SDC Qualifier Event prior to the series
This event will take place on Tuesday
July 10 at the Ice Palace, West Edmonton Mall. The time will be announced
shortly. There will be three judges. Since
this is a qualifying round similar to the
Provincial Closed Selection Meets, these
judges will be different from the panel
judging the Canadian Championship.
Three dancers from each of the six age
groups will win a spot to compete in the
Canadian Inter Provincial Championships
being held July 13, 2012. Although no
awards will be given at this qualifying
event the results of each dance will be
announced. Certificates will be presented
to the 18 qualifiers.
There will be 18 sashes for the qualifiers
to wear in the Opening Ceremonies and
at the banquet.
On-line registration will be available for
this event. Watch the ScotDance Canada
website and face book page for more
details.

Take the Journey Back 10, 20, 30 and 40 years
The championship series did not exist in 1972. The Board had not
approved a closed national championship for Canada. ScotDance Canada was not in existence until many years later.
The high profile championship that drew dancers from across the
country was the Inter-Continental Championship held in August at
the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto.
Jumping for joy in this “newspaper clip” are the 1972 Manitoba qualifiers Jennifer Paterson, Cheryl Rafter (current Vice President of ScotDance Canada) and Glenda Bergner.
In 2002, city of Vancouver British Columbia, the Canadian Champions were:
Colleen Rintamaki (ON), Christine Henderson (BC),
Chantal Watt (ON), Stephanie Wilson (BC), Christina
Maas (AB), Caitlin Wilson (BC).
