Steve “KNOCKS IT OUT” - Northwood University
N O R T H W O O D U N I V E R S I T Y Steve “KNOCKS IT OUT” as an intern for the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Las Vegas! S T U D E N T P R O F I L E Steve Cronk, a junior from St. Charles High School came to Northwood University to study Entrepreneurship. Since then, he has enjoyed learning all he can about how different businesses operate. Because he considers himself independent and self-motivated (both inherent traits of entrepreneurs), Steve knew that before he entered his junior year his next step would be to find the “ultimate” internship—and that’s exactly what he did! His eagerness to learn and his personal drive have now taken him all the way to Las Vegas, Nevada for an exciting internship as a New Media Marketing Intern with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)! Steve’s responsibilities included supplying content on the UFC’s website, Facebook, and Twitter pages. He researched potential international markets, and participated in meetings with executives to determine future new media strategies. One of the most exciting things he has experienced is escorting the media at UFC events and learning how the organization functions as a whole. Steve learned early on in his college career that it was “his responsibility to learn.” Steve says, “I have been approaching school this way ever since, and I’ve been able to take a lot more out of my education.” His advice for Northwood students, “Take the initiative to learn outside of the classroom. By joining a team or helping put together an event, you meet great people and learn skills that you would otherwise never develop. Northwood has given me every opportunity outside the classroom to learn the necessary skills to help me land the UFC internship!” Steve with UFC Octagon Girl, Arianny Celeste. The Octagon.
