BIOGRAPHY Changing the world for the better through music, song and the way she lives her life is not only the goal, it is the journey for Jasmine Rhey. “I found that all I want is some where hiding deep within me, but if I want it to shine I gotta reach inside and bring it out of me, got a fire burning in my mind and I’ma let it shine until the end of time” ~Lighters High R&B vocalist turned World Pop artist Jasmine Rhey released her first full-‐length original album, Perfect Imperfections, in 2009 before moving to Egypt to study Arabic. Jasmine is a Jacksonville, Florida native and a linguist of many facets graduating from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a year of Arabic language studies at The American University in Cairo, Egypt. Her exposure to different cultures and languages was her inspiration to expose her fans to a new sound and performance image with upbeat rhythms, exciting melodies, vibrant instruments and lyrics with an uplifting message. Raised by a single mother and her grandparents, Jasmine started her journey in music and entertainment at the age of 12. Her mother supported her passion for music and signed her up for lessons with vocal coach Lorna Greenwood. She performed regularly in restaurants, festivals and elderly homes gaining comfort on stage. From there, the brown-‐eyed, curly-‐haired songstress sustained her vision to become a music sensation. Throughout the years she wrote many poems to express her experiences in life, love and relationships. In 2004, she began recording songs to transform her poetry into music. Jasmine’s album Perfect Imperfections (2009) was a reflection of her experiences expressed in brilliant words and melodies delicately articulated throughout each song. BIOGRAPHY While in Egypt, she shared her smooth, melodic voice by performing in Arabic & English multiple times at AUC Egypt as well as the famed Sakayat el Sawi Theater. Although not in Jacksonville to experience the progress of her album, the success of Perfect Imperfections is indicated by physical and iTunes sales. After her return to the U.S. in 2010, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to experience more of what the music industry had to offer. She attended many events and performances, which gained her the opportunity to be in the studio with many well-‐known and respected producers and recording artists. She also learned the behind-‐the-‐scenes side of the entertainment business, and expanded her knowledge of the business, which she would later use for her own brand. Abruptly, she returned to Jacksonville, FL to be with her family as her Grandfather passed. When she returned to Jacksonville, she performed in clubs, sports arenas and schools around the city growing her already large local fan base. In 2012, she received the Duval Diamond Award for R&B artist of the year. Jasmine Rhey is now slated to release new music with a bright cultural influence reflecting her cultural and linguistic experiences. She describes the music as World Pop with a hint of R&B and rap. BIOGRAPHY Growing up listening to popular artists like Michael Jackson and Shakira, Jasmine Rhey was inclined to be creative. She wrote and co-‐wrote all of her material. She has collaborated with numerous artists from different genres of music. Her collaboration with JAK from Turks & Caicos, as well as Nyne from Aguilla, V.I. created songs with an upbeat reggae vibe. “Collaborating with other artists can be so amazing – it challenges you to think outside of your normal thought process and allows you to open your mind to new ideas you may not have come up with on your own while still staying true to who you are as an artist.” One of her upcoming singles, “Battery,” features talented reggaeton artist, JL Madskillz. The track delivers a new sound and edgy side of Jasmine Rhey that fans have not seen or heard before. With her ability to perform in different languages (English, Spanish, Arabic and French) and her dedication to perfecting and constantly evolving her craft, Jasmine Rhey’s vision of impacting the whole world is not so far off from reality. “My vision is clear and I think you can hear it in my music, see it in my photos and feel it in my performance. My passion is real, my drive is steady and with the continued support of my growing team, I know we can reach the world!” REVIEWS & PRESS UNF Student Jasmine Rhey A Night Out in Jacksonville with Superstar Jasmine Rhey Jasmine Rhey “A Multifaceted Jewel” Interview:DJSmallz.com Exclusive Future of Florida Jasmine Rhey Speaks on American Idol and The X-‐Factor Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes MUSIC Danza Kuduro Jasmine Rhey Remix
