2016 winter newsletter - Copper T Warmblood Stables

Finally, I have a few minutes to share
some of the the “goings on” at
Copper T. Things are going great here
at Copper T with lots going on in our
unseasonably warm fall. I hope you
enjoy reading!
Some of you know Mom had a bad
accident in the fall of 2014, but has
completely recovered. The most
difficult thing has been keeping her
from overworking herself! I have
been fortunate to have people at the
farm step up and really help, and
have recently hired a part time
person, Maureen Wilson a good
friend and neighbour to do some
chores around the yard.
Other
good news regarding Mom was her sucessful sale of RaRumba CT to a Trainer in Calgary. He subsequently
traveled to California and B.C. where he enjoyed showing at a higher level. The Trainer had so many offers on
RaRumba CT that she eventually gave in and re-sold him.
As she put it, she “couldn’t say no to this good an offer!”
RaRumba was featured in a Calgary paper while showing at
Anderson Ranch this summer, pic shown above.
Frasier CT is following in Ra-Rumba’s footsteps and is
currently in a sales barn with Andrea Harris in Calgary
training at 1.2 and being developed as a potential
equitation horse. We had a great summer season with
Shawna Partington riding him in the 1.1 M jumpers at
Ebon. (see Frasier on left) Thank you Holly Marshall
Franklin for getting him there! That was a fun trip!
Our next project horse is Boomer, a 16.1 hand high
Banderas Gelding; another horse out of Mazurka, and he is
proving to be quite an athlete, but in a smaller package than
Frasier and Ra-Rumba. Started in the winter of 2015 and
over fences in the fall, we hope to get Boomer to some
shows this spring and summer. Thanks to Shawna Partington
for taking him in his over fences journey and Ashlyn
Weninger for getting him going English for us! See picture

In January, Penny Yeager and I went to the Alberta Horse Owners and Conference in Red Deer Alberta. As
usual it was a facinating trip full of new products, training and husbandry trends in Equine care. Rebecca,
Becky, Brigitte, Sarah and her parents all met up at Spruce Meadows which was also a lot of fun, and of
course, inspiring! We even saw Ra-Rumba CT competing there! Copper T participated in a few shows this
summer, including Signs of Summer at Willow Ridge, Ebon’s Trophy Show, Mid Summer Masters, and the
Saskatoon Classic, a new show hosted by Ebon Stables. We also hosted several Zuzana Schrammova
Biomechanics Riding Clinics thoughout the winter, spring and summer.
Recently we introduced the “Introduction to Riding” program, a safe and fun way to introduce children as
young as 6, to riding. It is a lot of fun, and the kids had a wonderful time with their favourite horses. Next
session will take place in April 2016. Please book ahead, this program has a wait list and requires extra help to
deliver.

We hosted our first ever Horse Show in 2015. It was mostly a “Fun Show” with riders from our own barn, but it
gave everyone a chance to experience the show environment and practice riding and preparing for future off
site events. It started off rainy, but the weather improved as the day wore on, and we had a successful event!

Please help me is welcoming new boarder Rebekah Esau! She
brings with her a super nice chestnut mare Royal Sherri who
has gone both english and western and based on our few
lessons loves to jump!!! Photos to follow.
Some of you may be aware that Patches has found a new
home. She now lives with a Grandmother wanting to provide a
pony for her granchildren! Vanilla is still with us, and Laurie
has recently purchased a new horse, a lovely grey mare named
Valkaryie. Her future plans are to jump with her new horse,
and has offered Vanilla for sale. Pictures of Valkarie coming
soon.
You all know Katyrna, but she recently moved her horse Geo
(pic left) to the stable. We enjoy his cool personality! What a
boy, and if you can get to the barn early enough, you can even
see
her
ride!
Please help me in welcoming Tucker, a 15.1 Registered Paint gelding to our school
horse program. He has a super sweet nature, and his favourite thing besides eating
is being rubbed above his eyes. He is making an excellent addition to the program.
Tucker is not his registered name; we won’t mention that, haha. (Picture bottom
right)
Later this summer the Corrigan family purchased Troy from Ace Ranch in Regina.
What a great guy he is! They are having a wonderful time with him; you just can’t
wipe the smiles off those kids!!! (Picture above)
Talia, as you may recall purchased a fabulous hunter this past winter MJ Kelly from
MJ Farms in Old’s Alberta and had a great summer and fall show season, and has
now moved to Ebon Stables where they are better equipped to get her to the many
out of town shows Talia wishes to challenge. She and Kelly will be missed but we
will see them when we go to shows and can catch up then. See pic of her and her

A big congratulations goes out to the Weber
Family on their purchase of Junebug CT from
Val. Wren Weber has been leasing her for
several months and has a special relationship
with that horse! They make a great pair and I
am very excited for their journey together!
Wren’s Mom surprised her by decorating the
horse stall and tied a big bow on Junebug , so
when Wren came into the barn that night she
found “Merry
Christmas Wren”
on the stall and
Junebug waiting
inside. It was quite a special moment. Her Grandmother from B.C. is the one who actually
purchased the horse for Wren, but the entire family has joined in with the celebration.
Watch out for her at the shows!!!
Remember the arena pigeons? Well, thanks to the help of Christy Morrissey, shown here,
bottom left, and Becky Corrigan (new owner of Troy) we have liberated them, humanely. 
My son Jim had an adventurous summer, travelling to Uncle Joe and Aunt Toni Walter’s
home in Australia. They showed him around and really treated him to the sights. Thank you
for being such amazing hosts and making me not worry too much, haha! He recently started
University so we haven’t seen much of him around the barn lately. He is hard at work in the
Kinesiology program and when he has time he comes out to help in the barn. (Grad pic of us

of progress around the barn
with our riders and boarders.

this newsletter. Very exciting!
