February 2016 1 Strategy Our Mission is best expressed in the Great Commission and Great Commandment ‘make disciples… love God, and love others.’ 2 • School of Discipleship • Believe that we are called to be a sending church. • Facilitate deep and meaningful connection between God’s people. • Worship increasingly communal and interactive 3 • Belong before you Believe • We must remove barriers which inhibit people from hearing, understanding, and appropriating its message. • We must lead the way in the unique challenges faced by First and New Canadians. 4 We must take an active role as a reproducing church: exploring new expressions of church; coming alongside ailing churches; and establishing new ‘beach-heads’ for the proclamation of the Gospel. 5 • We must extend the Gospel proclamation which occurs on our campuses. • We need to creatively and winsomely take the message of the Gospel using unconventional methods (e.g. Adult Expo, Comic-Con wherever God leads!) 6 • Be excellent stewards of the church and school facilities God has provided us. Part of this responsibility includes maintaining that which we already possess. Our church and school campuses are the hub from which most of our ministry activity originates. • Renew our church facilities and prepare them for the next era of ministry. 7 Facility Needs • Our room is well used. • More than 2.5 million people visits have taken place since any renewal has been undertaken. • The pew fabric is more than 30 years old; The carpet is more than 20; When the air circulation system isn’t running, the air smells decidedly musty. • Our technology is outdated. Most of our sound, video, and lighting technology is at the end of its useful life. 8 Recommendation • Divide the total project into manageable phases. • The proposed scope of Phase 1 is as follows: • Auditorium Renewal • Cross prominently displayed as part of the room • Environment elements: Seating; Flooring; Ceiling Repairs; Enhancement of Balcony North • Technical elements: Audio, Video and Lighting Systems; Stage and Fly systems; Consolidation of technical teams • Safety and Security • Facility wide communications system • Training content and learning management system • Optimized SCS Office 9 Considered for Phase 2 • Community Wing • Multi-use Chapel for Weddings, Funerals and Youth • Fellowship Hall • Kitchen • Washrooms • Parking and access • Offices • Relocation of SonBurst to current office location • Hold and Secure capability; Lock down capability 10 Out of Scope • The cost of the warehouse changes is prohibitive so the current plan is to leave it as cold storage. • The asbestos in the warehouse has been removed. 11 Concept 1.
