Cable Design Considerations for High Speed & Acceleration Applications
Energy Audit and Energy Efficiency: Finding Hidden Savings
Increases in travel speed and acceleration of moving components are being featured in the most current designs of modern machine tools, delivering
productivity advantages to manufacturers. These machines include cable track applications, populated with cables subject to enormous stress from
these fast moving, demanding installations. Lucas Kehl, a product manager at Lapp USA, Inc. describes challenges of these high-dynamic applications
and explains the design considerations for robust, reliable electrical cables. To meet these new application requirements, both the design and the
material selection play an important role. In this emerging use for industrial machines, there are many considerations in order to deliver a reliable, robust
electrical connection for increased durability, less space requirements, reduced weight and reduced minimum bending radius. Presented by: Lapp Group
Even lean organizations are finding they can reduce waste and energy expenditures by up to 60 % with an energy audit program. An energy audit
usually consists of surveying the use of energy by the facility and its equipment or machinery. Audited areas oſten include lamp/lighting
efficiency, plug load, machinery waste and HVAC. Rebuild Michigan, along with its Regional Technical Assistants (RTAs), work to promote
increased energy efficiency within Michigan communities by providing technical assistance and resources to eligible building owners that are
ready to undertake comprehensive or staged energy efficiency projects. Larger businesses can benefit by participating in DOE’s Better Building
Challenge. Presented by: Michigan Energy Office - MEDC and DOE Better Buildings

community, the program will be explained and the connections to key end users can be discussed. Presented by: Siemens
25 years ago, Ethernet became the dominant technology for enterprise networks, supplanting multiple, disparate protocols. More recently,
Ethernet also dominated the enterprise security network. Today, Ethernet continues its progress as it finds its way onto the factory floor. This
convergence of business IT systems and factory automation systems creates a need for industrial-grade Ethernet cabling solutions. This
seminar will explore the advantages of this convergence and considerations for Ethernet cabling to and within the factory environment.

There are lots of ways to communicate data within a standalone controls system, and also many ways to communicate up to a manufacturing
database system. But sometimes it is necessary to tell the previous station in line that we are ready for a part, or pass production data from a
station that uses a non-standard PLC, or maybe we don’t want to buy a higher level PLC just because we need that one extra feature. Let Turck
show you how utilizing existing technology we can hook control systems together, expose devices to higher level networking systems using
NAT, or make that low cost PLC just a little bit smarter with some additional tools. We’ve been doing it for years, now let us show you our
newest offering. Presented by: Turck

The Where, When and Why of Enclosure Climate Control
What’s New in Siemens Controls
Enclosures provide essential protection for operations’ most sensitive systems, but they also limit the dissipation of the heat. And heat is the
nemesis of electronics and machinery, lessening their efficiency and shortening operational life. Luckily, there doesn’t have to be a choice of
protection or cooling. Take it from the world’s largest enclosure manufacturer, Rittal, the appropriate climate control system can be like a
premium insurance policy at a fraction of the cost. Rittal’s lead climate control Product Manager and Solution Engineer discuss when it’s best to
use certain climate control systems, which environments and housed components make it a must, and some creative applications. Presented
