2011 Golf Outing. I hope you all had a wonderful time at the fantastic Harbor Links Golf
Course and enjoyed the impeccable service and catering they provide. We take great pride in
bringing you the best possible experience when you choose to come out and join us at our
event.
Your support goes a long way in helping the Nassau County Deputy Sheriffs Benevolent Association in our efforts to support our membership and provide assistance to our communities.
This year your support will allow us to make a generous donation to a wonderful charity, St.
Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude is the only pediatric specialty cancer center
funded by the National Cancer Institute and the only private cancer center in the United States
committed to caring for and supporting children with cancer regardless of the family’s financial or healthcare resources. You can find out more about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
I would also like to say a special thank you to our 2011 Man of The Year, Hempstead Town
Councilman Gary Hudes. Gary is a longtime friend of the NCDSBA and has assisted us over
the years in too many ways to list here. Gary’s commitment and dedication to his family and
friends, our organization, his customers at Gennaro Jewelers and all of those he represents and
serves in the Town of Hempstead, sends a clear message about the type of man Gary is. So
because of the friend you are we say congratulations Gary!

Dear Friends of St. Jude,
On behalf of the patients and their families at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, I would like to thank the Nassau
County Deputy Sheriff’s Benevolent Association for their
support at the 2011 Golf Tournament.
The mission of St. Jude is to find cures for childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and
treatment. St. Jude treats children without regard to race,
religion, creed or ability to pay. ALSAC/St. Jude, the fundraising arm, covers all costs not covered by insurance for
medical treatment rendered at St. Jude. Families without
insurance are never asked to pay.
As you may know, the money raised for St. Jude goes directly to the Hospital to keep research labs operating and
to treat children from all over the world. Because of your
help, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will receive
much needed funds to ensure that one day there will be a
cure for cancer, AIDS, and other terrible diseases that
threaten the lives of children.
You are certainly making a difference in the lives of the
children at St. Jude. Thank you again for your support.

Hempstead Town Councilman Gary Hudes of Levittown has represented the
Town of Hempstead's Sixth Councilmanic District for more than 11 years.
Hempstead Town Councilman Gary Hudes of Levittown has represented
the Town of Hempstead's Sixth Councilmanic District for more than 11 years.
Deeply committed to quality of life issues, Mr. Hudes has spearheaded
legislation to increase fines imposed upon graffiti vandals caught destroying
property, pushed for the establishment of the Nassau County Parking Violations
Bureau, created the “lock up law” on spray paints commonly used by graffiti vandals and to limit the age (to 18) at which spray paints and wide-tipped magic
markers can be purchased. In addition, he initiated the S.L.O.W (Speed Limit
Odometer Warning) Program which helps to reduce the amount of cars speeding
down our local streets. He has served as Chairman of the Nassau County Graffiti
Task Force for 15 years, leading numerous law enforcement agencies in the effort
to drastically reduce the incidences of graffiti vandalism. In this regard, he has
directed the cleanup of more than 4,000 locations.
Owner and president of Gennaro Jewelers Inc. in Bellmore Village, Gary Hudes has devoted a great
deal of his time to law enforcement. As one of the largest and most extensive manufacturers of law enforcement emblematic jewelry, Gary has an extremely close relationship with law enforcement agencies across the
country and is an ongoing contributor to endless law enforcement fundraisers and events. He has himself,
spearheaded many fundraising efforts that benefit law enforcement personnel and their families.
Councilman Hudes' efforts on behalf of the community have been recognized with numerous awards
and honors, including being named Year 2000 "Small Businessperson of the Year" by the Nassau Council of
Chambers of Commerce; "Man of the Year" and then Honorary Life Member by the Nassau County Shields;
"Man of the Year" by the School for Language and Communication Development; "Citizen of the Year" by
the Bellmore Knights of Columbus; and "Small Businessman of the Year" by the Chamber of Commerce of
the Bellmores. In addition, Mr. Hudes has received awards from the Vietnam Veterans of America, Nassau
County PBA, New York State Police PBA, the Nassau Police Conference, Nassau County Detectives Association and the Bellmore Kiwanis Club. He is an "Honorary Life Member" of the Levittown PTA, an
"Honorary Member" of Levittown Fire Department and "Honorary Member" of the Nassau County Detectives Association. Other honors include receiving the Nassau County Police Commissioner's Award for Outstanding Contributions to Community Safety. In August 2008, Councilman Hudes was selected as an honoree
by the New York State Trooper PBA Signal 30 Benefit Fund. He is an Honorary Member of the New York
State Police Police PBA, The Nassau County Detective’s Assn. and the Nassau County Deputy Sheriff’s
Assn. In 2010 Councilman Gary Hudes was selected to be the Grand Marshal for the Levittown L.E.A.D.D.
(Levittown Education Against Destructive Decisions) Annual Walk. The Councilman has served as New
York State Vice Chairman of the TOYS FOR TOTS program for the last 10 years. Councilman Hudes is the
recipient of the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores for his
profound positive effect on the Chamber and the community.
Councilman Hudes represents the residents of the Sixth Councilmanic District of the Town of Hempstead which includes East Meadow, Levittown, Plainedge, Salisbury and portions of Bethpage, North Bellmore, North Merrick, Seaford and Wantagh.
