INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: For complete moisture detection guidelines pertaining to the specific product being installed, always refer to the product
installation instructions located inside each carton of flooring.
1Check all types of subfloors for
moisture content before proceeding
with the underlayment and
flooring installation.
2Use a pin probe moisture meter to
check wood-based subfloors.
3Use a concrete moisture meter for all
concrete subfloors.
SilentStep™ Ultra 3-in-1
4Sweep and damp mop the subfloor
to eliminate dust and soil.
5Make sure all nail heads are flush and
smooth out any other sharp subfloor
protrusions such as splinters and
rough or raised areas.
6On all concrete subfloors, for
moisture protection, you must seal
the overlapping plastic film to the
next section of underlayment.
7If installing on plywood or other
wood-based organic subfloors, do
not seal the overlapping plastic film
to the next section of underlayment
between rows of underlayment.
When installing over wood or
wood-based subfloors, you may
remove the overlapping film from
the underlayment, or simply tuck
it underneath the section it is
attached to.
8On dry, clean subfloor, roll out
underlayment (white side up) in the
direction that planks will be installed.
Allow at least 2" additional material
to go up the starting wall and roll out
the underlayment placing the edge
without the overlap film against the
starting wall.
9Install the underlayment with
enough extra material to go up
the walls at least 2" at the ends
of each row. (This additional
underlayment will later be
trimmed to the proper height.)

Install the first rows of planks leaving
enough underlayment showing
to allow you to butt the foam
edges of underlayment together.
Remember, when installing over a
concrete subfloor, you must seal
the overlapping plastic film to the
next section of underlayment. This
is accomplished by removing the
protective strip from the adhesive
band on the next section of
underlayment, and then pressing
firmly on the overlapping film from
the previous section, being careful to
fully seal the entire length of each
overlap seam.
11Continue this process, section
by section, but remember to
install planks on each section of
underlayment before rolling out
the next width of underlayment to
minimize the possibility of damage to
the underlayment during installation.

CONDITIONS OF USE:
Shaw 35 MC is Shaw’s premium, 100% solids,
one component, moisture curing urethane
adhesive for all types of engineered hardwood
flooring. Shaw 35MC can be used in a single
coat application that provides superior bond and
moisture vapor emission control on concrete
slabs up to 15 lbs. in MVER and/or 90% relative
humidity. Shaw 35 MC also provides sound
reduction properties.
Substrate temperature should be between
65° F (18°C) and 90°F (32°C).

SUBFLOOR PREPARATION:
All substrates must be structurally sound, dry,
solid and stable. The substrate must be clean
and free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, paint, curing
compounds, concrete sealers, loosely bonded
toppings, old adhesive residue and any other
substance that may prevent or reduce adhesion.
Substrates must be flat to 3/16" in a 10 foot span
before spreading Shaw 35 MC.

PRODUCT APPLICATION:
1.Remove the clip-on trowel attachments
found inside the pail. See chart below to
select proper trowel.
2.Key the adhesive into the subfloor using the
flat side of the trowel.
3.Rake the adhesive using the proper trowel
adapter in lines perpendicular to the wood
floor layout.
4.Only apply as much adhesive as can be installed
in 45 minutes.
5.Install flooring immediately, pressing firmly into
the adhesive to insure 100% coverage of the
subfloor and transfer to flooring.
6.Within 30 minutes, roll in both directions with
a 3-section 100 to 150 pound roller to assure
adhesive transfer.
7.Protect from light traffic for at least 12 hours.
Protect from heavy traffic for at least 24 hours.
8.Do not reuse clip-on trowel attachments.

DESCRIPTION:
Shaw 4100 is a premium, high strength
adhesive for installing resilient sheet, tiles and
dimensionally stable resilient plank over porous
and non-porous substrates. Shaw 4100 is
a solvent free, water-based acrylic adhesive
suggested for use in occupied buildings, as it is
low in odor and contains “zero” (calculated)
VOC’s.
The installation site must be acclimated with
HVAC in operation. The floor and room
temperature, as well as flooring materials and
adhesive, must be maintained at 65 degrees – 85
degrees F, and the humidity 60% or below for 48 hours
prior to, during, and after the testing and installation. Follow
ASTM F710 guidelines for subfloor testing and preparation.
LIMITATIONS FOR USE:
Concrete substrates must comply with limitations of moisture and alkalinity. Relative
Humidity test must be performed per ASTM F2170. Results cannot exceed 87% RH
and substrate pH readings should be between 7.0 and 10.0

APPLICATION:
Porous substrates: Flooring may be placed into adhesive after 10-20 minutes open time (flashoff) over a porous substrate.
Non-Porous substrates: Do not install flooring into wet adhesive on a non-porous substrate.
Install sheet, tiles and plank flooring into adhesive as it becomes dry to the touch with little or
no transfer to finger when touched. This will normally require 30 to 60 minutes at suggested
installation temperature and humidity, but not to exceed 2 hours working time.
Roll the installation with a 100 lb. roller immediately after flooring is placed, ensuring complete
contact with adhesive.
SHELF LIFE:
• 1 year from manufacturing date in an unopened container.
• This product is not photochemically reactive as defined by California Rules 102 and 443.
• V.O.C. content below is established by California SCAQMD Rule 1168.

DESCRIPTION:
Shaw Kwik Flash LV is a firm-setting transitional acrylic adhesive that quickly develops a
strong bond to withstand heavy rolling loads and limit flooring movement. Shaw Kwik
Flash LV is completely compatible with and will not stain solid vinyl flooring. Use Shaw
Kwik Flash LV to install solid vinyl plank and tiles.

INSTALLATION:
Surfaces to be bonded must be free from moisture, wax, dirt, grease, oil, paint, rust or
other substances that might interfere with a good bond. Approved substrates include but
are not limited to: on or above grade moisture free concrete, APA approved plywood,
terrazzo, and existing tile and sheet goods. All substrates must be smooth and fully
adhered. Shaw Kwik Flash LV is not recommended for use on concrete slabs where
hydrostatic pressure, excessive moisture or alkali exists. Moisture level of concrete must
not exceed 85% in-situ Relative Humidity per current ASTM F2170 standards, and must
conform to current ASTM F710 guidelines. The pH level of the concrete should be 10.0
or less. Do not use Shaw Kwik Flash LV on chemically cleaned substrates, or over treated
plywood substrates. The installation site must be acclimated with HVAC in operation. The
floor and room temperature, as well as flooring material to be installed and adhesive,
must be maintained at 65° - 85° F, and the humidity below 65% for 48 hours prior to,
during, and after the testing and installation.
POROUS SUBSTRATES:
•Apply adhesive with a 1/16" x 1/16" x 1/16" Square-notch trowel.
Flooring may be placed into adhesive after 10–20 minutes open
time over a porous substrate. Roll the installation in both directions
with a 75-100lb. 3-section roller immediately after flooring is placed
and positioned, ensuring complete contact with adhesive. When
installing vinyl plank and tile over a porous substrate, the adhesive
should be allowed to partially dry sufficient to prevent slippage.
NON-POROUS SUBSTRATES:
the adhesive up to 30 minutes open time (flash off) before placing
the flooring material into the adhesive, but DO NOT ALLOW THE
ADHESIVE TO DRY COMPLETELY. After spreading the adhesive, install
the flooring as soon as the adhesive has begun to partially dry and
develop body. Check for adhesive transfer frequently; there must be a wet
transfer of adhesive to the material backing in order to achieve a
secure bond.

•If the adhesive is left open beyond 30 minutes, the adhesive can become too dry and
will not provide sufficient adhesion to the floor covering. Loss of adhesion can result
if the flooring is not installed within the working time of the adhesive. The installer is
responsible for determining the proper drying time under the existing conditions, and
must not spread more adhesive than can be covered within the allowed working time.
•Roll the installation in both directions with a 75-100lb. 3-section roller immediately after
flooring is placed.
NOTE: The open time and working time of adhesives will vary depending on site conditions
such as ambient temperature and humidity, the porosity of the substrate and air circulation.
TRAFFIC: No foot traffic for 24 hours after installation. No heavy traffic, rolling loads or
furniture placement for 72 hours after installation.
RECOMMENDED TROWEL SIZE: 1/16" x 1/16" x 1/16" Square-Notch trowel for
porous applications (coverage 140-170 sq ft/gal) 1/16" x 1/32" x 1/32" U-Notch trowel
for non-porous applications (coverage 220-260 sq ft/gal) CLEAN UP: Use a clean wet
cloth to clean up adhesive while it is still wet. Dried adhesive may require the use of an
appropriate solvent cleaner.

use with vinyl sheet, plank and tiles, vinyl composition tile, carpet cushion, cove base

highly aggressive grab and shear strength and has outstanding water and plasticizer

Use on porous or non-porous surfaces, such as properly prepared metal, wood,
fiberglass. Terazzo, existing vinyl composition tile and concrete substrates with up to
90% in-situ Relative Humidity as determined per latest version of ASTM F2170, and
pH up to 10.0. Do not use on substrates that have been chemically cleaned.

DESCRIPTION:
Shaw 9050 pH Blocker/Floor Primer is an acrylic solution made to neutralize excess alkali.
9050 is also recommended as a primer coat on porous concrete above, on, or below
grade, light weight concrete, over floor patch, and other porous surfaces to prevent over
absorption of adhesive and to ensure a better bond.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Subfloor must be free of any foreign
substances that might interfere with a
good bond. Apply 9050 generously to
subfloor using a medium nap paint roller.
On large jobs 9050 is often sprayed using
a garden sprayer, airless rig, or regular
paint spray equipment. Coverage is
approximately 350 sf/gallon. Let dry for
a minimum of 30 minutes before you
begin the new floor covering installation.
CLEAN-UP:
Use warm soapy water while liquid
is still wet.
When dry, use Touchdown #9 Clean-Up

Shaw 9050 is formulated with an antimicrobial agent which provides protection against
bacteria, fungi, and mildew in the wet or dry state. 9050 contains no solvent, alcohol,
or other hazardous materials per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200. V.O.C. zero grams/litre of
material (calculated). Non photochemically reactive per rule #102.

Shaw has developed three trim pieces – multi-purpose reducer (MPR),
T-molding, and quarter-round – that offer an unprecedented degree of
color coordination by using the actual “film” used for the flooring in
the molding.
For added convenience, MPR and T-molding are packaged in plastic
sleeves with the required track and hardware. No track is needed for
quarter-round.
MPR and T-molding are offered in 72" lengths, and each quarter-round
piece is 94" long.
With these matching trims, you’ll get a leg up on your competition with
