Library Director/CEO
April is a favorite month for
libraries because we celebrate
National Library Week this month.
Libraries truly add value to the
community with the wide array of
free resources that they provide for
people of all ages. In recognition of this, we invite you
to join the Friends of the Library. Memberships start
at just $15 a year, and allow the library to continue
offering all its great services to our patrons. If you join this month, you will
be entered in a drawing to win wonderful prizes including a resort stay,
movie passes and more. Please see page 12 for details.
And who doesn’t love pizza? Well this month, dining on a delicious pizza
can help the library. Dine at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza at 8031 Turkey Lake
Road any Thursday in April and mention the library, and the restaurant
will donate 20 percent of your bill to OCLS. Now that’s a good excuse for
eating out.
Benjamin Franklin once said there were only two things certain in life:
death and taxes. The IRS tax filing deadline is Wednesday, April 15.
If you’re up against that deadline, the library can help. AARP volunteers
are providing free income tax assistance at four library locations. Find a
location near you on page 6 and hope a refund is in your future.

New Heights
NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK
In the spirit of National Library Week, we asked
some of our most loyal OCLS customers about
their favorite library services and programs.
These customers encourage you to discover a new
service and reach new heights with the library.
“I love, love, love the home
delivery service for checking
out books! The other
awesome feature is the ability
to download e-books and
audiobooks. I don’t think many
people know it’s available.”
–Melissa
“We use the downtown library,
and love the special events and
the Melrose Center. Having books
delivered is also awesomely
convenient. My son likes to get
books on CD and listen to them on
the way to and from school.”
–Charissa
“Miss BlockBuster? Visit the library!
Love books but running out of room
on the shelves? Check them out at
the library, read them and then
return them. Do you keep buying
books and never get around to
reading them? Stop! Go online and
have them delivered to your home.”
