He is risen indeed!“ Many Christians throughout the world greet one another with these words throughout this octave of Easter, which ends today. Each second Sunday of Easter we hear the resurrection appearance of Jesus to his apostles on that first day of the week, that first Easter. Since 2000, the Catholic Church throughout the world has been celebrating the great gift called Divine Mercy, given by Jesus to an obscure Polish nun. When St. John Paul II canonized Sr. Faustina, he said it was the greatest day of his pontificate. He had a deep devotion to the mercy of God and knew that only God’s mercy could change the world by changing people’s hearts. Please join us for two special events to mark this great gift. At 1 PM downtown in the Gathering Space, Mary Harper, one of the pilgrims who went with us last October on pilgrimage will present a slideshow focused especially on the Divine Mercy and Saint John Paul II. Then, from 2 to 3 PM, Deacon Ronnie will lead us in a Holy Hour of Divine Mercy, ending with benediction. During this extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, what wonderful gifts these are to us. I hope you can come. Lastly, a word of thanks to all of those who participated in the Easter Triduum on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday. Special thanks to all those who helped in any way so that we could celebrate prayerfully and enter deeply into the mystery of God’s divine mercy and love in Jesus Christ. In the Risen Christ, I love you, 1 www.saintmichaelparish.org PLEASE PRAY FOR: Elke Villegas Justin Games Virgil & Joan Hamblin Lisa Zander Jolane Zander Bernice Andry Phil Weigand Ed Larson Cindy Larson Doris Tobin Jan Putnam Ray Nikula Jo Anne Nortrup June Hendrick Teresa LaBouff family Paulette Kavonian Rosanne Burns Walter Sears Barbara Hojem Be Tran Billy Hylton Tonya Hylton Charles Weber Warren & Jean Clare Michael Currall & Family Jean O’Gorman Eileen Hood Mike Prankard Shirley Montante Jim Dingman Sidney Ritter The Keith Family Robert Brown Elizabeth Magee Brin Kearney Chi & Lan Nguyen Gordan Dvorak Michael Marsh Gisellie Ridgment Phil Chavez Phil Wayt Paulie Moore Amy Novak MASS SCHEDULE & INTENTIONS Clyde Canida Pat Alexander Lynda Sipes Rebecca Montreuil Keith Kennedy June Francis Justin Lazara The Bentzingers Pat O’Neill Julie Larson Betty & Bruce Davidson Gene Putscher Roy Proctor Judy Parent Brian Cabreros Marissa McGoldrick Joey Lynn Benck John McKillip Ken Zarker Carmen McHugh Gerri Brassfield Dioscoro T. As one facilitator put it, “My wife and I see the short and long term value. To me, small group is like personal prayer, which is sort of like taking medicine for a chronic ailment. One doesn’t necessarily feel better right away, but you do over time. And you notice that you don’t do well if you quit taking the medicine. Though small group is also more fun than taking medicine.” Check for open small groups on our website under learn/small groups. Contact: Diane Steinbrecher | [email protected] Spring Work Party On Saturday April 9th from 9 am - 12 pm, we’re hosting a landscape work party. The goal is to complete some much needed spring cleanup of our downtown flower beds. Last summer’s extended heat caused a significant die-off of plant materials that we want to replace along with other beautification projects. Please bring rakes, shovels, gloves, and any other tools you may think you will need. We will supply the snacks and drinks. This will be a great way to meet new people and make some new friends! St. Vincent de Paul Collection Next Week Easter blessings to you all! As we rejoice in the risen Christ, we remember that Jesus died for us, and for all of our sisters and brothers who struggle to keep a roof over their heads, keep their utilities turned on, or keep a supply of necessary prescription drugs. Your generous donations make it possible for the St. Vincent de Paul Society to help our neighbors pay for these and other necessities. Our monthly collection is next week, the second weekend of the month. Thank you for your faithful support. At last, after waiting for months, we got all the necessary permissions. This time I really mean to say all the permissions. The final permission was to cut down the trees. We got it and we already cut down the trees and started to clear the land. Here one needs to have the gift of patience. Well, I do not regret the delay. The Lord has his own way. Now the weather conditions are good. Now, on Tuesday, the city administration will send people to demarcate our approach road to the property. Once the approach road is ready, we can bring in heavy machinery to the construction site. As we start our work, I will keep updating you with all the news regarding the construction. Thank you very much for praying for us and our small Catholic community. As you celebrate Easter, where Christ showed us His endless love by giving His life to wash away our sins, I wish for you all the good things in life and most of all the blessings of God for you and your families.
