This was a time to reflect on the changes of our community over the past century. The Library is fortunate enough to have a vast collection of historical information of The Pas and the surrounding area. Former residents and visitors to the community came to the Library to walk down memory lane, flipping through our old photo albums, and chuckling over yearbook photos. Although the Library has changed over the years, our purpose has remained constant: “to select, organize, preserve and make freely and easily available a variety of materials, which will aid in the pursuit of education, information, research, recreation and in the creative use of leisure time. The goal of the library is the maximum use of its collection by the greatest number of people. “ (The Pas Regional Library Constitution, 2004). In tandem with the preservation and presentation of local history is our desire to promote literacy and learning in a fun and unique way. We strive to provide materials and programs that are up-to-date and interesting for the residents of The Pas and the Regional Municipality of Kelsey and surrounding area. Programs that we present are many and varied, from our popular Haunted Twilight Theatre in October, our adult book club and astronomy club, to our children’s art programs, events and story times. It would be impossible to provide these excellent services to our patrons without the generous support of our sponsors and volunteers. Thank you to all of our partners and patrons for making The Pas Regional Library’s events and programs such a success, and we look forward to serving you for at least another 100 years! Theatre 53 Youth Fran & Amelia Cooper Caroline Hossfeld The Pas Arts Council 21 The Pas Regional Library held its annual summer reading program from July 9-13. The week was filled with fun and excitement as 40 children between the ages of 5-12 came to play games, read books and have a great time. The theme of the TD Summer Reading Program was imagination, and what better to do than have a trip around the world using your imagination! Pages Lauren Laninga and Brenden Buchko took the children to Australia, Europe, Space, and Mexico. Throughout the week the children had a blast doing crafts, playing games and of course, reading books. The week ended with a water balloon fight and a fiesta, complete with a piñata, nachos and sombreros!
