CASINO RAMA COMMUNITY WELLNESS GUIDELINES
CASINO RAMA COMMUNITY WELLNESS GUIDELINES
Who Can Apply
Community
Wellness
Program
Organizations, committees, agencies or other non-profit groups can apply. You do not
need to be registered as a charitable organization with Revenue Canada or incorporated
as a not-for-profit in Ontario. Special consideration is given to groups involved in a partnership
of some kind, especially if this is the first time they have been part of a joint project. You must
be able to demonstrate that your work primarily contributes to community wellness in Simcoe County,
especially in the Orillia area.
What We Will Fund
• Projects involving seniors, women, families and First Nations people
• One-time or time-limited projects that will have a lasting effect on the wellness of the community including
centennial projects or Volunteer appreciation events
• Board or staff training development or long-term planning sessions that are not covered by other funders
• Projects from off-reserve aboriginal groups with no access to Casino Rama Revenue Sharing Dollars
Preference will be given to projects that:
•Build community harmony through networking, partnering and working together
• Think outside the box and come up with creative ways to problem-solve and work together
towards a common goal or project that will improve the lives of residents of Simcoe County
• Have a positive impact on the community, including long-term, spin-off benefits
• Are sustainable in the future without continuing sponsorship by Casino Rama
guidelines
Please note that meeting these funding criteria does not in itself guarantee approval. Due to high
demand for funds, Casino Rama is unable to support all projects, no matter how worthy.

• Organizations, events or activities that focus on people under nineteen years of age (minors)
• Individual or personal needs
• For-profit organizations or businesses
• Organizations or activities that are religious or political in nature

• New capital projects and equipment (vehicles, office furniture, computers)
• Medical research, health or diagnostic equipment
• Provincially-based universities, colleges, schools or hospitals, unless they are part of a
community-based collaborative
• Events after the fact
• Projects of First Nations communities with access to Casino Rama Revenue Sharing Dollars
• Municipal projects, unless they clearly fall with Casino Rama’s criteria and are part of a
community-based collaborative
• Organizations that work with or assist people primarily beyond Simcoe County (excluding
aboriginal groups with no access to Casino Rama Revenue Sharing dollars)
• National or provincial organizations whose local chapters receive Casino Rama support
• Events or organizations through third-party fund-raisers

Application Process and Deadlines
• Casino Rama’s Community Wellness Committee meets four times per year: mid-May, mid-August,
mid-November and mid-February. To be considered at one of these meetings, applications must be
received by the Corporate Affairs Department by the last business day of the previous month.
The deadline for the May meeting, for example, is the last business day of April.
• If an application is received too late for one meeting, it will be carried over for consideration at the following meeting (three months later), unless the event has already passed.
•Unsuccessful applicants are notified by letter
• Successful applicants are notified by phone or email within two weeks of each committee meeting
