For the occasion and since the European Metropole of Lille (MEL) is fulfilling its organizing role alongside UEFA, you will be able to find every useful information in this city guide: match schedule, latest news, and a range of practical advice to help you get around and discover the city… We all are really lucky to be right at the heart of this event, the third biggest in the world! Davis Cup November 2014 Save the date to experience these events at the heart of the action ! 6 Tour de France July 2014 The Pierre-Mauroy stadium is an outstanding facility that represents the ambitions of MEL. This sporting arena, one of the most modern in Europe, has a capacity of 50,000 spectators. Its removable roof and multi purpose ‘Boîte à Spectacles’ function make it the only infrastructure of its kind in the world, just as able to host Rihanna in concert as the final of the Davis Cup or UEFA EURO 2016. Opened in 2012, the Pierre-Mauroy stadium is the home of LOSC, Lille’s football club. International Records : 26,922 spectators attended the semi-final of Euro-Basket 2016 between France and Spain at Pierre-Mauroy stadium, setting a European attendance record for a basketball match. 27,432 spectators attended the Davis Cup final between France and Switzerland. PARKING FACILITIES AROUND THE STADIUM Three car parks providing a total of 3,500 parking slots are Accesssible in less than 15 minutes away on foot from the stadium: - car park C1, 5 minutes on foot from the Southern Entrances of the stadium: purchase of spaces by reservation only (€20). - car park B1, (P+R Triolo), 15 minutes away on foot from the stadium: purchase of spaces by reservation (€15) or on site on the day of the match (€20). - car park C4 (P+R 4 Cantons), 15 minutes away on foot from the stadium: purchase of spaces by reservation (€15) or on site on the day of the match (€20). You can reserve large public car parks via the website of the Pierre Mauroy Stadium : http://www.stade-pierre-mauroy.com/programmation/sport/ uefa-euro-2016 To help with directions, we encourage the public to follow the road markings of the car parks in zones B and C to get to car parks B1, C4 et C1. 10 11 METRO LINES Move easily by metro! 12 13 FAN ZONE The Fan Zone is located between the Place François-Mitterrand and the Parc Matisse in Lille (metro stop is Gare Lille Europe and/or Gare Lille Flandres). Free Admission to the Fan Zone The Fan Zone will be the unique place to experience UEFA EURO 2016, with its festive and entertaining atmosphere. You will find catering services on site, as well as entertainment organized by partners. Figures Capacity: 25, 000 people Broadcasting the 51 matches of the competition live on a giant screen. On the program: zumba, Just Dance, flamenco, disco. Every Saturday and Sunday at 10.30am there will be zumba and body zen lessons. Don’t miss the DJ Battles, Freestyle and other performances. (No match on those days.) 14 15 INFORMATION DESKS The Fan Embassy (open from 10am to 11pm) The Fan Embassy is the place in the city where fans will be able to get all the necessary information on administrative procedures and receive advice (passport loss or theft, consulate contact details, emergencies, etc.). It will also serve as an informational desk for tourists. The Fan Embassy will be runned by the European Metropole of Lille and its volunteers in collaboration with Football Supporters Europe (FSE). It offers an architectural panorama from the 17th to the 20th century and includes the Vieille Bourse (1652-1653), one of the city’s most beautiful monuments. Every afternoon (except on Mondays) you will find second-hand booksellers and chess players in its inner courtyard. Grand’Place Place du Général de Gaulle - Lille Access : Metro 1- Rihour Gare Saint Sauveur Opened in March 2009, Saint Sauveur is a former freight station that was closed down in 2003. Renovated by the City of Lille, Gare Saint Sauveur now contains an exhibition space, a bar and a cinema. GUIDED TOURS City Tour What could be more enjoyable than visiting the city from the comfort of an open-top bus ? Price : 12 € per person Bataille de Fromelles museum On the 19th and 20th July 1916, more than 8 500 - Australians, British and Germans man – were dead, missing or injured in the Battle of Fromelles. The Bataille de Fromelles museum links the past and the present and became a great place of memory. 24 Lille Natural History Museum Find out about the history of the earth, life and the earliest men in order to understand the events that shaped our landscapes and made the North of France a coal-mining area. Children are invited to discover and understand biodiversity by walking in the footsteps of Darwin. Arrival in Roubaix for a visit of the historical center which will reveal how this town of 8,000 inhabitants became, in less than a century, the world capital of wool. The renovated museums have been given a new lease of life.
