4. Gypsy Images Art Studio
Sometimes you will find Gayle Taylor working on an incredible
mural in a local school. Occasionally you might find her out
looking for peculiar-looking rocks to transform into works of art.
Periodically, you may catch her teaching a class. Usually though,
you will find Taylor in her cozy, post-war era home drawing,
painting and perfecting the art of burning design into wood;
commonly known as pyrography. Intricate, elaborate and uniquely
decorated wooden boxes catch one’s eye throughout the main
floor studio.
An artist for over two decades, her original works in acrylics,
watercolors, and pen and ink extends from capturing wildlife on
canvas to bringing stills to life. Many of her easels hold renditions
of photographs that she has been commissioned to produce while
others showcase her own creative images.
The short drive north of Edmonton to the warm-hearted
community of Bon Accord is time well spent to pay a visit to
Gypsy Images Art Studio.

Imagine holding Edmonton’s Rutherford House in the palms of
your hands. Or the house you grew up in. Or the church where
you were married. Working from her pottery studio just east of
Gibbons, the art of replicating architecture is Toula Prins’ pride
and passion. Lining the walls of her comfortable workspace are
row upon row of miniature houses, historical landmarks and
colorful signature pieces. She carefully crafts each structure by
hand, sometimes using as many as 150 pieces to complete a
work. Originally from Greece, Toula began building replicas of the
homes in her native country after immigrating to Canada. And so
the story began and has never ended as she continues to
preserve precious pieces of the past and present. Toula’s House
of Clay is home to the gifts you just will not find anywhere else.

setting, nestled between the North Saskatchewan River and Highway 15, Bruderheim offers the peace and quiet of country living.
Yet its location and major transportation links, including rail and bus services, provide convenient connections to key sectors and

Sheep Grazing
Experience water gardening and invite nature into your life.
Visit our aquatic greenhouse and beautiful display ponds,
waterfalls, and fountains. At Aqualine, you will find a full range
of water garden services, products, and an incredible variety of
native water plants and water lilies. We specialize in the design
and creation of unique, quality constructed water features,
and offer water garden maintenance and consultation services.
Seminars on water garden design and construction are also
available. Our natural outdoor setting will inspire you to go with
the flow of water gardening.
Come join our flock! Have you ever walked through a flock of
sheep or watched them graze in an urban area? If not, we invite
you to come to Fort Saskatchewan where you can find sheep
grazing in the middle of the city. This is definitely not typical —
but then again, neither is Fort Saskatchewan! Just walk into a
flock and you’ll be surrounded by warm wool. You can see sheep
herding in action with our expert shepherd and sheep dogs
throughout the summer. Not only are sheep friendly creatures
that love to cuddle, they are quiet, easily herded, but they also
enhance the soil, reduce or eliminate pesticide use, and our
dependency on fossil fuels. A flock of 50 graze on City lands,
providing a “ewe”-nique approach to keeping grass and weeds
down! Come visit our friendly flock next to Legacy Park beside the
Visitor Information Centre.

bloc settlement in all of Canada? In fact, it was the largest
settlement in the world outside of Ukraine! The Ukrainian Cultural
Heritage Village is a multi award-winning provincial historic site
and outdoor living history museum showcasing east central
Alberta from the time frame of 1892 – 1930. Through the use

lived in the area. The site, valued at over $16.2 million dollars,
offers a variety of historic buildings in rural, farmstead or town site
areas including three churches of Eastern Byzantine rite, a burdei

such as gardening, tending livestock, baking break and preparing

Town of Calmar
‘Come Home to Calmar’
Our slogan for our friendly, vibrant and growing community that
preserves a small town atmosphere while being at the hub of
an amazing variety of attractions within easy reach. Located
ten minutes from Edmonton International Airport and just 25
minutes southwest of the City of Edmonton, the Town is also in
close proximity to Wizard and Pigeon Lakes, both high quality
recreational areas.
Historic boom-town frontages on Main Street set the tone for
a historic walking tour and include views of stunning murals
depicting scenes of Calmar’s past. Many more old photographs,
along with original pioneer accounts, are displayed in our virtual
museum on our corporate web site. With limitless space, our
museum is in a constant state of expansion.
The Town of Millet, population 2,125, is located on Highway 2A,
45 km (25 minutes) south of Edmonton or 20 km (15 minutes)
south of the Edmonton International Airport. A picturesque rural
community, it is situated alongside the original Pacific Railway
built in 1891, and is centered on a 65-acre park system with
natural and manicured areas, including Pipestone Creek and Eyot
Creek. Multi use lighted and paved pathways, trails and facilities
such as the Agriplex, ball diamonds, soccer fields, and a splash
pad are also part of the system.
Millet hosts a variety of annual events such as Millet Days, Soccer,
Ball, Hockey and Broomball Tournaments, a Community Garage
Sale, Country Gospel Concerts, a Garden Tour & Strawberry Tea,
the Harvest Festival, and a Skating Carnival.
Millet became known as “the Prettiest Little Town in Alberta”
largely due to its champion status in the National Communities in
Bloom Program.

Centennial so join us for various exciting events throughout the
year such as the Homecoming weekend in July.
“The Town with the Painted Past” is home to 27 works of art
that comprise the Mural Tour. Magnificent outdoor paintings and
sculptures, created by Canadian artists, depict the rich history
of our community. Stony Plain’s legacy lives on through art. Our
museums and historic sites provide a unique glimpse into our
agricultural ancestry.
