Suvereto Festival
During the first half of December, the old medieval town of Suvereto hosts a festival that has been held for more
than 30 years. It focuses on local cuisine, performances, exhibitions, cultural initiatives, and folklore, combined to
create a rich and varied programme. The initiatives include a historical procession, Suvereto's flag wavers, and a
huge grill for the cooking of tasty meat. The undisputed protagonist in the kitchen is the wild boar, cooked to the
most traditional recipes. Other local dishes can be tasted in the street, or at one of the participating restaurants.

Living Nativity
In the days leading up to Christmas, the paved alleyways and the old storerooms of the Castello di Rosignano
Marittimo are immersed in a magical atmosphere. More than 150 figures - dressed as characters from the nativity,
centurions, Roman cavaliers, shepherds, and merchants - bring to life a new Bethlehem. It is a highly suggestive
living nativity scene, an accurate representation of the birth of Jesus as it was passed down by the Evangelists.
The nativity scene also encompasses ancient customs and crafts and involves the whole population of Rosignano
Marittimo, a hilltop settlement constructed in the 10th century and fortified by the Medici.

The Etruscan Ciclostorica on the Etruscan Coast
Back the prestigious cycling race Etruscan Ciclostorica. The event is scheduled for Saturday 28 and Sunday, March
29. The Etruscan will have as headquarters logistic-organizational Caprilli Hippodrome of Livorno, inside of which
will be the secretariat inscriptions, the press room, the ciclostorico market, the market for local products, the
pasta party the end of the event and the award ceremony.
It then begins March 28 to 11, will take place when the preview, the Kronos Vintage team. Pedaling time ever in
key strictly historical, in which couples will have to meet predetermined pace, without the aid of advanced
technology (only watches with hands). Who will be closer will win an award. The route of the Kronos Vintage
should be about 10 km starting from the Gazebo Terrace Mascagni and arrival at the Hippodrome. This race serves
as training and warming to cyclists.
Sunday, March 29 at 9 the start of the race itself. L 'Etruscan Ciclostorica will have two paths, the first Livorno
-Rosignano Maritime and return of about 60 km, the second Livorno -Bolgheri of about 150 km.
The start will be most likely from the Naval Academy, with the presence of such testimonial Franco Bitossi,
Francesco Moser, Passuello, Simonetti, Ballini, and many others.
Upon arrival of the race pasta party will be held at the Hippodrome.
The whole event will be surrounded by Cars and motorcycles, in collaboration with car and motorcycle clubs. Also
as a side event on Saturday 28 at 19, in the theater "The Goldonetta" in Livorno will stage the play "The Black
Shirt" the company "The big room of the Apparitions" with Massimo Poggio.

Festa del cedro and palio delle botti
The Festa del Cedro ('citron festival') takes place on Easter Monday in the historic centre of Bibbona. It centres
around a market selling arts and crafts and local produce, including the citron, to which the event is dedicated.
During the afternoon, various games - including the traditional round of bingo - are organised in the village
square, as well as concerts and tastings. In the evening there is a costume parade and the annual Palio delle Botti,
the suggestive competition between Bibbona's districts which involves pushing barrels up the narrow village
streets.

Castagneto C. - - wine and food events
Castagneto a table becomes Genius Loci
The first edition of the festival "Genius Loci - The earth is alive" debuts in Castagneto Carducci in May 2015. Five
weekend with the highlight on days 8, 9 and 10 May, dedicated to agriculture and the environment, architecture
and landscape, food and wine, which are inspired by the thought and practice of the Marquis Mario Incisa della
Rocchetta. One of the founders and first president of WWF Italy, the Marquis formed on their land, in the Marshes
of Bolgheri, the first wildlife refuge private oasis. A lover of nature and the great horse breeder, helped select
Dormello Olgiata, the largest Italian gallopers, and inaugurated the production of wines "Super Tuscans" Bolgheri,
helping one side to change the type of local agricultural production, but while preserving the natural environment
and rural land.
The festival was founded during the 20th edition of "Castagneto at the table", the historical event on the
excellence of the food and wine of the territory.
It begins on May 2 and 3 with the "three-year celebrations," a religious and folk in the center of Castagneto, and
with the historic walk of the hunters, organized by the Association for UCAV and Castagneto, with a stop in two
cellars.
Friday, May 8 at 21.00 at the Teatro Roma round table to be attended: Fulco Pratesi, honorary president of WWF
Italy; Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta and Piermario Meletti Cavallari, producers of prestigious wines and direct
witnesses of the work of the Marquis; Giannozzo Pucci, publisher; Nicola Perullo, professor of aesthetics at the
University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo; a representative of the National Order of agronomists and
forestry; with video interventions Marco Lambertini, current Director General of WWF International and founder
Carlo Petrini slowfood. Will moderate the conference Federico Monechi vicecaporedattore of TGR RAI-3.
On the same day at 14.00, with the writer and "seeker of trees" Tiziano Fratus and a hiking guide of Tenuta San
Guido, there is a walk in Castiglioncello of Bolgheri. The oldest settlement in the area overlooking the valley, is a
natural paradise, accessible to the public on July 16, the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, but will be open
exceptionally for this occasion. Also at 17.00 a lecture on new prospects of the zoning on the territory made by
Professor Attilio Scienza, director of the Master in "System Management wine" of the University of Milan, Professor
of the Italian Academy of Vine and Wine and Corresponding Member Academy Georgofili.
On the second day, in the morning we will speak of Information Agribusiness in a conference organized in
collaboration with the National Order of Journalists, the Regional Order, UNAGA / Arga and Assostampa Tuscany.
Among the many events: the awarding of a culinary challenge entitled "The stain on the plate." The online contest
promoted in collaboration with the Italian Association of Food Bloggers and whose registration has opened on the
site www.aifb.it, has the only directive to express in a dish the aromas and flavors of our Mediterranean and
tradition: from venison with wild herbs, aromatic plants, tubers, mushrooms, truffles, fruits and berries. Still, a
meeting with Luigi Uploaded oleologist and journalist, inventor and owner of OliOfficina. In the afternoon will be
featured at a conference production sites and architecture with wineries copyright in a meeting chaired by Robert
Serdoz TG3 rai. To close the day the concert of young talented acoustic guitar Luca Stricagnoli. After discussing
the design of the landscape and places of production, in the third day of the event, we will come to touch the
products and their processing, celebrating the twentieth edition of Castagneto a Tavola. The character of a place is
also expressed through the knowledge and habits of its inhabitants: they know, through the historic lunch in the
square with the typical products combined with the great wines of Bolgheri, all accompanied by workshops,
tastings, conferences and music buskers. In the evening at 21.30 to close the day gig New Trolls.
Genius Loci will also host Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May, the market of the coast of the Mercantile and a trade
show dedicated to publishing industry will take place where the presentations of the authors and projects of
sustainable agriculture

Rowing races: Coppa Risi'atori
Every year in the waterfront city of Livorno, with its sporting and marine traditions, a series of rowing races takes
place between the city's districts: a challenge deeply rooted in local history. Each district, or rione, has its own
coat of arms and colours which reflect their origins and traditions. The 17th-century Medici law which gave the
right to land to the fastest boats represents the historical roots of the Coppa Risiatori, a rowing race that takes
place in open sea at the end of June. "Arrisicare" means to risk, to jeopardise one's life in the struggle against the
sea. The boats start from the Meloria tower, historic symbol of sea battles, and cover a distance of 7.6 km,
finishing in the port.

enthusiastic audience from the bridges and parapets along the canals.

October fairs
The Feste di Ottobre ('October fairs') that take place in Sassetta on the last three Sundays in the month, are
characterised by gastronomic festivals and historical re-enactments. During the events, the village re-lives its
medieval past through parades in historical costume, a display of flag waving, and the much-awaited "Palio dei
Ciuchi" (donkey race) which is fiercely contested between the town's districts. Chestnuts, polenta and game form
the basis of the gastronomic produce on offer, cooked to typical and traditional recipes.
