond to my mouseclicks.
If Windows has a multitouch screen device connected Omnitapps cannot be operated by a mouse device. First disconnect you multitouch screen USB cable
and restart Omnitapps. Note: Even when your multitouchscreen is disconnected it is possible that the installed software driver “tells” windows that it is still
multitouch enabled. (e.g. When a PQLabs driver is installed, Windows 7 always reports a multitouch device, even when the touchscreen hardware is disconnected.
Rightclick on “My Computer” select “properties”. You see a list of your system specifications. You will see an item called “Pen & Touch”. There you should read
something like this “Touch input available with xx touchpoints” This indicates Windows native multitouch. If this message is still displayed you have to shut
down, or uninstall the multitouch software driver before you can operate Omnitapps with a mouse device.
The standard onscreen keyboard pops up every time I enter a text field?
Omnitapps has a built-in onscreen keyboard, but Windows also has a onscreen keyboard. Bring up the Windows Onscreen keyboard, then select “Input Panel
Settings” , Deselect “for touch input, show the icon next to the textbox” and De-select “Use the input panel tab”. Click OK.
When i print from OmniRequest nothing happens?
Omnitapps uses Acrobat Reader X for print jobs. When you never used this program before you have to open the Acrobat Reader and accept their license
agreement first. You can find Acrobat Reader in your programs list.
After accepting the Adobe license agreement you can close the Reader and start using Omnitapps again.
When I create a new configuration it looks like the default demo content, why is that?
When you create a new configuration with the configurator [CREATE] button a new folder is created. Omnitapps cannot work if every setting would be left
blank. That’s why every new configuration is filled with Default content. This is a good starting point for you to begin.
Can I display Adobe Flash objects in the MediaWall?
No, this is not possible. However, if you are the developer of the Flash object you can call use to discuss a custom integration in Omnitapps.
50
FAQ
Why is my video not displayed?
• You did not place the videos in the right folder. Check the configurator what video folder you have chosen.
• Your video is not a Omnitapps compatible video file. Omnitapps can handle videos that are rendered with a H264 codec, usually resulting in .MOV, .FLV,
.F4V or .MP4 files. More info about H264 video: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/devices/articles/mobile_video_encoding.edu.html
Why it takes a long time loading Omnirequest or Mediawall containing large, or many PDF files?
When Omnitapps first starts a application that has PDF files to be viewed, it converts the PDF file into another object to be used in Omnitapps.
You don’t see this process happening, but you can however notice that it takes some time before a PDF thumbnail and file a visible in the application.
When you have a lot of PDF files (e.g. OmniRequest) it takes some time to convert all PDF files. This process only takes place once.
Not all content of my configured website in OmniMediawall or OmniWebviewer is shown.
Omnitapps cannot display iFrames. Please contact the website developer for a possible solution.
How do I transfer my Omnitapps license to another computer?
When you have a licensened Omnitapps, goto the configurator and click on the button “Deactivate License”. Then you also have the option to save the license
number in a text file on your desktop. Now you can re-use your license key to your new computer.
Note: While deactivating your license you must have an active internet connection.
I uninstalled Omnitapps but forgot to deactivate the licensekey.
You can re-install Omnitapps (your license data is still saved on the computer) and then deactivate again in the configurator.
While entering my licensekey the system tells me the code is “incorrect”.
Make sure you entered the whole key, thus including the dashes “-”.
You can also copy/paste your code into the textfield.
When it keeps rejecting, please contact us to check our activation server. (it’s possible that there was already another activation before on this machine)
When I start an application I only see a white screen with home buttons in the corners.
This can have several causes. In basic Omnitapps cannot read the description file that belongs to that application. This can be caused by sudden power loss of
the computer, misconfiguration, manual editing of the XML description file (went wrong) or when you made changes to the application folder structure.
Omnitapps replaces an application when it is missing. You can delete the application folder which has the white screen in your
//my documents/omnitapps/yourprojectname folder (Never delete anything in the program files folder)
When Omnitapps is restarted it detects the missing application and copies a new one from its own storage. It is filled with default content.
You also see white screens when did not use the EXPORT function in the configurator to transfer content from computer 1 to computer 2.
On computer 1 all application description files (XML) have paths that point to local folders of computer 1. When you just copy your project folder to computer
2 all paths are problably wrong. By using the EXPORT function, Omnitapps makes a copy of the current project folder and modifies those unique paths that
belong to computer 1.
When starting Omnitapps the loading process stops at a certain point. ( displays the current task )
This is a rare behavior and only happens on systems that had a previous Beta version of Omnitapps or happens when there was previous Omnitapps version
that was uninstalled incorrectly.
Uninstall Omnitapps again, and also delete all Omnivision and Omnitapps folders in //My documents/ and //c:/program files/ (32bit Windows os)
//c:/program files(X86) (64 bit Windows os)
Then reinstall the latest version of Omnitapps. Don’t forget to backup your own project folders because with this method the whole projects folder is deleted.
Omnitapps is displayed upside down.
Omnitapps is displayed in the same direction as the Windows interface. You can however use the “rotation buttons” to rotate each application while it’s running till you go back to the menu.
If you want to permanent show Omnitapps in another direction you can change the orientation of Windows. Go to your display properties and change to
“Landscape Flipped” (means rotated by 180 degrees)
