Notes From The President
Here we are at the end of another busy season. BTP is such a
wonderful, active place, with much to do, and many good friends
to do things with. We are so fortunate to be able to spend so much
time with wonderful people. This is a vital, active, growing area,
and we at BTP are growing with it. I, for one, feel lucky to be able
to spend time here. We seem to just get better. There are new
residents coming in who re-vitalize us, and bring new ideas and
activities. Pickle Ball is a good example.
There are physical changes going on too. The 16th St. roadway
is being paved, and the pedestrian bridges will be in place soon.
It is great to see these projects being finished at last. More and
more mobiles are being occupied, and it seems there is always
an improvement going on, as well as a party somewhere in the
park. There are other upgrades happening as well. The Board of
Directors works well together and is striving to make improvements that will benefit all residents and shareholders alike. We
have a hard working staff, Cassie, Jennie, Laurie, Ralph, and full
time maintenance person to begin soon. I am looking forward
to a very exciting and fruitful year.
Sam and I will be back and forth this summer. It is our first year
as Florida residents, so we are going through a transition, and are
compelled to spend some time with our family in Michigan. But,
we do look forward to our new life close to the wonderful beaches
and activities this area has to offer. We wish to thank all for their
support. It is our good friends here at BTP who make the tough
times of life easier to handle.

Social Activities Report
April15th, 2016
One more week and hubby and I will be heading back to our
little hamlet of Calabogie, Ontario. We are leaving with mixed
feeling. Anxious to get back and visit our family and friends up
north but missing all the family and friends we have here.
It has been a very busy season and I don’t know where the
time goes except it seems to move faster as I grow older. I hope
everyone was happy with the activities this year and I look forward
to new entertainers next year. The list of activities for next year
will be posted in the May Beacon. We are still without a full time
Beacon editor but hopefully someone will come forward and take
over for Janet Nowakowski.
Our social activities volunteers have gone above and beyond
the call of duty and I know are greatly appreciated by the residence of BTP, what would we do without them.
I see the maintenance volunteers are hard at work also. Without a steady maintenance man these past few months many
volunteers have come forward to do the jobs that can’t get done
without having a maintenance man on site, from renovating the
change room in the hall, painting the front of the stage, painting
the sidewalk outside the hall, sanding and painting the hand rails
in the pool area, the list goes on and on. How fortunate we are to
have dedicated volunteers who want to improve the esthetics of
our park to make it a warm and inviting place to live. Thank you
so much.

Social Activities Report (continued from page 1)
Summer activities now have a chair person, Mary Ann Bucholtz.
Mary Anne had her first meeting. Pot luck and prepared dinners
are planned for the summer months. She is still asking for ideas to
try and keep the BTP residents active during the summer months.
Don Cady is checking with the Manor activities coordinator to see
if some of their day trips are open to BTP residents. It’s nice to see
someone take the initiative and get things rolling. I will also
check with the Manor when I get back in the fall. We now have
summer area Captains who will make sure everyone is informed
of BTP activities.
Area #1 Don Cady, Area #2 David Krause, Area #3 Marian Rusher,
Area #4 Mary Ann Bucholtz, Area #5 Bobbie Farina.
There are a lot of residents outside the fence who feel they are
not getting informed of what is happening at BTP, we are trying
to address this by having the area Captains deliver flyers with
the info to these residents. Also we are trying to compile a list
of those residents that are not mobile. We would need a list of
volunteer drivers that could pick them up and take them home
after a function. The summer activities will get this going and
when I get back in the fall we hope to continue with the winter
season Captains. It is important that everyone be informed as to
what is happening in BTP and be able to attend the functions. I
know some would also come out to meetings if they had assistance to attend.
I thank you again for your patience with my email blast and will
continue to send them out as the information is sent my way. If
you are not on my list please email me at [email protected].
To all the snowbirds who have left and those who are leaving
have a great summer with your Northern family and friends and
keep well.
God willing we will all be back next year.
Marjorie Watts (S.D.) BTP

So long for now.
Although I have not been the manager for very long, I am sad
to see so many great people say so long and travel back to their
other homes. I hope for everyone traveling to be safe and look
forward to next season to see all your smiling faces. Thank you to
every one of you who make Bradenton Tropical Palms a wonderful
place to be.
Late fees
Bradenton Tropical Palms is a beautiful home or seasonal get
away to all of us. Many of us forget that Bradenton Tropical Palms
is also a business and depends on the income of lot rents and
maintenance fees to operate. Any payment submitted after the
10th of the month automatically gets a late fee of $25.00. If you
send your payment late you will have a fee, if unpaid the next
month you will also receive an additional fee. Don’t get caught in
this domino effect. Sign up for auto withdraws or make sure your
payment, is placed in the mail in a timely manner.
Wares Creek work
As you can see, the pedestrian bridges and roadwork has begun.
As of now it looks pretty messy. We at Bradenton Tropical Palms
need to be patient and look forward to the result. Manatee County
and the contractors have been very courteous and respectful so
far. As residents of Bradenton Tropical Palms, let’s try and return
the same. lf at any time you have questions please don’t hesitate
to stop in at the office and ask.
HURICANE
Hurricane season is just around the corner. Newby Management
has a response team that can bring great help and comfort, if there
is a disaster, part of this program is for us to be prepared. If you
are interested in being part of the preparation and relief team,
please come to the office and put your name on a list. There are
many different jobs from distributing forms to debris pick up.
Every helping hand makes the difference.
Thank you
Many thanks for all the phone calls, food brought in, cards and
visits. What good friends we have in BTP. My hip surgery was a
piece of cake. Pray the right one goes as well.
Thanks all very much appreciated. Be well and happy.
Jo Bower
Another Thank you
I would like to thank all of you who sent cards, emails prayers and
kind thoughts to me. It sure cheered me up and many were the
days that I needed cheering up! I have finished my treatments and
I am gradually getting my strength back. Louis and I are planning
to see you all next winter.
Many thanks! Hugs!

Card of Thanks
On behalf of my two sons and myself, I wish to extend a heartfelt
thanks to all my friends in this wonderful BTP community for their
cards and support during Bob’s illness and death. I had 6 family
members here for two weeks and the meals that were so graciously
prepared and delivered to us over several days was so terrific!!
When planning and fixing meals is the last thing on your mind,
it was true gifts to have friends do that for you. Your generosity
will never be forgotten. My sons got to experience the sense of
family here and so felt a little sigh of relief when they had to leave
knowing that I have a great circle of friends who will be there to
help me out when I need it. Again, many thanks.
