A LEGEND
WAS BORN
He follows hot on the heels of the two
Italian champions, down the streets of
Ligurian coast.
Olivieri winks at Girardengo and pedals
harder to leave the young boy behind,
but he does not give up and keeps
the pace of the two professionals.
This tenacity conquers Oliviero and
convinces him to stop at Celle Ligure, near
the haberdasher of his parents, to then ask
his father Luigi to give him custody of the
child to train him and make him a champion.
This begins a lifelong mentor-ship with Olivieri, a trainer and friend
for Gepin’s whole life and sports career.
Soon after, Giuseppe leaves the curvy streets
of the Ligurian coast between Varazze
and Savona, to conquer professional cycling. “Giuseppe Olmo achieves the most stunning
victory of his whole career in a damned
Milano-Sanremo race, battled at the devilish
rhythm of 39 kilometers per hour.”

On 20th of March 1938, the “Gazzetta
della Domenica” celebrated the last great
feat of Giuseppe Olmo.
In spite of all initial predictions, he conquers
the second “Classicissima di Primavera”
ahead of Favalli, Bovet, Galateau, Mallet, Bini
and the Bartali that would go on to write the
most beautiful pages in the history of world
road cycling together with Coppi. Olmo Giuseppe, known as Gepin, class of 1911
from Celle Ligure, is only thirteen
when heading back from school on the saddle
of his bike, his books fastened to the frame,
he crosses paths with Girardengo and Olivieri
in training.

IN 1935, HE BECOMES A LEGEND BY DEMOLISHING
THE HOUR RECORD ON TRACK OF THE FRENCHMAN
RICHARD, SETTING THE NEW RECORD OF 45’090 KM
AT VELODROMO VIGORELLI IN MILAN, FIRST IN
HISTORY TO BREAK THE WALL OF 45 KILOMETERS. Two Milano-Sanremo, twenty stage victories
at Giro d’Italia from 1934 to 1936 and second
on the general ranking, only behind Bartali in 1936. Conquest of the UCI Road World
Championship in 1936 and Track in 1940,
and a gold metal for Men’s team time trial
at Los Angeles Olympic Games make him one
of the most successful cyclists in Italian history.
The Milano-Sanremo in ’38, conquered
epically without a moment rest, through
breaks, reunifications and new incredible
breakaways that mark the end of Gepin as an
athlete and the beginning of Giuseppe Olmo,
as an entrepreneur. In Celle Ligure, in 1939,
Olmo Biciclette is founded by Giuseppe with
his brothers Franco, Giovanni e Michele. 4

models dedicated to amateur cycling
and urban mobility, expanding the selection
until it covers the whole range of bike uses. Celle Ligure is the pulsating heart of Gepin’s
business activity, through its developing
workshops pass all the most important
innovations in materials applied
to the frame: from metal alloys, protagonists
of the 80’s, to refined aluminum, titanium
and monochrome carbon frames, which assert
themselves in the last decades
of production, Olmo is pushing the research
on road, off-road and track performance
to its maximum level. Who better than Gepin would have known
the needs of professional cyclists?

In a few years, the company in Celle Ligure
begins to produce the most performing
and technically advanced competition
bicycle of the time, ready to be brought to
triumph by professionals or to cut through
mountain passes and streets of the peninsula
by adventuring amateurs and demanding
enthusiasts. From 1940 onwards, Olmo becomes one
of the most prestigious Italian brands
for bikes, demanding an international visibility
and an exceptional reputation.
This along with the respect
for Gepin’s accomplishments, constitutes
today, the true patrimony of the brand.
Olmo flanks its competitions frames
by producing progressively more flexible
Olmo signed road, roadster and fast roadster
bikes; from men’s, women’s and children’s
bikes, to foldable ones - the legendary Ondina
became an icon of the 60’s - and mountain
bikes, among the first to appear on streets
and Italian paths during the middle of the 80’s. 7

In the 2000’s, the bicycle was reborn thanks
to the discovery and reevaluation of the
bike as a privileged means of transport in
cities. Practical, fast and eco-friendly: Olmo
innovated city bikes, the trait d’union between
competition bikes’ charm of the 80’s and the
need of urban mobility that does not renounce
the style and production philosophy of Olmo. The top models equipped professional
teams across the world, testimony to the
insoluble bond that connects Gepin the
champion before with the entrepreneur after
which linked to the world of competitions,
his most prestigious moment is marked as

the technical sponsor of Oscar Freire, Team
Vitalicio Seguros, and the conquest of the
road world championship in Verona, in 1999. Today Olmo is an international brand
that boasts collaborations with the best
technical partners worldwide to put
in the hands of its users a variety of products
deeply renewed, on both the technological
and design side, retaining its sports DNA
and validating its unique Italian style.
The style that about a century ago, Giuseppe
was consecrated into world cycling history, as

The japanese carbon fiber (Manufacturer: Toray) 24 / 30 / 36 T worked
by Sky Flex (North Korea) to the specifications of the Olmo company
and stratified according to the decades of experience of Olmo’s racing
department.
The special compound designed with a composition which varies depending
on the area of application, and reinforced in the areas of maximum stress, gives
the finished frame excellent mechanical characteristics for those who want a
product that is reliable and at the same time provides excellent power transfer.

Double thickness aluminum alloy alu 6063/OL high stiffness, tempered
in neutral solution at TT4, normalized to eliminate any excessive crystalline
tensions.

The application of high-performance composite materials technology
and special graphite fiber/epoxy, which is the same material system apply
on the structures of Aeronautics, Aerospace (A380 & B787/B777)

Advanced Bladder Moulding with PU shell process.
Riding Performance: Comfortable, Good Controllability and Stability.
Excellent power transfer and low fatigue is achieved and maximized

Buying a Giuseppe Olmo S.p.A. bicycle
gives you the assurance of a 2 year
guarantee on the frame (12 months for
chromed parts and painting).
Component parts are guaranteed
separately by the manufacturers and
covered by their own guarantee.
The guarantee comes into effect from
the date of purchase, only if processed
through an official dealer.
The parts resulting defective are replaced
or repaired by Giuseppe Olmo S.p.A.
only if the frame underwent standard
use conditions. Transport freights are on
costumer’s charge. The fulfillment of the
warranty exists only with a normal use
of the bicycle. Although the essential
characteristics remain the same, we
reserve the right to make any technical
or accessory variations to any of the
models in the catalogue. The colors of the
bicycles in this catalogue may vary as they
are applied to different materials.
