ATELIER FORNASETTI
Ogni oggetto, tratto dall’archivio storico di Piero Fornasetti e prodotto nell’Atelier a Milano, viene interamente eseguito a mano con
tecniche esclusivamente artigianali. Queste particolari caratteristiche manuali ne determinano la singolarità e ne elevano il pregio sino
a farne un vero “multiplo d’arte”. Data infatti la tecnica di esecuzione non è possibile che due esemplari, pur raffigurando lo stesso
soggetto, siano perfettamente uguali tra loro. Tutti i mobili e le porcellane più pregiati sono prodotti in edizione annualmente limitata.
Su ogni mobile è riportata una sigla che indica nell’ordine: il numero progressivo dell’oggetto, il suo limite annuo di produzione e l’anno di esecuzione. I complementi d’arredo invece sono progressivamente numerati, datati e (nel caso del colore) siglati dal pittore che
ne ha eseguito la colorazione a mano.
In considerazione della vasta gamma di soggetti e riedizioni degli anni ’50 e ’60, ogni anno la produzione di alcuni di essi viene sospesa e quella di altri ripresa al loro posto. Questa caratteristica produttiva contribuisce ad aumentare il valore degli oggetti Fornasetti
favorendone altresì il collezionismo.
La maggior parte dei mobili e degli oggetti pubblicati in questo catalogo sono riedizioni fedeli da originali creati da Piero Fornasetti
tra gli anni ’50 e l’inizio degli anni ’80.
Altri sono stati definiti da Barnaba Fornasetti le “reinvenzioni” perché da lui disegnati utilizzando decori nella gran parte dei casi tratti
dall’immenso archivio esistente, nel rispetto dello stile e della qualità che contraddistinguono l’esclusiva produzione di suo padre.
Ricordiamo che tutti gli oggetti Fornasetti possono essere restaurati, quando se ne presenti la necessità, solamente presso il nostro
Atelier o da artigiani da noi indicati, al fine di garantire la validità del restauro.
Inoltre, su richiesta del cliente, è possibile eseguire particolari oggetti e decori non presenti nel catalogo (come per esempio mobili su
misura o porcellane personalizzate) ciò compatibilmente con la fattibilità tecnica e le scelte artistiche dell’Atelier Fornasetti.
Every object, drawn from the historic archives of Piero Fornasetti and produced at the Atelier in Milano, is wholly handcrafted
with the use of exclusive artisanal techniques. These particular handicraft characteristics render these unique and elevate them
to the status of a true artistic reproduction. Given, in fact, the technique of their construction, it is impossible for two examples,
even if representing the same subject, to be absolutely identical. All of the most valuable furniture and porcelains are produced in limited annual editions.
Every piece of furniture bears a stamp indicating in order: the progressive object number, its annual production limit and the
year of production. The furniture is thus progressively numbered, dated and, in the case of painted material, signed by the painter who completed the hand colouring. Considering the vast range of objects and re-editions of the 50’s and 60’s, every year,
the production of some of these is suspended, while that of others takes their place. This production characteristic contributes
to the increasing value of Fornasetti furniture, rendering them a favourite amongst collectors.
The majority of furniture and objects presented in this catalogue are faithful re-editions of the originals created by Piero Fornasetti
from the 50’s to the beginning of the 80’s.
Others have been defined by Barnaba Fornasetti as “reinventions” as they were designed by him using decorative elements found
in examples of the immense existing archive, as regards to the style and quality that marks the exclusive production of his father.
May we remind you that all Fornasetti artefacts may only be restored, if the need arises, at our Atelier or by one of our indicated craftsmen, in order to guarantee the validity of the restoration.
Moreover, upon client request, it is possible to produce various objects and furniture not included in the catalogue (as for example custom-made furniture or personalised porcelain), always in keeping with the technical know-how and artistic choices of the
Atelier Fornasetti.

TRUMEAU-BAR

Il trumeau-bar è il mobile più conosciuto e rappresentato della produzione Fornasetti. La parola “trumeau” è il classico esempio di francesismo all’italiana che
non corrisponde al reale significato del termine originale. Fornasetti la usò comunque per definire questo mobile a metà tra una credenza, un mobile bar o uno
scrittoio a ribalta. Originariamente disegnato da Gio Ponti fu poi modificato da Fornasetti che per la sua piccola produzione preferì conferirgli un aspetto più
squadrato, a suo modo meno lezioso, eliminando tutto ciò che avrebbe potuto ricordare lo stile tipico degli anni ’50. Via le gambe a puntale, sostituite da una
base nera più squadrata e via la curvatura che caratterizzava la sommità. Sono attualmente disponibili le riedizioni di alcuni decori e in più esiste una versione
a fondo nero creata da Barnaba Fornasetti in edizione limitata.
Tiratura limitata a 15 esemplari all’anno per il decoro “Architettura” bianco e nero.
“Architettura” bianco e nero (b/w) - Cod. M33X004
The trumeau-bar is the best known and best represented piece of furniture in the Fornasetti range. “Trumeau” is the classic example of a Gallicism in the Italian
language which does not correspond to the real meaning of the original term. Fornasetti nonetheless used it to define this item of furniture, a cross between a
sideboard, bar and bureau. The trumeau-bar was originally designed by Gio Ponti but then modified by Fornasetti who preferred, for the purposes of small-scale
production, to make it look more square and less affected, removing all traces of a typical 1950s style. The pointed legs have been replaced by a squarer, black
base and the top is no longer curved. Several decorative styles are now available and there is also a limited edition version with a black base created by
Barnaba Fornasetti. Limited annual production of 15 models in the black and white “Architettura” style.

COMO’ CURVO - CURVED CHEST OF DRAWERS

Il comò curvo è il secondo mobile per importanza. Una forma semplice a tre cassetti con una curvatura frontale. È il tipico esempio di design essenziale ispirato ai classici cassettoni di varie epoche ed è anche un esempio perfetto del concetto di design fornasettiano. È adatto ad accogliere il decoro su tutta la
superficie. Rieditato in vari decori. Di recente si è scelto di tornare all’uso delle guide tradizionali in legno per i cassetti invece di quelle su cuscinetti a sfera per
dare una maggiore affidabilità nel tempo.
The curved chest of drawers is the second most important item of furniture. It features a simple design, three drawers and is curved at the front. This is a typical
example of basic design inspired by classic chests of drawers dating from different eras, and is also a perfect example of Fornasetti’s design concept. All its surfaces can be decorated. It is re-edited with several decorative designs. Ball bearings for drawers have recently been replaced by traditional wooden runners
to ensure greater durability.

Questa tipologia di sedia é la più famosa del repertorio fornasettiano. Hanno tutte la stessa struttura formata da una scocca in legno multistrato curvato a caldo
e ritagliata nella forma dei vari decori, alcuni rieditati e altri reinventati. Alla scocca sono avvitate le gambe in legno tornito laccato nero.
This kind of chair is the most famous item in the Fornasetti collection. They all feature the same heat-curved multi-layer wooden bodywork, carved into the various
decorative shapes; some have been re-edited and others reinvented. Black-lacquered turned wooden legs are screwed onto the bodywork.
