Watershed Cabins are a collection of luxury rental log cabins in the Great Smoky Mountains
of North Carolina. Conveniently located near the Nantahala River, Fontana Lake, Bryson
City, the Cherokee Indian Reservation & Harrah's casino, the Tsali mountain biking trails
and the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, we provide vacation rentals (including lakefront [4]
, motorcycle friendly [5], or other unique lodging) for your next Smoky Mountains
vacation. If you are a couple looking to just relax, every single cabin has a hot tub. Or
perhaps you have a large group seeking the excitement of whitewater rafting [6], mountain biking
[7], horseback riding, or motorcycling at "Deal's Gap." [5] Whether you come to play hard or take it
easy, roughing it has never been so luxurious.

Tim Goodwin, Founder
Watershed Cabins was founded in 1998 (called "Nantahala Mountaintop Cabins" at the time).
The first cabin (Rocky View [8]) was built with the idea of enjoying the cabin part-time as a personal
vacation home and renting it out to others the rest of the time. Before this first cabin was even
completed, the growth potential of the area became evident and expansion plans were in the works.
It became immediately apparent that many of the regular outdoor enthusiasts who were coming up for mountain biking, hiking, rafting, and all the great things in the area, were longing for a better place to stay. The plan
for providing a more luxury level rental was becoming a proven winner, and the rest is history.
The idea took off and soon private owners were knocking on the door asking Watershed to manage their rental cabins. This growth was combined with the purchase of 50 acres at the intersection of Needmore Road and
Highway 74 (sort of the "gateway" to the most popular outdoor attractions because the property sits where the road splits to go to either the Nantahala River or to the Tsali mountain bike trails), and the company started
looking like what it is today: a well-established and prominent vacation rental management company with an excellent staff and commitment to quality.
Watershed Resort [9]
In 2010, finishing touches on our core property were complete, and we branded this resort-like community as the property. There's no swimming pool or clubhouse
(that's not what the mountain environment demands), but the Watershed Resort property does have a central community area with bocce ball, firepit, yard games and a log-zebo with a bedswing perched

This property also is home to our popular flavors of industrial-modern styling may appeal to those wanting some urban influence as opposed to traditional log home styling.
In addition to the Resort property, the collection of Watershed Cabins includes off-site cabins ranging from custom, hand-crafted, luxury log homes to "value" cabins. There's a unit for everyone's budget, and they all have
a hot tub, comfortable furnishings, and the same level of cleanliness and quality.
Tim Goodwin is the sole owner of the company now and still operates it from Atlanta, but commutes as needed to the mountains. You can sometimes reach him answering the reservations lines or perhaps see him tossing
the cornhole bags with friends at the Wateshed Resort, but it's the incredible Watershed staff that will likely be what impresses you. Come see us at Watershed...roughing it has never been so luxurious.
