There is a great deal happening as we plan for the end of the school year and make plans for 2015. We have our Christmas Carols Festival to look forward to and the Year 6 Graduation. ST MARY MACKILLOP PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER NO 33 TUESDAY 11 NOVEMBER 2014 ST MARY MACKILLOP PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER NO 33 TUESDAY 11 NOVEMBER 2014 ‘Carnevale Day’-Friday 14th November Money and Form Must Be Handed In By Today 11th November Dear Parents/ Carers Throughout the Term the students have been immersed in the traditional Italian celebration, theme of and characters associated with ‘Carnevale.’ Throughout the unit the students have developed an awareness and appreciation of the cultural aspects of this celebration in Italy. They have learnt about origins, customs, theatrical styles and costumes associated with the festival. To enrich their experience, we have organized a ‘Carnevale Day’ on Friday the 14th of November where students will be encouraged to participate and reflect on Italian, Drama and Art related activities. Students from each year level will view a performance called “Mangia banane” by the Comica Variety Productions. We encourage all students to dress up! For example, Italian colours (green, white and red) Carnevale characters (Arlecchino, Colombina, Pantalone, Dottor Balanzone and Pulcinella) Italian sporting champions (Del Piero and Francesco Totti), anything associated with Italy and/or wear your own Carnevale mask. Finally to celebrate the day we have a ‘Gelati Van’ coming to the school and students will be encouraged to use the Italian language. Both gelati and soft serve will be available at a cost of $2.50 per child. We would appreciate that parents/guardians discuss whether your child would prefer a gelati or soft serve. Please note, all gelati flavours may contain traces of nuts. Below is a form that needs to be filled and sent back to the school by Tuesday 11th November. Please send the form back in a clearly labeled envelope with your child’s name, class and the correct money. Please don’t hesitate to contact me, if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your anticipated support.
