Move Ins
Spring Is In The Air
We would
like to give a
special welcome to our
new residents who will be
joining us this month. Rienk
& Annie Snyder (T-902).
We hope you will settle into
your new home quickly.
It’s amazing and incredible,
But it’s as true as it can be,
God loves and understands us
all
And that means you and me–
His grace is all sufficient
For both the young and old,
For the lonely and the timid,
For the brash and for the bold–
His love knows no exceptions,
So never feel excluded,
No matter what your past has
been,
Trust God to understand,
And no matter what your problem is
Just place it in His Hand–
For in all of our unloveliness
This great God loves us still,
He loved us since the world began,
And what’s more, He always
will!
Move Outs
We give our
prayers and
best wishes to
Harriet Terrell (T-211) who
is currently in hospital and
unable to return to her
home here.

NOTES FROM THE OFFICE
AIR CONDITIONER COVERS
It appears that during the high winds we experienced this winter, some may have
lost their air conditioner covers. If you find that yours is missing, please speak to
reception at the front office.
MEMBERSHIP FEES
A reminder that any members who pay fees annually must be paid up to date prior to voting at the Annual
General Meeting. Your membership allows you to invest, ensures your status on the waitlist for future residency and offers updates and newsletters. If you have yet to pay your annual fee ($65), please do so prior
to the AGM or provide payment night of. For membership inquiries, contact Tenant Administrator Janis
Wedd at 905-430-1666 x222 or via email at [email protected].
REMINDER
We would like to gently remind all residents to please switch off all lights when leaving the
common area rooms. (ie. Auditorium, Activities Room, Providence Place Lounge, Library, etc.)
If you have been using the room and are the last person out, please ensure that the lights are
turned off and the necessary doors are locked. Thank you.
FEEDING WILDLIFE
As the weather warms, residents are reminded not to feed birds from balconies or to
provide peanuts to the squirrels or other wildlife in the gardens or around the building.
While we understand that they are all God’s creatures, they can make quite a mess with
droppings and peanut shells that others have to clean. Also, with the warmer weather
coming, we ask that you do not sweep debris from your balcony due to safety concerns for
those below.
We appreciate your co-operation!
INDEPENDENT ACTIVITIES
For any new residents and as a reminder for all, there are many puzzles in the Activities
Room that you are welcome to borrow or build on the tables in that room. There is also
a WII play system in the Activities Room that you can use at your leisure.

From The Board
For the Board,
“Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the
earth.” ~ Hosea 6:3
Officially spring arrived over one week ago and yet we continue to have lingering signs of winter. Warm weather and
April showers will arrive soon and we can look forward to a time of renewal and growth.
The Board of Directors is already preparing material for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for June 6th
including the recruitment of new Board Directors, however with the recent announcement that we received approval for the 160 Long Term Care Bed facility in Whitby, a significant portion of the Board’s focus is on the next steps.
Preparation for the redevelopment project includes major tasks such as establishing construction financing, working
on design development and securing site plan approval, all in preparation for entering into a Development Agreement with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. There is much work to be done by staff and committees and
we pray for God’s guidance as we embark on this exciting journey.
We give thanks and rejoice in the blessings we have received including the recent celebration of Easter and the gift
of salvation granted to each of us.

Board Chair

together to rejoice in having our prayers answered after many years of planning, hard work and prayer.
To assist us in planning for this exciting event, we ask
that members RSVP to 905-430-1666 x235 or via email

From Residents’ Council
Dear Residents,
The days have been rainy, the robins are back and the spring flowers are beginning to pop up……it must be
April.
With spring on the way, we have much to be thankful for. We had the grand opening of our newly renovated exercise room, at which I personally felt honoured, as your council chair, to cut the official ribbon.
Once again, thank you to all those who helped to make this project happen.
I’m sure many are also very thankful for the exciting news that we have finally been given the necessary
government approval to move ahead with our new build of Glen Hill Terrace. We ask that you please continue to pray as staff and directors proceed with the necessary planning for this project.
For entertainment last month, we enjoyed the sounds of the York Regional Male Police Chorus, the fun entertainment of Darlene & the Shamrocker for our St. Patrick’s Breakfast and the angelic sounds of the
Rhythm A’Peal handbell quartet. Easter did come a little early this year but many enjoyed our special
coffee social, worship services and bible studies that helped to prepare us for celebrating this season of
new life.
Also with spring comes our annual Yard Sale, which will be held on Saturday May 7 th. Many volunteers are
needed to help make this fundraiser a successful event so please consider signing up. It is a great way to
work with your fellow neighbours in raising funds for our two buildings. Please watch the bulletin boards
for further details. This month we also look forward to our annual Hobby Show, which is coming up on
Thursday April 21st. Please make sure to sign up early to reserve your table.
With warmer weather on the way, I hope that each of you will enjoy the many signs of spring. Be sure to
take count of your blessings every day and share in fellowship with your neighbours.

The World Is Mine….(by Dr. Tennyson Guyer)
Today upon a bus I saw a girl with golden hair,
She seemed so gay, I envied her, and wish that I were half so fair;
I watched her as she rose to leave, and saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and wore a crutch, but as she passed...a smile.
Oh God forgive me when I whine; I have two legs...the world is mine.
Later on I bought some sweets. The boy who sold them had such charm,
I thought I’d stop and talk awhile, if I were late t’would do no harm.
And as we talked he said, “Thank you sir, you’ve really been so kind,
It’s nice to talk to folks like you because, you see, I’m blind”
Later, walking down the street, I met a boy with eyes so blue.
But he stood and watched the others play, it seemed he knew not what to do.
I paused, and then I said, “Why don’t you join the others, dear?”
But he looked straight ahead without a word,
and then I knew he couldn’t hear.
Oh God forgive me when I whine; I have two ears...the world is mine.
Two legs to take me where I go, two eyes to see the sunset’s glow,
Two ears to hear all I should know,
Oh God forgive me when I whine;
I’m blest, indeed, the world is mine.

IN HONOUR OF OUR EXERCISE ROOM GRAND OPENING…..
At the urging of Harry’s wife and doctor, 50 year old Harry finally made it to the gym.
After consulting with one of the trainers, Harry decided to try out a steep treadmill.
“Ok”, said the trainer “I’m going to set it for ten minutes, if you want to go longer just
press start again.” At first Harry was doing fine but after 5 seconds he started getting
tired, and after a minute he jumped off gasping for breath. Walking to
the side to sit down, he passed by a friend of his. “Man”, said Harry. “I
could barely last a full minute on that treadmill.” “Alright alright”, said his
buddy, “no reason to brag!”
