Taijiquan An eight-posture version of Taijquan, making it an ideal entry into Taiji practice, emphasizing the basic postures. Philosophy with Deng Ming-Dao, author of 365 Tao and Scholar Warrior Discussion of Taoist concepts and common questions. Featuring calligraphy as qigong movements with Pearl Huang. This fourth in a series of Taoist practices brought to Taos will focus on Hua Tuo’s Five Animal Frolics, Qigong, and Taijiquan Eight The Five Animal Frolics are a set of therapeutic exercises created by the famous 3rd century healer, Hua Tuo. They take their inspiration from the movements of the crane, bear, deer, monkey, and tiger. The set heals, strengthens and maintains health, and brings calm through graceful and playful movements. Deng Ming-Dao has been practicing Taoism, Chinese martial arts, and qigong for more than forty years. He is the author of nine books, including 365 Tao, Scholar Warrior, Everyday Tao, The Living I Ching, and The Lunar Tao. His books have been translated into sixteen languages. He has taught through various martial arts schools, including the classes of his Taoist master, Kwan Saihung, the subject of the book, Chronicles of Tao. Pearl Huang, founder of the Ru Yi Studio of Multicultural Arts, was born and educated in China. She is a performer, artist and educator. Pearl teaches Chinese calligraphy as an expression of beauty, emotion, and primordial life force—a meditation to harmonize us with nature and the Tao.
