Thermowood is a thermal modification procedure that preserves wood in its most natural
and flawless state for a life-long journey.

The first heat treated wood was produced
in the 1930s by German scientists Stamm
and Hansen and in the 1940s by American
scientist White. Research was continued in
the 1950s by Bavendam, Runkel and Buro. In
the early 90s VTT (Technical Research Center
of Finland) further refined the research into
heat treatment, and developed Thermowood
method.
Thermowood method, brand and logo can

“Thermowood method” involves heating wood
material to temperatures of up to 180⁰C and
preserving it with steam. Besides the preservation, Thermowood process also causes
certain chemical changes in wood.

wood, while its stability, decay resistance and

ash
Iroko
Ash is a hardwood and is hard, dense, tough
and very strong but elastic, extensively used
for making bows, tool handles, baseball bats,
hurleys and other uses demanding high
strength and resilience. Ash wood is generally light in colour, becoming a richer yellow
or brown at the core. The colour of the white
ash starts out blond and deepens in colour
over time. It is coarse but the grain is fairly
straight.
Wood craftsmen and carpenters specifically
select ash wood for many projects because
of its versatile physical properties. Strength
and flexibility are only a few of the aspects
that make this wood a great option for sports
equipment, furniture, wood floors and musical instruments. The demand for ash wood
starts at the rustle of leaves.
It is also often used as material for electric
guitar bodies and, less commonly, for acoustic guitar bodies, known for its bright, cutting
tone and sustaining quality. Some Fender
Stratocasters and Telecasters are made of
ash, as an alternative to the darker sounding
alder. They are also used for making drum
shells. Interior joinery is another common
user of both European Ash and White Ash.
Ash veneers are extensively used in office
furniture. Woodworkers generally like the

timber for its great finishing qualities. It also
has good machining qualities, and is quite
easy to use with nails, screws and glue.
Ash was commonly used for the structural
members of the bodies of cars made by carriage builders. Early cars had frames which
were intended to flex as part of the suspension system in order to simplify construction.

still manufacture sports cars with frames
made from ash. It was also widely used by
early aviation pioneers for the aircraft.
The two most economically important species for wood production are White Ash in
eastern North America, and European Ash
in Europe. The Green Ash is widely planted
as a street tree in the United States. The inner bark of the Blue Ash has been used as a
source for a blue dye.
Almost all the ash we supply is from North
America and the Balkans.
Iroko is a large hardwood tree from the west
coast of tropical Africa. It is one of the woods
sometimes referred to as African Teak, although it is unrelated to the teak family. The
wood colour is initially yellow but darkens
to a richer brown over time. The trunks are
tall, straight, and cylinder shaped. There are
usually no branches on the trunk until about
30 meters from the ground. The bark is a
medium to dark grayish brown. The average
lifespan of an Iroko tree is approximately
two hundred years, although there are trees
on recorded that are as old as four hundred
years.

Iroko has a medium to coarse texture, with
open pores and an interlocked grain. Its
heartwood is usually a yellow to golden
or medium brown, with colour tending to
darken over time. Iroko is very durable, and is
resistant to both rot and insect attack.
Iroko is a strong, very durable timber of
attractive appearance. Suitable for many
purposes for which teak is used, including
exterior and interior joinery, bench tops and
draining boards. Also used in boat building
and vehicle building. A valuable structural
timber suitable for piling and marine work.

PINE
An oak is a tree or shrub in the genus
Quercus, having approximately 600 extant
species. The genus is native to the Northern
Hemisphere, and includes deciduous and
evergreen species extending from cool
temperate to tropical latitudes in Asia and
the Americas. North America contains the
largest number of oak species, with approximately 90 occurring in the United States.
Mexico has 160 species, of which 109 are
endemic. The second greatest center of oak
diversity is China, which contains approximately 100 species.
Oak wood has a greater density (i.e. mass
per unit volume) than the wood of most
trees. The density of the wood of the live oak
almost equals the density of water. Oak wood
has also a great strength and hardness, and
is very resistant to insect and fungal attack
because of its high tannin content. It also has
very appealing grain markings, particularly
when quartersawn. The ancient Romans
called oak „robur,“ and they used the same
word figuratively to mean „strength.“ The
wood of the oak tree is indeed strong, and it
has other qualities as well. It has an attractive texture that appeals to furniture makers
and a chemical composition that appeals to
the wine industry.

Oak planking was common on high status Viking longships in the 9th and 10th centuries.
Wide, quarter-sawn boards of oak have been
prized since the Middle Ages for use in interior panelling of prestigious buildings such as
the debating chamber of the House of Commons in London and in the construction of
fine furniture. Oak wood, from Quercus robur
and Quercus petraea, was used in Europe for
the construction of ships, especially naval
men of war, until the 19th century, and was
the principal timber used in the construction
of European timber-framed buildings. Today
oak wood is still commonly used for furniture
making and flooring, timber frame buildings,
and for veneer production.
Oak wood is an excellent construction material that machines well, meaning you can
easily saw, cut and carve it into the sizes and
shapes you need. In addition, oak works well
with glues, nails and screws.
The Engineered Floorings that we produce

Croatia. This area is known as the best grow
up of the Oak tree in Europe.
Pines are conifer trees in the family Pinaceae. They are the only genus in the subfamily
Pinoideae. Different authorities generally
agree that there are between 105 and 125
species. Pines are native to a majority of
the Northern Hemisphere and have been
introduced throughout most temperate and
subtropical regions of the world where they
are grown as timber and cultivated as ornamental plants in parks and gardens. One species (Sumatran pine) crosses the equator in
Sumatra to 2°S. In North America, they range
from 66°N to 12°N.
Pines are evergreen, coniferous resinous
trees (or rarely shrubs) growing 3–80 m
tall, with the majority of species reaching
15–45 m tall. The smallest are Siberian dwarf
pine and Potosi pinyon, and the tallest is a
81.79-meter tall ponderosa pine located in
southern Oregon‘s Rogue River-Siskiyou
National Forest.
The bark of most pines is thick and scaly,
but some species have thin, flaking bark. The
branches are produced in regular „pseudo
whorls“, actually a very tight spiral but appearing like a ring of branches arising from
the same point.
Pines are long-lived, typically reaching ages
of 100–1,000 years, some even more. The
longest-lived is the Great Basin bristlecone
pine, Pinus longaeva. One individual of this
species, dubbed Methuselah, is one of the
world‘s oldest living organisms at around
4,600 years old. This tree can be found in the
White Mountains of California.
Pines are among the most commercially
important tree species valued for their
timber and wood pulp throughout the world.
In temperate and tropical regions, they are
fast-growing softwoods that will grow in
relatively dense stands, their acidic decaying
needles inhibiting the sprouting of competing hardwoods. Commercial pines are grown
in plantations for timber that is denser, more
resinous, and therefore more durable than
spruce (Picea). Pine wood is widely used in
high-value carpentry items such as furniture,
window frames, panelling, floors and roofing,
and the resin of some species is an important source of turpentine.
The pine timber used in thermowood production is originated from Finland by dividing the
log from the center into two.

Magical warmth of wood comes together
with its surprising load-carrying capacity
in Laminated Wood girders, and adds a
natural and immense beauty to your buildings. It is preferred for original spaces, with
its sturdiness and durability, aesthetic and
elegant look, decorative and natural quality,
in addition to its being an eco-friendly and
economical material.
Laminated wood beam is obtained as a result
of gluing using a special glue and pressing
at least three pieces of timbers made out of
spruce tree dried in special furnaces.
Materials in different forms, flat or curvilinear, such as columns, girders, arches, or
trusses, can be made using laminate wood
girder system.
Use of modern technology and industrial
production indicates a recent increase in
the number of wood users and application
areas. Ecological and natural construction
materials are also perceived by people as a
minimum option. As understood from the
advances in the laminate wooden timber
technology, Glulam is stronger than a singlepiece wood in the same section and does
not cause problems like rotation or failure to
function as it is oven-dried. It can be manufactured in a wide range of sizes and cuts as

flat up to 32 m or curved up to 16 m, using
eco-friendly melamine adhesive complying
with E1 standard.

GL 32, GL 36 Glulam, can be sued both as a
wall or ceiling component in desired sizes.
Al products are manufactured in line with the
German Standard DIN 4074, DIN 1052/1 and
European standards EN 386 and ONORM
4100-2 standard criteria. These standard values were declared as valid for our
products by the FMPA (Otto-Graf-Institut)
and Austrian Society for Wood Research
(Holzforschung-Austria).
