Join Porkchop Productions and the students from Wateree Elementary for a whirl-wind romp through
childhood! When was the last time you built a fort? Rode the school bus? Or ate spaghetti with your fingers?
If you answered YES to even one of these questions, you won’t want to miss Just KIDding Around, an insightful (and
sometimes hilarious) look at life as we know it from a kid’s point of view. This rollicking production includes songs,
dance and familiar slices-of-life that kids of all ages can relate to! (Made possible by special arrangement with the Lugoff
Optimist Club. ) Reinforces language arts, music and character education standards. 50 minutes with Q&A included.

Do you love to rock n’ roll? Do you love Zydeco Blues? Teachers—treat your students
to this great genre of music...with blues for all tastes, from the swamps of Louisiana, to
the outback of Australia and all points in between.
This special educational concert features internationally-acclaimed blues artist Shrimp
City Slim and special guests performing in this year’s 18th annual Carolina Downhome
Blues Festival!
An informal concert that will enhance students’ appreciation of the soulful sounds of
the South's indigenous music, a major influence on rock and roll.
Reinforces curriculum standards in social studies (1920s, Black History) 45 minutes.

A new twist on an old tale...
“The course of true love never did run smooth,” says
Lysander and indeed, things get even more complex
when you add in mischievous fairies, an arranged
marriage and a group of wannabe actors.
This updated production centers around the
upcoming nuptials of Athens Music Group’s owner
and CEO, Big Daddy “Duke” Theseus and Hippolyta,
rock goddess extraordinaire. Putting a damper on
things is Egeus a manager determined to marry
country music’s sweetheart and his daughter Hermia
to pop idol Demetrius whom she does not love. A healthy dollop of jealousy and fairies, with a side order of eager
to please mechanicals make for lots of fun in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, easily one of William Shakespeare’s most
accessible comedies. 2 hours.

in an empowering look at the figures behind America’s
Underground Railroad. From the secret signs along routes
to the Abolition Movement, this play leaves few stones
unturned. This engaging production has routinely been
called the “best assembly we’ve ever had” by educators

Attention teachers and music lovers! Bring your students to be inspired and
enthralled by world-renowned musicians from Edward Arron & Friends: Gilles
Vonsattel, piano; Todd Palmer, clarinet; Bella Hristova, violin and Edward
Arron, cello. Selections may include works by Beethoven, Stravinsky, Debussy,
and Weber. The performers will engage young audience members throughout
the concert, encouraging them to listen, to think, and to provide feedback for a
truly interactive concert experience! Reinforces curriculum standards in music

Cinderella!

Fairy tales can come true,
especially if you’re in the
audience at Columbia City
Ballet’s (CCB) Cinderella!
Students will experience a
shortened version of the full
length production (held that
evening at the FAC.) Cinderella is
based on the traditional French
fairy tale as told by Charles
Perrault and, like its ballet
sibling Romeo and Juliet, was
composed by Sergei Prokofiev.
It introduces students to a wide
spectrum of artistic genres
and disciplines, art history,
movement, physical fitness,
music, theatre etiquette and
stagecraft.
Coordinated to fit the Common
Core State Standards and
incorporate STEM strategies. 45
minutes plus Q&A.

the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County since 1980, is designed to enrich the classroom activities
of Kershaw County teachers and students by providing artistic experiences that support and
reinforce curriculum standards.
